DIY Shimmer Lotion

If you are looking to add a little something extra to your look for date night, makeup shimmer lotion is the way to go! It adds an instant sexy glow to your skin making you beam with radiance. Apply shimmer lotion to your collar bones, décolletage, and tops of shoulders, legs or cheeks for a healthy, warm glow. An added bonus is that you will be able to create your very own shimmer lotion on the cheap as you are sure to have most of these ingredients lying around in your make-up bag!

Ingredients:

• Your favourite body lotion (scented or unscented)
• Highlighting powder or gold/champagne coloured eye shadow (using golden tones over silver will leave you with a healthier more natural glow) (We recommend a gorgeous teal MAC eye shadow)
• Ear Bud
• Teaspoon
• Travel Size Container
• Bronzer (optional)
• Lavender oil (or your favourite scented oil, optional ingredient if using unscented body lotion)

Method:

1.Fill your travel size container three-quarters of the way full with your favourite body lotion

2.If using eye shadow make sure that the eye shadow is pressed out to a fine powder. Use the back of a teaspoon to press and crush the eye shadow until it resembles a fine powder

3.Combine a quarter of a teaspoon (to start with) of highlighting powder/eye shadow with the body lotion and stir with an ear bud to combine. Depending on how subtle or intense you want the shimmer lotion to be will determine how much of the highlighting powder/eye shadow you will combine with the body lotion

4.My suggestion would be to combine a small quantity at a time of the highlighting powder/eye shadow with the body lotion and test it on your hand until you are happy with the shade of the shimmer lotion. Rather be safe and combine the highlighting powder/eye shadow with the body lotion slowly and in stages until you reach the desired colour and intensity of the shimmer lotion. No-one wants to be left looking like a glitter ball!

5.If you would like some depth of colour to your shimmer lotion, add in some bronzer to your shimmer lotion. If using bronzer in powder form, similarly to the eye shadow, ensure that the bronzer is pressed out to a fine powder before combining it with the body lotion. A little will go a long way so combine the bronzer with the body lotion sparingly!

6.Stir the ingredients together with an ear bud to combine

7.If you have used unscented body lotion and would like your new shimmer lotion to be scented add in a drop or two of your favourite scented oil and stir with an ear bud to combine
