ive been so happy with the service at ruby box - I was a loyal client with them for 3 years and when I had to cancel my subscription, they sent me a good bye gift and really made me feel like I was an important customer - it was great dealing with them
Got the September 2014 today. My second box, and September being birthday month for Rubybox, quite a special box. Most people seem to have received the same items with minor differences. I received a rubybox brush cleanser, a rubybox foundation brush, dove deodorant and a botanical collections hand cream. All were full size products. In addition, I received a Rimmel Nail Nurse nail polish and a sample of the phytomer smoothing and relieving eye mask. The last 2, I believe, are an addition for the previous complaint I made last month.
Variations in boxes came in which makeup brush, and dove product received. From I have seen, everyone received the brush cleanser and hand cream.
Rubybox included a bracelet in every box.
All in all, I like this months box, and am already looking forward to the next box.
RubyBox had a July special on their monthly surprise box for a price of 99c. I had been contemplating joining their subscription for a long time, but wasn't impressed with their previous boxes.
99c seemed like a fair enough deal to try them out.
I got my box on the 22nd August, or around that date - give or take 1 or 2 days. Was super annoyed, it seemed everyone else had gotten their boxes, but me.
Great start for RubyBox. Then the box - had a egg white soap (which rubybox has been giving out for months), an africology body butter sample (hated it, hated the smell and found the formulation too thick - and anyway September is Spring - too late Rubybox, really). Then there were some makeup removing Sponges (which a lot of people loved, but I'm skeptical on that ALSO). The only product that was seemingly ok at first glance, was the STILA mango berry lip glaze - but then, I hated the applicator and the product boasted that it wasn't sticky, but it was.
So, all in all - I find my first box was a big fat waster - I payed R50 for transport, but they were late!
I hated the need to ask them why I hadn't gotten my box yet - it spoilt the novelty and fun of it all.
Will see what September holds for RubyBox, Birthday box and I am also expecting an apologetic surprise, hopefully a good one!
After reading this reviews I am happy with my decision to NOT resubscribe to Rubybox. I was happy with my first few months (March 2013 - Oct 2013) but from November to January the boxes were HORRIFIC. Who wants Rice Cakes in a Beauty Box? I have also struggled with the courier service on multiple occasions and for ridiculous reasons. I have just heard that the box is being pushed up to about R170 per month which is ridiculous, unless they suddenly start supplying proper brands and full size items. A girl can only own so many sample perfumes and TLC face wipes (I do love those face wipes though :D )
I've been getting more and more disappointed with each month's Rubybox. I've been a subscriber since they joined forces with Glambox, having been a subscriber to the Glambox for ages before that (I miss them terribly!).
This August one was a dead loss for me - I certainly don't need any more makeup wipes. I already have one of the concealer brushes received previously from them. And the body butter was an embarrassment - dreadful product, gone in the bin.
I must admit I actually complained to them and am really surprised to have gotten a response and real interest in my issues with them. They even sent me a voucher which made me feel a whole lot better.
And it does seem that my September rubybox is a whole lot better - but that's a separate review :)
I have mixed feelings about this box, I'm glad that they gave me make up remover wipes, because I was running out on wipes to keep in my handbag for when I'm staying over or on holiday, however I felt the consealer brush was a waste, because I'm paying for samples of products, not a brush which I already have! Don't get me wrong, I liked the brush, but I think it was a waste. The body butter that came in my box wasn't anything to write home about, I didn't even use it after the first time, there wasn't anything luxurious about it. I liked the Elizabeth Arden sample as well, because I'm an EA fan, so that product won't go to waste. I still think I should cancel my Rubybox subscription.
So I am quite impressed with my box this month except for the packaging. I love the contents, but the packaging was crap.
My box contents was quite different from Ayesha's
- Motions Oil Moisturiser Hair Lotion Full Size worth R32.99
- Rubybox Tools Concealer Brush Full Size worth R119.95
- Ponds Gold Radiance Precious Youth Serum Sample Size
- TLC Deep Cleanse Makeup Remover Facial Wipes Full Size worth R29.99
The thing that peeved me off about the box was that the hair lotion bottle was opened and the lotion messed up everything in the box.
But since it is a full size, I will let this one go...This time only...
Imagine recieving a box every month, filled with beauty samples to try before you buy. Now stop imagining and sign up to Rubybox. My box this month contained:
RubyBox Tools concelor Brush (full size) R119.95
TLC Acbe cleansing wipes (full size) R29.99
Bramley Magnolia Body Butter (mini)
NutriWoman oxygenating Papaya mask (mini)
Deep Heat Bath Tonic (mini)
All new clients also received a R100 voucher to spend on The website.
Please remember the items that I recieved are tailored to my profile and that what others get night be different!
So that's my box for August
