Show Off Your Eye Colour

eye colour wheelAlthough most of us try to coordinate our eye shadow with what we’re wearing for a pulled together look, you should also pay attention to your actual eye colour as well. Choosing eye makeup in a shade that flatters your eye colour can make your eyes look brighter and more beautiful! And if you’re not sure where to begin check out these quick tips on which eyes hadow hues will look the best on each eye colour.

If you’re a blue-eyed beauty…

People with blue eyes should stay far away from blue eyeshadow! It drains the colour from your eyes instead of enhancing the intensity – think of it this way you wouldn’t wear clothing in the exact same shade as your skin.

To make your eyes to pop and highlight their colour try wearing earthy, neutral tones like deep mocha browns with slight purple undertones, soft taupe and nude shades or slate coloured grays. You can also play up your eyes by going for shades that contrast with the blue of your eyes. Try pretty rose-coloured pinks or deep violets and purples. The cool undertones from these colours will make your eyes look mesmerising!

If you’re a brown-eyed babe…

Ooh lucky you, brown eyes can get away with wearing almost any eye shadow. Navy blue, turquoise and any shade of green tend to look great on brown eyes making them look almost luminous. Gold, bronze, rust and colours with an orange undertone like coral look beautiful on you! Brown eyes also look fabulous in shades with warm purple undertones like plum and lavender. Even darker shades like black work on you without looking too stark. Remember, to make sure the colour you choose compliments your skin tone as well!

If you have gorgeous green or hot hazel eyes…

The rarest of all eye colours, green eyes leave many green with envy! Because of warm green undertones to hazel eyes they tend to look best in the same shades green eyes do. To get green or hazel eyes to pop, try choosing a purple shade of eye shadow. Anything from pastel lilac to gorgeous grape and even vivacious violet looks amazing on you! The contrast of purple eye shadow to the green tones in your eyes will make them seem much more dramatic and even greener! If you want your eyes to stand out but look less “loud”, you can opt for warmer brown shades like mocha or reddish chocolatey browns. Colours with slight hints of gold highlight the flecks in your eyes too.
