These beauties are a total steal! They work well and are easy to apply. The maintenance is very low as you don't have to sharpen it often. They are drying though so I would stick to it's intended use as a lipliner and avoid using it as a lipstick.
Essence Lipliner
this lipliner is amazing and there are a variety to choose from , besides being cost effective it is of a great quality and last all day
I find this product to be a slightly creamier colouring pencil. After a while, the product hardens and you have to redraw over the same spot to get pigmentation. Warming it up on the back of your hands takes so long that you'll have to resharpen.
You really get what you pay for with these, which isnt much.
Check out my Instagram @Shmithi_Beauty or blog shmithi.co.za for more reviews.
I must have about 10 of these lying around at least. They're so good!
They're quite creamy and non drying, but don't last too long if used alone, which is okay coz always have one on hand.
I have one in every bag, in the car, at work... No more losing MAC lipsticks at work lol, which is an even bigger positive.
The colors I great - I wish they had more.
And for 20 bucks - how can you not love this??!
These little guys are the best most affordable lip liners that I have ever used!! I buy a new one like every two months because I use it almost daily!
The colours are fantastic, they glide onto your lips so easily and they last pretty long! ive tried many others and wasted lots of money , trying something new, but I keep going back to these , I love them so much!!
Essence recently brought out a new lip liner with a plastic lid that's the same colour as the pencil, stay away from those, they are a lot harder to get onto the lips and they don't last very long , stick to the ones with the silver lids
I'm a student on a student budget so essence is totally my go to stand, and they rarely ever dissapoint. These lip liners are tooooooo die for I have about 3 pencils I keep on repurchasing I just wish there were more shades. The pigment ia very good, they are very effective and the price is justl like??? totally reccommend this to anyone looking for a good lip liner
I love the Essence brand & the lip Liners are fast becoming my holy grail. I refuse to spend money on expensive branded lip liners anymore because the Essence lip liner range does the job its supposed to at a fraction of the cost.
I never used to wear lip-liner but my lipstick bleeds
& wearing a good lip-liner prevents this from happening & it prolongs lipstick wear. The only thing I do wish the brand would do is to make more colors available.
Some great things about these lipliners:
1. Relatively affordable
2. Absolute value for money
3. Stain the lips very well
4. Can be worn as a lipstick if you don't mind frequent re-applicaiton
5. Great base under a lipstick so lipstick lasts longer
6. Application is smooth
7. Does not dry my lips
They need to have more shades, especially on the "nude" side since most nude girls in RSA are more brown than pale.
I have this lipliner in Satin Mauve. It is my favourite!! I apply it all over my lips for a matte lipstick finish and i always get complimented on this colour! Love!
The only problem I had with this is that it's not very long lasting, due to it's creaminess cause easy transfer, otherwise it would have been one of best lip-liners I've tried. It has a very easy smooth application unto the lips, unlike other liners I've tried that tend to be dry. I love that it is highly pigmented, and comes in assorted colors, but if only they could create one that lasts longer.
I absolutely loveeeee these lip liners! They are soft and pigmented and you can either use them with a lipstick or gloss or by itself. You can even color your whole lip with it to give you the most amazing matte lips ever! Like i've used it on the pic. I created an ombre with the "berry" and a soft pink lipstick. It beats all the mattefying your lipstick with powder hands down and its super fast.
I always carry the "Soft berry" and "wish me a rose" pencil with me for on the go touch up. I'm not a huge lipstick fan but with my essence lip liner and a gloss there is no look I can not create even an ombre.
To make them last a bit longer i line on clean dry lips then ill apply lipstick and then line again, so when the top line goes and the lipstick fade the bottom line is still there.
I love this product ,It goes on really creamy and smooth on the lips. it is also very affordable .I have mine in mauve planning to buy some more colours. It last quite on on the lips and you can even wear it alone without lipstick.
I definitely recommend everyone to try this product:)
These lip liners are great and have most of the qualities I would like in a beauty product. The price is great, the quality is really good and they are easy to find. They are creamy, easy to blend and the colour payoff is true to the packaging.
One thing though, they are not as long-lasting as I would like. Which is a lot to ask of a R20 lip liner but that would have been fantastic. Also, I find the colour selection to be lacking some variety. They have the "basic" colours covered. But me being a true lipstick lover, has loads of different colours and would have liked a few more other than the basics.
We all love a good lipliner right?Thankfully with these Essence Lipliners we dont only get a great product that has great staying power, great pigmentation AND at just +/- R20 it doesnt break the bank.I have turned to these lipliners as my go-to lip essentials.I line and fill my entire lip, top off with a clear lip balm or gloss depending on whether I want a matte or sheer finish, then Im ready to go.This product is what call a beauty steal!
Love love love all the Essence lipliners I have tried, especially love this colour. Great peachy nude, quite natural but such a pretty colour! I would say it would suit fair - light/medium skin tones. It wears down quite nicely and lasts for a few hours. Only thing is I wish they lasted a bit longer - have to sharpen them with every use and I go through them so quickly!
I love these lipliners. Every time I pass an Essence stand, I grab a new one. I see there's even a transparent one (SImilar to the Smashbox one for a fraction of the cost).
They are really soft, apply like a dream and have good staying powder. Seriously, get one in every shade...for the price, there's no excuse not to.
This product honestly had me doing a double take at the price tag. A lipliner ? For R20 ? Honestly I thought this was going to be an awfully chalky mess that would have no colour payoff at all but I was mistaken! I picked up the shade 'Satin mauve' that is the most versatile nude, pairing well with brown to pink shades. The texture was creamy, colour payoff was good and my lips were looking??? , insta-worthy even ?.
I really enjoy these lip liners. The colour pay off is great and they are not drying on the lips. They do not last a super long time on your lips and I feel that you have to sharpen them after every 3rd use, because they just wear down so fast :) The price is great though and I would definitely repurchase these.
I recently purchased the Essence Cute pink and I am in love with this product especially since its price is so low.
The texture is creamy and slides easily onto my lips. My only problem is that it comes off easily, but I am definitely going to purchase their colors.
These lip liners are really affordable . They are just as good as any high end lip liner.
They are creamy and well pigmented .
They apply easily and last quite long.
I love to blend them in with any lipstick or lipcrayon as they give a well achieved perky pout.
I purchased the color "satin mauve " which is a beautiful nude that blends easily with nude and natural lip colors giving beautiful day and night lips.
So I was never into lip liners, just because I had never found one that I really liked! Until I came across the Essence lip liners. I only have one so far, but I am definitely going back for more, because I hooked! There I said it!!
The shade that I have is - In the Nude - and oh my word, it is the perfect shade of nude for me!! It has more of a browny nude effect to it but it is absolutely gorgeous!! :)
They are so so affordable, I think I paid R20 or under for the lipliner, they are so creamy, and they are long wearing, making it a bonus!! This lipliner is probably the best one I have ever came across, so do yourself a favor and go get some!!
The only thing I was disappointed with, was the fact they have limited shades, and I wish they would have like different shades and colours, because I would so buy each one!
Now extra tip - Match your Essence Lip Liner - In the Nude with Velvet Teddy by Mac, and you will have Kylie Jenner Lips in seconds!!
I purchased this lip liner in the shade : soft berry and it is one of my favorite lip liners. It is really affordable and works really well. It has a creamy formula and glides smoothly on my lips.It is quite pigmented and lasts for a few hours.
Although the lipliners come in a variety of colours, which means you can wear them with lipstick thats a bit more expensive to make them last the whole day. Good pigment that translates well on to the skin. I find that the pencil does not last long and I can go use up a whole 1g stick in 1 week. So for a lipliner it does a good job if longevity is not a concern. But it only cost R20!
Tip: wear under lipstick. This will extend the wear of the products and help you save a few..
First thing's first.... it's cheap!
I'm all about affordable beauty products and I like the fact that this lipliner comes at an affordable price, but still maintains a good quality. I usually wear Pretty Mauve and then pair it with a berry lipstain to create the prefect 'just kissed' pout.
I love these lipliners. They're perfect for achieving the perfect Kylie lips. My favourite shades are 05 Soft Berry which is a pretty mauve and 08 Red Blush which is a stunning red. They don't dry out your lips like most liners if you want to fill them in. They make a good lipstick substitute as well. They're soft and apply smoothly. Definitely one of my favourite lipliners and it's so cheap!!! I just wish they had more colours to choose from.
I love the essence lip liner, the only reason I gave them 3 on quality and effectiveness, because when I used the pink shade it did not last as long as when I used the red lip liner. They are great to use to outline your lips before applying lipstick or to fill in your hole lip and use it as a lipstick as well. I would recommend to buy the darker shade of this lip liner.
I purchased the essence lipliner in cute pink, the price is extremely affordable as I purchased it for R20. I particularly liked the soft feel it had, and effortless application. However it does not last very long on the lip which acquires frequent reapplication, but all in all a good buy.
I purchased the berry lipliner and it is a really good buy! It's soft yet allows for precise lining and blends well with many shades of red lipsticks. The product is highly pigmented and lasted long when paired with a pricier lipstick. When used with a lip balm, it could even be used as a lipstick. So for less than R20 it is definitely a great addition to my make up collection.
I bought this in the shade soft berry, for only R20 bucks. So affordable.I like the fact that these are very pigmented.I love wearing mine alone, although i love the way the are pigmented i was so disappointed as this did not last more than an hour on my lips.I was expecting maybe four hours of wear. But overall i like how soft and lovely the color is on my lips
I only have the translucent one in this range, but is is lovely and at a great price, worth it. I will be buying more of these I am sure, as they do the job without breaking the bank. It does prevent bleeding and keeps the lipstick in place.
I own 5 of these lovely lip liners, and my favourite is Satin Mauve. It looks like my lips but better, which is what everyone wants, right? All 5 of the lip liners have become short little stubs, after so much use hehe..,
I rated it a 4 in effectiveness because with certain colours, they sometimes fade faster than others. BUT the pigment on these are amazing!
I would recommend that you use a lip scrub, so the lipliner don't attach on to dry lip skin (>_
I have this in the nude shade, and I find it to be such a great lipliner! It helps my lipsticks to stay put and not bleed, and even on it's own it looks great, used as a matte lipstick.
They come in a range of stunning colors and they are super affordable!
The only negative thing I can say about these lip liners is that they are very hard to sharpen with out breaking- ive bought many of these and with each one I struggled so much to sharpen them that I end up buying a new one , but they are so cheap that I don't mind it as I love wearing them :)
I have this lipliner in no.12 Wish Me A Rose. It is a soft pretty pink. I'm not big on having a lipliner to match every shade of lipstick, this shade works for all my lipsticks.
The quality of the Essence lip liners is superb. They are very affordable costing R14.95 at Clicks or Dischem. The lip liner is soft and creamy on application. It blends well. I picked up 6 shades: - 04 Honey Bun, 05 Soft Berry, 06 Satin Mauve, 07 Cute Pink, 08 Red Blush, 10 Femme Fatale
Every time i see a new color i like in Essence Lip liner i purchase. I am very fussy when it comes to purchasing "cheap" makeup, but i need to say that Essence Lip liners are great with a wide variety of colors to choose from. My lipstick does not bleed at all.
I was very impressed with the overall quality of this lipliner. It looks pretty and it does a great job of lining my lips without standing out as it blends nicely with most shades of lipstick. A good buy at an affordable price.
Recently I have been in love with berries, plums and browns. And when you tend to love so many different shades all at once, it is a better idea to go and get some lip liners in those shades before you make an expensive purchase. I hate spending big bucks on something which I am not sure of and essence brand comes to my rescue all the time. Essence lip liner in 050 Soft Berry is a nice berry shade, which is 2-3 shades darker than my nude lips. Its more of a dark brown pink (I honestly don't know how else to describe this color ;-)) that easily hides pigmentation and gives a nice color to lips. Top it off with a clear gloss and you are good to go. These lip liners are soft and creamy and stay put for around 2-3 hrs leaving behind a nice tint. And for R15 they are super affordable.
I am one to spend money on lipsticks, but I dont see the point og spending too much money on lipliners - Enter ESSENCE Lipliners. My saving grace, long lasting and super soft on the lips, and for the price one can afford to buy them in all the colours. My fave combo is applying Essence Lipliner in Femme Fatale and MAC's Ruby Woo lipstick, the staying power is amazing!!
I love these lip liners mainly because they are really affordable and because they come in so many colours! For the price I spend on one expensive lip liner, I can buy four Essence ones, which is what I do normally. They give a really good colour and are quite long lasting as well
I am not a huge lipstick fan but I feel that it's time for a change, since my Boyfriend finds red lips to be irresistible! I didn't want to start off too big so I stopped at the Essence counter while doing my monthly toiletry shopping at my local Dischem store. I picked up a lipliner and decided to test it out. I have to say that the results have been amazing so far! The rich and creamy formula makes for a smooth application that lasts. After giving "In the nude" a try I went back to get more. And I am completely blown away by the quality of these color sticks!
"10 Femme Fatale" is a bright crimson like color that makes a gorgeous red lip for the day time. While "08 Red Blush" is a more deep red suitable for a perfect night time pout.
I will definitely be purchasing more of these little gems, because at R15 a pop? It is totally unreal to not take advantage and stock up for my beginners lipstick collection!!
love this product the colour is great and it lasts long and goes on soft. i even sometimes like to wear it as a matt lipstick. and its really affordable
ok, also from a clicks clearance box for R4 !! I know... it is mad! Also the reason I bought it was because I was reading about lipliners and apparently they are not supposed to match the lipstick but your lip colour!! that way when they fade you dont look like a chola with a dark lip line!
After being quite impressed with my first Essence Lip Pencil in Pink Brown I went to check out their other colours. I was really happy to have found a shade in Nude Coral. Since spring has arrived I have been wearing coral on my lips, cheeks and nails! I have a couple coral lippies and glosses and was really pleased to find a pencil to go with them. It is not an easy colour to come by! I love that this variation is nude. It is very toned down and can literally go with any coral shade because on its own it is fairly light. It also has no shimmer. When I first started using it, the pencil seemed a bit hard but after it wore a little it is actually very creamy. I can easily draw a line even on top of lipbalm.
