I popped into Dischem the other looking for an antidote for my chronically white skin. I’m ridiculously pale, burn easily, peel if I think of the sun and turn orange when I use self tanners.
It’s a very annoying problem to have. But I have recently heard very good things about Vichy’s Captial Soleil Bronzing Milk for face and Body so I thought I’d give it a whirl.
The first thing that struck me about the product was the price. It’s what I’d call a little steep. Not quite Clarins and Piz Buin steep, but at R183 I still winced a little as I handed over my bank card.
Then I got home and did the usual pre tan prep. I buffed, I scrubbed, I polished. My skin was literally glowing by the time I was done.
Having read reviews on the product I had been warned that a little goes a long way. So I used sparing amounts and worked in sections to get it all on.
I let it soak in for a tad and went to bed. The first thing I noticed is that a little does indeed go a long way. The second is the creamy consistency. This doesn’t feel watery or icky in any way. My skin felt hydrated afterwards and it wasn’t tacky. I felt like I had just put a rich lotion on. This impressed me, as I hate feeling like all I want to do is put some cream on cause my skin feels manky.
The next morning I woke up to a gorgeous, natural looking glow. And it was toffee brown, not kumquat orange! Another tick in the pro column. Because I used so little it looks like I’ve got a light tan, there is has been no streaking so far and my skin feels soft and glowy.
I’m seriously in love with this product.
The bottle says to apply two to four times a week. This means that the colour is buildable for those who want to go darker. Personally I would only use it once a week.
Considering how little I used I’m not so put off by the price anymore. There’s a good number of applications here.
The cons – I feel there’s not enough information on the bottle and a lot of it is in French. It took quite a bit of Googling to find enough tip and tricks for me to feel comfortable to give it a go. I just would have liked a bit more to go on from the product itself.
The colour is a couple of days old now and wearing well. I will definitely repurchase.
