Received this mascara in a free set when buying some costly perfumes, but I have since bought myself another one. It is a waterproof Mascara that gives you volume and length when applied correctly.
With this mascara I found that you need to let it dry completely before your second coat as it tends to clump your lashes together if you don't dry out the 1st application but it does what it promises which is waterproof, lash plumping action.
I received my first one a few years ago as a free gift(you know one of those buy for R400 and get so and so free?) yeah . I at the time would have never purchased it on my own. The packaging was not that impressive.
But don't be fooled by that. I have since repurchased this over 4 times and will do so in the future. I have naturally long lashes and struggle with volume. After just the first coat my lashes looked more luscious.
The want is a bit on the small side for me, as compared to the likes of Maybelline that i absolutely love, but this one fared well in comparison. The only thing i do not like is that it tends to dry out in the bottle/tube.
waterproof mascara that adds volume and does not need 1000 coats
and for a fraction of the price of most mascaras
if you're looking for budget friendly quality, then look no further
I bought this in an intense black waterproof formulation!
And i am really pleased
I love the big brush
This mascara really is waterproof and prevents me looking racoon eyed when my eyes water
Because i wear contact lenses i change my mascara very frequently as my eyes are prone to irritation
I dont get that with this one
And with the intense black my eyes look amazing
Thick lustrous long and almost false
Well worth your money
I bought this mascara in the non-waterproof formula which has a bright orange tube. The mascara does a great job of volumizing and defining lashes, the mascara formula is thick and dries quickly. It didn't make my eyelashes hard and doesn't flake. The only negative I can see is that because it has such a thick formula it is more likely to dry out sooner than more liquidy formulas but you need to replace you mascara quite regularly anyway so it shouldn't be a problem. I purchased this mascara on sale at Edgars for R65 ( it was R15 off) so its very affordable. This mascara has really impressed me as a great everyday mascara.
I found this mascara fulfilled its promise in terms of intensity. It worked wonders but be very careful when applying as it tends to clump. When you get it right it gives you a great effect. I had a problem removing the mascara. Had to use quite a bit of eye makeup remover to get it out completely. Otherwise its good value for money.
What I like about the product:
The pigmentation of this mascara is really great. Yardley really meant it when they said intense black. It is the most intense black mascara I have used, which I absolutely love because it made my lashes very visible. One coat of mascara is more than sufficient (I would not advise applying more than one as it gets very clumpy)
I also like the fact that Yardley created such a colourful packaging for this mascara. In the photo it looks blue, but it’s more a turquoise colour. It makes it very easy to find when it’s in between all your makeup, or even in your hand bag.
The formula is definitely waterproof. It didn’t budge with regular water-based eye makeup remover, you need a good oil-based eye makeup remover to remove this. Definately a good thing especially during the hot summer months as it won’t run down your face when you sweat or from a few tears from jokes and one too many cocktails ;)
Although the formula was very thick (not my preference) it did hold my curls. I know that waterproof mascaras generally hold curls better than non-waterproof ones, so I can’t say whether the non-waterproof version of this mascara will hold curls. But the waterproof version I have definitely holds my curls (which is amazing)
What I don’t like about the product:
This mascara does give a lot of volume, but it clumps your lashes together. It does not separate your lashes as well as the Maxfactor mascara that I have recently been using. So I look like I have 6-8 long, visible lashes. (See photo if you’re interested of how this mascara looks on my lashes)
I didn’t like the brush much as well as it was quite big (not as big as Benefit’s Bad Girl Lash but bigger than most mascara wands.) Also, with the way the brush is made the mascara formula forms big blobs on the wand and you have to scrap off the excess. I didn’t like this because it got very messy and even after scrapping most of the mascara off, there was still enough to make my lashes clump in a not-so-good way. The big brush also made it hard to get to all my lashes without putting most of the mascara on everywhere BUT my lashes. I also found that this mascara transferred onto my eyelid throughout the day, which I didn’t like.
