I was very surprised to hear that this lipstick is edible because it's made from 100% food-grade ingredients. This is great news for all ladies, especially those who tend to lick their lips a lot (which I sometimes do) as there should be no bad effects on the body. Everything from blueberries, pomegranate seed oil, community trade coconut oil and cocoa butter are in this small 2g lipstick.
It's very moist unlike the normal lip colour from The Body Shop. So moisturizing, you don't need a lip balm for a base! The colours are sheer and can easily be built up for a more intense pigment on the lips. All the colours that the Constantia store had on the shelves had a shimmer to them, and I was told that there are 9 colours in the international range but only 7 have been released to the South African market (The store only had 4 colours on the shelf because all the other ones had already sold out!).
I bought the Sheer Candy shade (04) which is a slightly dusky mauve light pink. I thought there wouldn't be much colour payoff, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well the pigment showed up on my lips. It also has a beautiful scent that my nose can't seem to distinguish the exact scent of, but it's very pleasant and makes the lipstick a treat to use.
The packaging is really tastefully done. The lipstick comes in a thin plastic tube that is made to look like metal. I was told that the tubes are made out of recycled materials which is of course a great bonus for the environment. the base of the tube is embossed with little apples which I think is a nice cute touch.
What I don't like about this lipstick is that it is not as long lasting as one would hope for. If you are VERY careful with your lips - no drinking of coffees or lip licking, it looks good for about an hour or so. But if you are like me, constantly sipping on coffee and water you will have to apply the lipstick often throughout the day. Another con for this product is the cost of it for the amount of lipstick you get. The tube only contains 2g of the product where other lipsticks around the same price range contain up to twice the amount of product. I paid R95 for this lipstick so one would hope to get more for that amount of money, especially because this lipstick will not last that long as you have to apply it often.
Overall though, I really enjoy using this lipstick and it does a good job of moisturising and adding colour to your lips.
