Definitely the most affordable mascara on the market without compromising on quality!

Pleasantly surprised

I received this mascara as a free gift with the purchase of a Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick at Clicks. The colour was Blackest black which was a rich black colour. The formula is very thin and runny so I had to dab off the excess on a tissue. The brush is very small and similar to a Charlie mascara I had seen before. It adds good colour, a little length but no real volume. It is quite buildable and can be layered numerous times before clumping. It washes off easily with water and face wash. I ended up giving this to a younger cousin of mine who was just starting out using mascara and found the bigger brushes hard to use. She likes it but I found that it didn't give me the effect I expect from my mascara. I wouldn't recommend it to more savvy mascara users who want more oomph for their money.

This isnt a terrible mascara, but I have achieved better results with other non-waterproof mascaras. I am not a huge fan of the "panda-eyed" look!

I decided to try something different for a change. I cleaned out my make-up bag (actually its a suit case) and tossed out my mascara as its older than 3 months. I used this mascara back in day when I was a struggling student as Mabelline and Rimmel were very student friendly on the wallet. I found this mascara to work just as well as my Clinique mascaras. I like the brush, its not too big and you can apply easily. Two coats and my lashes looked bigger and curled. It doesn't clump which is a bonus. I however made the fatal mistake of buying a normal mascara as opposed to a waterproof one. Not a good idea when chopping up onions. It retails for R99.99 at Clicks but I wouldn't buy this again as its not waterproof and by midday I have junkie/racoon eyes.

Very decent mascara, loved by many, and can't really be faulted. In my experience I have found better performing products from Maybelline like Colossal Volum' Express, this is because I don't have long lashes and so I require something with a little more 'ooommff'.

Great buy-blackest black is the best

I am totally crazy about this mascara and have used it mostly for many many years.
I find that i only have to apply one coat to get the "false eyelash effect" and it really does coat my lashed well.
It is not that expensive and really a great product. Its brush is a nice size and applies easily.
It also washes off easily. It also does not smudge. And in summer i use the water proof mascara which really lasts.

I'm suprised to be the first to review this mascara on this site, as there is no doubt about it's reputation in the cosmetics industry. I love the pink and green tube, its fun and different. This mascara is so easy to use, the shape of the brush ensures an even application without clumps! I prefer to use the "Blackest Black" "00", it really makes your lashes stand out, and you can apply as many layers as you want for lucious thick lashes!
