Beauty and Glamorous hairstyles usually come to mind when thinking about red Carpet Events. That’s exactly what the women of the 2011 Oscars brought to this year’s Academy Awards. From impressive waved updos to the straight and sleek, find out how you can achieve some of these popular hair trends.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Harry Josh of John Frieda created this sleek, straight, and simple look for Gwyneth Paltrow. Josh applied John Frieda’s new Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight ,blow-dried her hair with a Mason Pearson brush, and flat-ironed to finish. Flyaways were tamed with Full Repair Flyaway Tamer.
Hilary Swank
To complement Hilary Swank’s Gucci gown, stylist Robert Vetica created a sleek-at-the-sides asymmetrical chignon. “My inspirations were the romantic, elegant styles worn by Hollywood film icon Grace Kelly, though this is very modern, not retro in any way,” Vetica said. He used Moroccanoil Treatment to prep the hair, placed the hair into a chignon, and finished with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine spray hair. Anna Hu platinum and diamond earrings (affixed on each side of the chignon) added elegance to the chic style.
Nicole Kidman
David Babaii for Couture Colour gave Nicole Kidman a “playful ponytail” that was also inspired in part by Brigitte Bardot. Babaii used Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment to keep the hair shiny, blow-dried with the IT&LY Hairfashion Ionic Dryer and a round brush, and created a bump at the crown for a voluminous look.
Amy Adams
Stylist Laini Reeves for Couture Colour was inspired by Jerry Hall when creating Amy Adams’s sexy waves. To get the look Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment was used to prep the style, and Amy’s hair was wet-set using one-half inch curlers. When dry, her hair was brushed out to reveal soft waves.
Melissa Leo
Stylist Creighton Bowman created this effortless and carefree updo for winner Melissa Leo to complement the dramatic collar of her dress. Bowman used Leonor Greyl products in Leo’s hair, blow-drying with a medium-sized round brush so it wouldn’t be completely straight. After pulling the hair into a high chignon, Bowman used just four hairpins to secure the style.
Sandra Bullock
David Babaii for Couture Colour created this textured look for Sandra Bullock. He used Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment for shine, and then twisted random half-inch sections of hair, flat ironing them with the IT&LY Hairfashion Digital Styling Iron for texture. After pulling the hairstyle back into a ponytail, he then wrapped the hair around the band, securing with bobby pins.
