Garnier Nutrisse Ultra permanent hair colour- ultra violet 4.16

So thanks to Telkom, I am writing this review about a month after I actually coloured my hair. I chose the Ultra Violet colour because my hair is dark brown and I wanted to be a bit daring if it worked and i thought it wouldn't look too bad since i have a medium complexion. I washed my hair the night before so it was a fairly simple process to mix the solution and work it through. I used the entire mix as my hair is quite long so I didn't really have to worry about storing any excess. I left it on for 2 extra minutes just to make sure the colour caught on and rinsing it out was pretty easy. I have to say that I absolutely love the conditioner that they give you. It smells so fruity and wonderful and it really gives your hair a super moisture boost. They should definitely sell that on its own. Once washed and air dried, my hair was incredibly soft and shiny but unfortunately the colour didn't catch too well. This could be because my hair is too dark to take the colour and of course I am a complete novice. The colour also wasn't quite what it looked like on the box, being a more reddish shade than a dark violet. Having said that, I quite like the product and I am definitely going to try it again in another shade when i dye my hair a dark brown in a few weeks. It was much easier than I anticipated and it didnt take much more than an hour from start to finish. The colour was a bit more intense the first week but after a couple of washes it settles into a deep burgundy kind of colour. I tried to capture this in my pictures but my hair is just too dark so hopefully you can see some colour.

With regrowth about 10cm long I was in desperate need of a colouring. I chose the Iced Coffee colour for my hair to give it that extra pick me up. I usually ask for help when colouring my hair but this time I did it all by myself and I was amazed at how easy it was and at the result I got - No patches of colour or a mottled look. This was a plus for me. My hair is also quite long and I was worried one bottle wouldn't give me enough coverage but it did. Another plus. The whole process from start to finish was really easy and in all took about an hour. What is an hour of your time to get a spruced up look ladies? Once I had rinsed out all the dye and condtioned my hair (Love their conditioner) I blowed dried my hair and loved the ultra shine it had, even in the dim light of my room. When I went outside it was even better. The colour was initially quite intense in terms of being very dark but after a few washes I am absolutely loving it. In all this is a qualtiy product and is very reasonably priced. I would definitely buy this product again and would recommend it to anyone who is wanting a change at a fraction of the cost of expensive hair salons. I wasn't able to use the colour myself, so I enlisted my sister, who was only to happy, to try it out. I chose the Ultra Violet as my and my sister's hair is dark brown nearly black. I must say we were pleasantly surprised, the product smelt heavenly and was easy to apply. It didn't drip on application and the instructions were easy to follow. It left my sister's hair soft and wow, the smell was fantastic. The only down side, the the end colour wasn't like the box. You could only see a tinge of colour when she was in the light. That being said, we do have quite difficult hair to colour. The end result was soft, shiny, heavenly smelling hair with a hint of colour.
