Use the back of your hand as a palette and dab the brush into the liquid. Apply only a small amount to the end of the brush and lightly blend the foundation onto the face and neck area, starting from the top centre of your face and working your way outwards. Use long sweeping downward strokes, following the natural direction of hair growth.

I own 5 other Body Shop brushes and they are all great. I expected the same from the foundation brush especially considering the hefty price tag. Unfortunately, it was a real miss for me and it went straight back to the store...Here's why:
I believe that if I have to bother to use a brush for foundation instead of my fingers, it is only because of better application results. Why else throw away your money if you can always use your fingers which don't cost anything? Well, when I tried using this brush I was left with such streaks that it actually took me twice as long to smooth them out with my fingers after using the brush! I don't see the point as I can use my fingers in the first place! I believe where TBS went wrong is when they made it too thin. The moment it touches liquid foundation the bristles split into these "branches"and apply foundation as lines.
I had to return it immediately and it actually put me off all foundation brushes for a while until I recently found QVS foundation/concealer brush at Woolies. It gives me a stunning finish and I finally get why people would use brushes for foundation! It made a huge difference! Check out my review on it shortly!
I recommend to give this one a pass!
