Hairstyle Tips While Growing Out A Fringe

Fringed hairstyles are gorgeous. They can easily be made but they’re also high maintenance. Trust me I know, I’ve had a fringe many times before and have been contemplating for the past year whether or not I should get one again. Every time I have a bad hair day, I am thankful I do not have a fringe, because with my hair type a fringe can take it from bad to catastrophic.

While growing out your fringe you will reach an awkward stage, when it’s too short to push behind your ears, but is long enough to fall in your eyes. Do not grab a pair of scissors in frustration or schedule a trip to your hairdresser. So if you’re ready to grow out your fringe here are a few pointers to grow them out.

The first and easiest tip would be to use bobby pins to pin it down. You can also use bobby pins and make a mini pouf from your fringe.

Although straight fringes are popular, it is possible to style it wavy or curly as in the 1940s and 50s. So if you’re feeling like having retro inspired hair, grad some small rollers and or a thin barrel curling iron. The waves will make the fringe appear shorter and it will be out of your eyes.

Small Dutch or French braids using your fringe are a fun way to keep it out of your eyes. You can try different techniques such as a lace braid or even a French fish tail braid.

A quick and easy way to keep your fringe out
of your eyes is to put on an Alice band. I would not recommend this on a regular basis as tight hair bands can cause breakage as well as headaches.

Create the illusion of not having a fringe by creating a centre path and using pomade or gel to blend your fringe into the rest of your hair. You could also use these products to sleek your fringe back, which looks great when your hair is in a pony tail. These techniques work well if you have a thin fringe.

Create a side fringe. Part your hair on one side and create a faux side fringe. This looks great with most fringes. Side fringes can be longer in length as most of the hair will not fall into your eyes. A side fringe is the best way to grow out your bangs.

Do twist hairstyles with your hair. Twists are fun and youthful styles. One way to do them would be to twist your hair back into faux cornrows. Another would be to create a centre path and twist each section of your fringe back and pin them in place.

The most important tip would be to have patience. Unless you’re lucky enough to have a fast metabolism it will take some time for your bangs to reach a length that it can be considered as face framing layers that you can push behind your eyes. Till then, keep using these hair styling tips while growing out your fringe.
