I cannot think of the words to describe how amazing this product is. I think Sally Hansen products embody the characteristics of quality and long lasting coverage. The complete care range has been a favourite of mine since I discovered it, but at R89 a bottle it’s a little pricey to get all the colours your heart desires. This is where the Xtreme range steps in. At R49 a bottle it is a lot more affordable and such a treat for the eye – there are currently 30 different colours to choose from including colourful glitters. Let me get to the product.
As with the other Sally Hansen bottles, you can see that a lot of thought went into the design of the bottle and lid. The lid has a fantastic shape that allows a person to grip it easily and feel in complete control of the movement of the brush across the nail. The brush is shaped in such a way that you can easy spread them to cover a large area of the nail or keep them together for the crisp cutting in along the cuticle line. The bristles are a clear plastic with rounded tips that allows the brush to move easily and not leave brush stroke marks. The bottle is easy to grip and hold while applying the polish.
The nail polish itself is really fantastic! The coverage is such that one coat is enough to create a beautiful consistent colour on the nail. I have the “So Poppy” red colour that only required 1 coat to get a beautiful rich red colour on my nails. It has a beautiful shimmer and shine to it that I just love, especially when the sunlight catches it. The drying time is another plus. Within 2 minutes the polish was dry to the touch and starting to harden on nail. Within about 10 minutes it was completely hard and one can safely wash hands and go about your business. I also have a fabulous “Celeb Chic” which is a glittery silver polish that is simply fantastic and again, 1 coat is enough but 2 coats really sets off the colour wonderfully. The “First Blush” I have is a beautiful soft marshmallow pink that looks nice and subtle with 1 coat but you need 2 - 3 coats to get the colour of what it looks like in the bottle. What’s great is that when layering there are no air bubbles formed, I’ve learnt this the hard way with other nail polishes where a huge chunk of my polish cracks and falls off. When the layers are sealed in with the Sally Hansen Acrylic top coat, it looks good for a full week with no chipping or cracking at all!
There are some colours that I really loved that they discontinued, “Shooting star” and “Lime lights” were a firm favourite of mine. But on their website they have a colour suggestion for the discontinued colours which I really liked. Often a person isn’t sure what to switch you when a colour you love is discontinued, this feature provides some guidance.
All is all this is a GREAT product that deserves 10 out of 10! Good Price, Quality, Great selection and variety of colours from a trusted brand.
