With this in mind, a friend and I made our way to the Bobbi Brown counter at Edgars at the Waterfront. There I was met by Gerhard, head of the Bobbi Brown team at Edgar’s and his very able assistant, Andrea. For the next two hours I was treated to a session of the utmost luxurious pampering- ever.
Because of my dry skin and age, Gerhard decided to use the Bobbi Brown Hydrating skincare range for my face. This skincare line works in three ways by hydrating, balancing and reviving the skin. It is a truly lovely range of products that is certainly well worth using.
After cleansing, toning and hydrating the skin, we launched into the exciting realm of preparing the eyes for the makeup experience.
Using Andrea as his model, Gerhard proceeded to apply various eye products to Andrea’s eyes while at the same time we copied him step by step. We certainly weren’t as adept as he was but nevertheless managed to apply our own makeup rather well.
Initially we applied a primer to the eyelid and thereafter a corrector and concealer underneath the eyes. We then applied a skin foundation and a gorgeous pot rouge blush. This doubled as a lipstick as well which was topped with a crystal lip gloss to complete the lovely moist look on the lips.
The exquisite shimmer brick was applied as a high lighter. The “shimmer brick” is in a lovely compact that comes in rows of variegating beiges and browns. This may be used as an eye shadow or as an high-lighter.
We learnt how to apply the various eye shadows and how to blend them to make the eye “pop out”. I loved the gel eye liner and the Extreme party lash mascara is not to be overlooked.
Of course, as with every canvas, the brush used for applying the various products is of prime importance. Applying eye make-up requires exactly the same technique and Bobbi Brown can supply you with every type of brush that you may require.
Gerhard and Andrea were excellent teachers and I have been practicing all the techniques on my eyes, even managing to achieve a rather excellent final result. Do yourself a favour and spend an hour or two with beauty expert Gerhard- you certainly won’t be sorry.
