Toni & Guy Casual Collection
HotSo I was super excited to try out Toni and Guy’s Casual Collection for hair. The products that I received from Beauty Bulletin: the Holding Hairspray, the Sea Salt Texturising spray and the shampoo and conditioner. This week-end I decided to get on with my first hair style and opted to start safe by creating a neat bun that I wore to work the next day (Monday). On that Sunday, I simply washed my hair with the provided shampoo and conditioner. First of all, I have never had a shampoo wash my hair so clean. And trust me I have tried all of the shampoos under the sun. This left my hair clean and my scalp felt refreshed…like it could breathe. The conditioner is so creamy and cooling and I could feel the rich lather get to work. Once rinsed, my hair felt soft and manageable which was great when it came to drying my hair. Once my hair was dry and after having put in my regular hair and scalp treatment that I occasionally use, I sprayed the tiniest amount of the Sea Salt Texturising spray from the root of my hair to the tip. This spray is said to “create texture and body with light to medium hold”. The reason why sprayed a little amount was because I needed my hair to actually lie quite flat on my head for the bun so I didn’t need too much body. The spray is suitable for all hair types. If you are looking for a beach hair type of look, this is the stuff to use. Then what I did is a used a brush with dense bristles and brushed up my hair to the crown of my head. Once I was satisfied with the smoothness of the hair leading up to the crown of my head, I tied my hair into a ponytail and wrapped it around to create the bun. Before finishing off the look, I made sure that all my hair was smoothed back behind my ears, at my hairline and at the back of my head – so that there were no fly-aways. Once I was happy, I used the holding spray to set everything into place and make sure the hairstyle would hold for the duration of the day. The Toni & Guy Casual Flexible Hold Hairspray is probably my favourite product of the range. It is said to be a lightweight holding spray, it truly does hold the style in place. The trick is not to spray half the can onto your head. A little bit goes a long way. Next time I will really put the holding spray to the test when I create curls and see how long they will last with both the sprays used.
User reviews
I received an envelope with two rather daunting bottles of hairstyling products in August (yes, 2013) from Beauty Bulletin. Considering that I had just got a rather disasterous haircut that went rather well with the several peronal crises I found myself in, I locked these bottles away until recently.
My hair had grown and the disasterous and unflattering haircut was no more. My life was back on track and I finally had the guts to try using hairspray. This was a big step as even blowdrying hair is something I almost never do.
I started experimenting with the Toni & Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray. What I noticed immediately was that it tends to dry out my hair if I use it too much, but that is the only con. I spray it onto my semi-dry hair and gently work it through with my fingers. When my hair eventually dries, it does the best impression of curling it can - which says a lot as my hair just does not curl.
The Toni & Guy Flexible Hold Hairspray was still sitting silently in my closet, trying to win my confidence, but not doing very well. Now, I have thick, straight hair that does not take kindly to doing what is expected of it (a little bit like me). Most mornings I twist it up and use a clip to keep it there, but some days it just does not like to stay up. One morning, out of desperation I attacked it with the hairspray - and you know what? It was love at first spray! It does not create a hard helmet on top of your head. It is almost like spraying an invisible (and not so icky) spiderweb onto your hair. You cannot see it and its hold is almost invisible, yet incredibly strong.
Lately I have started to spray the Sea Salt Texturising Spray onto my hair and then the Flexible Hold Hairspray just on the area around my face to keep the hair in place. It works, it is completely invisible and it smells great.
In less that a month I have gone from being afraid of styling products to being afraid of running out! Give it a try, you might just love it as well.
Imagine my surprise when I ripped open the package at the post office and got a Shampoo, Conditioner for dry and damaged hair, leave in hair conditioner and gloss serum to try out. I was really excited. The only problem with testers is that I needed quite a bit of the shampoo and conditioner! My favourite products where the leave in conditioner and hair serum.
I washed and conditioned my hair as usual and used a walnut amount of the leave in conditioner in my hair working on the lower reaches of the hair away from the roots, I was amazed how little comb out was required and searching through my large assortment of hair care products I saw I had purchased this very same product ages ago - but had failed to read the instructions properly and worked it into the roots. If you do this you hair can appear oily so avoid it at all costs.
I am not one to spend ages on drying my hair - in fact I allowed my hair to dry naturally and then used the serum to rub a few spots into my palm and then comb through my hair with my fingers. I took photos immediately after and was amazed by how much less damaged the hair looked. I often wear my hair in a pony tail, plait or bun and found that the natural kink caused by the these styles once removed caused my hair to hang in waves round my face and gave far more volume to the style. I have since gone out and bought a huge round Revlon styling brush instead of a flat paddle to style my hair with a blow-dryer heat and this has made a huge impact on the smoothness. please look at the photos I upload, the final being the heat styled version. I have purposely not styled the hair so you can see the full length of hair. I love the Leave in conditioner and serum for flyaway hairs and frizz and went out to buy the bigger versions immediately! Must comment on the classy packaging and the made to order analysis of my hair type. Thank you for the chance to try out the product I am an avid convert now!
Normally my hair is very frizzy knots easily and extremely static. It takes me forever to get it straightened and styled. I spend at least 2 and a half hours getting my hair done. My hair length is extra-long as the salon describes it.
I received the products and decided to give it a try. After washing it I could already feel a difference in my hair. The conditioner just finished off the soft and healthy feeling.
Normally brushing out my hair after washing it is such a mission but this time it was so easy. Normal brushing time is about 20min to get all the knots out. Brushing time after Tony & Guy Products was 7min.
After drying my hair it is normally knotted again but not this time to my surprise. Straightening was so quick. For the first time in a long time I got my hair done in an hour and a half.
Finishing off my look I used the shine spray and the serum from the Glamour collection and by looking at the photos you can see the difference for yourself.
The only thing I would suggest is to give it a longer lasting smell. That fresh washed hair smell doesn’t last. Other than that I will recommend this product to anyone.
Now that I have used the Sea Salt Texturising spray for over a week now, I must say that this may push the Holding Spray off it's pedestal. This stuff is amazing. It give such beautiful beachy waves and leaves no frizz. The nozzle is easy to work with, although when you first use the spray, you need to pump it a few times to get the product to eventually spray out evenly.
My advice however, would be to use a little bit and not too often as it can leave the hair a tad dry. But if you use a hair mask once a week and be wary of how often you use the Texturising spray, your hair should be fine.
This spray has a fresh scent and all you simply need to do is spray the product from root to tip and style as desired using just your fingers. Simple. No hassles.
The holding power is actually pretty impressive so your wavy tresses will stay for some time. It does not leave a greasy feeling to your hair and no build-up of product.
I would highly recommend this to any beach lover or those that are simply looking for that sexy bed head type of hair. This is the stuff for you!
I have thick and long hair which is relatively healthy but I have very dry ends. It’s particularly frustrating because when I wash my hair, the top looks great and the bottom looks pathetic and dry. Two days later, the bottom looks nice but the top looks super flat.
I used the Toni and Guy shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair. The texture of the conditioner is supple, it’s like body butter…for your hair :)
I actually never felt that my usual shampoo and conditioner was lacking, but the difference I felt with the Toni and Guy shampoo and conditioner was remarkable!
I added the sea salt texturising spray while my hair was still wet and rubbed it in with my fingertips.
I followed a styling tip from the Toni and Guy website called “Lived in Chic”.
I then and blow-dried my hair.
The results were fantastic, without even properly styling. My hair felt rich and the layers in my hair were enhanced.
I then teased the top strands of my hair and used the flexible hold hairspray to keep it in place.
I love the smell of the texturising spray and flexible hold spray, it lasts even after a few days.
The end result was fantastic, my hair had incredible volume at the top and the bottom was rich and shiny.
The products I will definitely recommend is the sea salt texturising spray and the conditioner for damaged hair. But of course, they all achieve optimum results when used together
shampoos, conditioners, treatments and a range of styling products to shape, hold, tease, protect, moisturise or tame your locks will help you get cutting edge style every time. I bought the shampoo and conditioner just to try but, believe I would love to get hold of the entire range, including the frizz control treatments and hair sprays. Its a great investment for great looking hair. I found the shampoo great smelling, so fresh and mild on my sensitive scalp. This light conditioner detangles and nourishes , leaving your hair moisturised and ready to style. The two are designed to work together for maximum penetration and super stylish, great hair. I am not too fond of heat styling but, with these products I am super confident my hair is protected from heat styling and harsh weather conditions. After I shampoo'd lightly and applied conditioner which I left on for around 10 min, i lightly towel dried. Not too hard, that might damage hair. My hair smelt very nice and fresh and I was ready to style.
I used rollers/curlers in my hair before using a hair dryer to dry my locks. And when they were ready to come out, wow I had amazingly soft, fragrant and fresh looking hair. What A GREAT PRODUCT. I am a huge fan now.
The packaging is to die for, so fresh and funky with clear guidelines on how to use which product. I am a bit sceptical about the price and will try and use as little as possible to make my product last longer but, oh the temptation? anyway, beauty always has a price and I love this one.
I think I keep going back because of the big-name factor and some of the packaging/marketing is so good it makes me want to take it home and try it
Next items to try is the styling range. Eep cannot wait
I do have damaged hair, it tends to be quite dry and definitely very frizzy. It is also very unmanageable when wet, almost impossible to brush.
I have had excellent results since trying out Tony & Guy products. I huge improvement to my hair’s manageability. It has made getting ready in the mornings less stressful and less time consuming. My hair doesn’t feel as brittle and the brush just glides through my wet hair, causing a lot less breakage. The leave in conditioner was light weight, so it didn’t have that sticky feeling once dried that a lot of the other products on the market have that I have tried. The glossing serum was not oily and soaked in very quickly. My hair has no need to be straightened afterwards. All that’s needed is a good blow dry, with of course my tony & Guy hair dryer that I have had for ages.
I will defiantly be hitting Discem or Clicks to continue using these products.
Really Awesome
