Tried and tested for generations, pure coconut oil is great for smoothing hair that is is bad shape. Helps control everything from frizz to dandruff at a fraction of the price of other products. The only downside is it is difficult to wash out and the smell is not great. But worth it for the great results you can achieve with regular use!

Started using this long ago when we lived in Natal. The indian ladies there used it on their hair, and it is beautiful! It works great for hair. Makes it stronger and shinier!

There are many brands of organic coconut oil, but the one I have been using is Crede - it costs around R160 for a 1 litre tub.
I swear by coconut oil as a beauty staple! Not only has it protected my hair (I hadn't trimmed my hair in over a year and the hairdresser was impressed as the condition was so good!) but it is a great makeup remover and general moisturiser.
I am finding new uses for it all the time, and I adore it! Great health benefits if you cook with it too.
I will never be without a tub of coconut oil :)

I have experienced extreme hair loss at least 3 times so far. The first time was a side effect of birth control, the 2nd was when i went on Roaccutane for my skin and the 3rd was when i started smoking. Disgusting habit - I do not recommend it. I quit last year and have been using coconut oil again to condition my hair. I used it all 3 times as a weekly conditioner and within 3 months, there was a visible difference in the quality and quantity of my hair. Coconut oil makes your silky smooth and shiny and makes split ends a thing of the past. To use, I warm a bit of coconut oil slightly and apply to hair. I then cover with a hair wrap and leave for 20 minutes. Make sure to shampoo thoroughly to remove all the oil. There are many different types of coconut oil available but try to get a good quality organic oil.

It's amazing how the simplest of products can be the most effective.
I started using coconut oil a year ago after reading about it online and I am so pleased with it, had I used it 5years ago, i would never have had to cut my hair due to breakage and split ends. I use coconut oil three times a week as a sealant after applying hairfood to my hair. The coconut oil helps seal in and retain moisture in my scalp thereby avoiding dry and brittle hair which easily breaks. This hair regime has added length, volume and shine to my hair and I am at my happiest right now. After all, a woman's hair speaks volumes and the price is so affordable!

I was really excited to try the Crede Organic Coconut Oil after reading all the great reviews it had! I know that there are many ways to use coconut oil, but I experimented with my hair first. Since I have very long hair, I always strive to keep my hair looking as healthy as possible by using hot tools very occasionally and treating my hair to masks/leave-in conditions as much as possible. Over time, purchasing good quality hair treatments (or even going to a salon) starts getting really expensive, so I was totally sold when I found out coconut oil was great for your hair.
You can purchase Crede Organic Coconut Oil at any health shop. I bought mine at Wellness Centre. When you buy it the coconut oil is in a semi-solid form but when you put it on your hand, it starts to melt slowly. I apply the oil directly to semi-damp, preshampooed hair. I start from the middle section of my hair and work downwards towards the ends. The coconut oil smells amazing - it reminds me of coconut wafer biscuits! And I plait my hair and leave it in as long as possible (even overnight if you protect your pillows). And when you're done, just wash it out with shampoo and you don't need to condition it. I then just blow dry the roots and leave the rest to air dry.
My hair felt soooo soft after this hair treatment. It was softer than using any other hair product ever! The smell of the coconut still lingered on my hair slightly after shampooing, but it was very subtle. I could definately see a difference in shine and texture of my hair. My hair felt stronger and I am surprised that my hair gets less oily now that I've started using coconut oil.

Ok its official - I'm obsessed with coconut oil. I would this weeks ago but have been using it on my skin. It nakes such a fabulous all over body treatment and my skin is super soft and radiant.
Last week I tried the coconut oil on my hair as a pre wash treatment. Wow! After I blow dried then flat ironed my hair looked beyond fierce deluxe! It was super shiny and soft to the touch. I used this in conjunction with my Kerastace Nutritive masque so hence my results were great.
I used this again yesterday in conjuction with the Sunsilk Damage Reconstruct Conditioner and again the results were fantastic so screw all these expensive products, I'm sticking to Coconut Oil!!!

This is officially my new BFF!!!! I bought some at the pharmacy yesterday for R17 and applied it onto my whole body after I showered last night and it left my skin feeling beyond amazing. I had an all over glow and I assure you I didn't mistake that for greasiness. Surprisingly there is no greasiness after applying it and the brand that I bought had zero smell. I've yet to try this out on my hair and plan on doing this over the weekend. I'm only going to be focusing on my scalp as thats whats dry.
This is really a miracle oil.

Like Quanita mentioned coconut oil is great as a pre-shampoo hair mask. I leave it overnight but I cover my pillow with a towel to prevent it from ruining my pillows. All you need is a tablespoon or two of the oil depending on the length of you hair, if you use too much it becomes difficult to wash out. I usually get most of the coconut oil out with 2 shampoos. If you have thinner hair or hair that goes limp easily only apply the oil to your hair from your ears down and none near your scalp. In summer I use the coconut oil to protect my hair from the sea/pool water. It can also be used to remove waterproof mascara if you run out of regular remover and an intensive moisturizing treatment for dry skin on your elbows, knees and feet. I highly recommend.
