I have to say that this moisturiser is one of the best I have tried!
I suffer with insomnia which leaves by skin looking dull and pale so I needed a product that could bring back some life into my skin.
I have been using The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser for 3 months and my skin is hydrated and fresh.
I constantly receive compliments from people saying that my skin is glowing and refreshed.
The moisturizer is a gel type, citrus scented and orange in colour.
I asked the ladies in Body Shop for something to make my skin glow before my wedding and also read that Vitamin C would be a good option for this. I started using it about 2 months before my wedding and after about a week the area by my cheeks/chin was itchy and had a burning sensation. I think the Vitamin C was to harsh for my skin. I stopped using it immediately and now only use a little bit once every two weeks. I love the smell and the light texture of the gel but it is just to harsh for me.
The body shop has been one of my favourite skincare brands since I started decided to religiously follow a beauty regime. The body shop has a variety of rangers to cater for different skin concerns. I personally love their vitamin C range, which contains the star product of today's review, the vitamin c glow-boosting moisturiser.
The Brand:
The Body Shop was founded in 1976 in Brighton, England, by Anita Roddick. It is a brand that aims to make a positive difference in the world by offering high-quality, naturally-inspired skincare, hair care and make-up produced ethically and sustainably. The products offered by the body shop are formulated using raw ingredients and accessories from all four corners of the earth.
The vitamin c range was specifically formulated to target dull, grumpy skin and to add a touch of radiance back into it.
"The ultimate antidote to tired skin"
The range contains several excellent products such as a moisturiser, scrub, radiance capsules, liquid peel, face spritz, eye reviver duo and powder mix.
I decided to incorporate their moisturiser in my daily morning skincare regime and was used immediately after I used my face spritz.
The Packaging:
The Body Shop has added a touch of luxury to their packaging. The moisturiser is sealed in an hard glass orange tub and sealed with a steady black lid. The label is stuck around containing all the vital information about the product. The tub can be easily recycled by simply removing the label once you have used up the product. I love reusing this tub to add my moisturiser or coconut oil whenever I am travelling.
The Ingredients:
The moisturiser encompasses a long list of ingredients but one that I want to highlight is Tetrahexyldecy Ascorbate. According to the research that I did on this product, Tetrahexyldecy Ascorbate is supposed to be a stable version of Vitamin C. It is added to moisturisers to ensure that the product protects your skin by being an antioxidant and assists in brightening your skin.
The Application:
As with many citrus based products I was hit with the smell of oranges once I unscrewed the lid, which I find to be a very welcoming smell especially in the morning.
The moisturiser has a gel-like texture which gives off a cooling sensation. I generally apply a small amount in circular motions all over my face. The gel texture absorbs easily into skin.
The Price:
The glow boosting moisturiser retails for R180.00 for a 50ml tub.
The Verdict:
I thoroughly enjoyed using this moisturiser. I am already onto my third tub. I love how gentle and lightweight the formula is. With regard to the name of the moisturiser being a glow boosting moisturiser, I don't see much of a difference in that aspect. I do, however, feel that my face feels a lot softer after using this moisturiser. The formula works well with my skin type which is dry skin, but I feel that it might not be suitable for people who have oily skin. If you are looking for a fresh scented, lightweight moisturiser to rehydrate your skin in the morning, the Body Shop vitamin C glow boosting moisturiser is one worth considering.
The body shop! One of the BEST brands a girl can buy from. The fragrance is lovely and the end result from using the product is good. Absolutely love this product.
I picked up this little jar in my local The Body Shop store a few months ago because its promise of 'fighting dull, tired and grumpy skin' was irresistible. I knew that it would be handy in winter, when my dry skin would be at its, well, driest. So whip it out in winter I did, and it actually delivered. I'm actually still using it in spring, because it's just too good to stop using, I love how the citrusy smell reinvigorates me in the morning, and the texture is so soothing and cool on the skin. You might think that gel on dry skin wouldn't be as effective as a thick cream formula, but no, it's just as moisturising. Amazingly, it does provide a natural-looking glow when applied, but that won't last for too long in hot weather. I haven't noticed a long-term difference, but day-to-day? Definitely.
This is only one product in the sizeable Vitamin C range, and I'd definitely recommend that you have a look at the others.
Im obsessed with the fragrance. Perfect for winter. it leaves your skin feeling refreshed. excellent pick me upper for those dreaded early winter morning.
looooove this stuff! lol mainly cause of the smell that is so uplifting and awesome! refreshing beyond! its so lovely to rub on face that i have been applying it loads to soak up into my skin and give it some life now that the weather is s cold. the one problem i have with it is that it burns my skin slightly. but iv just decided to look past that and enjoy it cause its so worth it!!
This cream contains Camu Camu berry extract, a brillant source of Vitamin C and a super-food for skin. Vitamin Cimproves texture and tone and increases collagen production for smoother, firmer skin. It is also a powerful antioxidant that protects skin from environmental damage.
I love the cute, colourful packaging, but it's a pity that the product is in an unhygienic jar. Be sure to use a spatula when removing the product from the jar to avoid contamination. Also, this means that the Vitamin C will lose it's potency quite quickly due to contact with oxygen.
Now, on to the moisturiser itself...
The texture is lovely and lightweight, soothing on the skin. It reminds me of their Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet, another amazing product from TBS also reviewed on the site. The citrus-y scent is fresh and invigorating and acts as a nice morning pick-me-up.
The only downside besides the packaging is the lack of SPF, as it makes a perfect day cream to wear under makeup.
Well, did it make me glow? I definitely noticed an improvement to my skin's overall radiance and tone, from the first application. I anticipate great results over time!
