Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara

I love this Mascara Wand. The brush is a nice large size so you can get to the base of the eyelashes and pull/wiggle the brush through easily. I particularly love the little bobble shape on the end I find this perfect for getting to the lashes in the corner of the eyes! I find if gently brush the mascara wand over a tissue after removing from the tube it helps prevent clumps however if I do still get clumps I just brush my mascara brush through quick and it is picture perfect. I bought this as part of a special with the following Rimmel Products: Apocaliptic Lip Lacquer, 60Second Nail Varnish in Caramel Cupcake and a nifty bag which I now use as my study bag! What a bargain and I love all of the products included!

I picked this up when i couldn't get my favourite mascara which is Maybelline colossal as my usual staple and Estée Lauder sumptuous extreme when I want to treat myself! But my goodness this mascara us comparable! It has the same giant brush which I've grown to love! I have long thick lashes i usually use mascara because of my loose powder that seems to coat my lashes when i apply! Just one coat and i have scandously full thick long lush lashes! Wow for R 90 I'll buy this again!

When i first used this product i was amazed with the length of my eyelashes, i didnt have to add more then one coat, i didnt have to use my eyelash curlers either. The price is not bad for something like this, however i would not purchase this product again, after my third day of using it, it seems to have gone clumpy/lumpy, which means i have to use a different brush to get the clumpyness out of my lashes.

I really love this product and would recommend it to anyone. Using an eyelash curler only emphasises your eyes that much more.

With a catchy name like Scandaleyes, obviously temptation got the better of me to try this out. I have no regrets. The brush works wonders to create a dramatic effect and with practice it does not clump. You are left with gorgeous long eyelashes!

As you can see I buy and try a LOT of mascaras and I am hard to please when it comes to them.

I am really impressed with the Rimmel Scandal Eyes though. As you can see in the picture my lashes look full, each lash is coated and they appear longer.

It is also not a messy mascara to apply, it has a huge brush which I really like its "juicy" and it "clicks" closed so its simple to make sure its air tight.

The tube doesn't have much description of what it is trying to achieve besides volume and it does this! A great mascara!

Simply adore this product. I needed to find the best mascara that gives great volume and I cannot begin to describe how glad I am I chose this one.

The Rimmel Scandal mascara comes in a super cute bright orange packaging. The shape of the mascara is much larger than the other Rimmel mascaras that are currently on sale, as the definitive characteristic of this mascara is the massive brush. For those who are use to much smaller mascara brushes, it may take a few times to get use to using such a big brush, but what I like is that it applies the product evenly across the lashes. This mascara does not clump on me even after applying a few coats. I like that the consistency of the product is not too dry or too liquidy, and the black is intense. It really enhances the length and thickness of lashes without the drama of clumps.

I did however notice that it was very difficult applying this mascara to my lower lashes, as my lashes are short.

Overall, this is a good mascara that is more affordable than other drugstore brands. This mascara retails for R89.99 compared to R100+ for other mascaras. The packaging is cute, the big brush is great for an even, clumpless application. A good few coats of this baby will finish up any rocking eye makeup look!

For someone, that doesn’t wear make-up often, I want something that makes it easier for me. Usually I spend about half an hour applying mascara, because I hate clumpy spider eyes! I found my go-to brand (won’t mention it here) and I stuck with it. When trying out the ScandalEyes Mascara, I had the same problem as always...getting out clumps! The brush is really huge, and for me it’s hard to apply the mascara without smudging everywhere. One thing I did notice though is that there is no heavy feeling after you applied the mascara. It felt really light, and I could where it all day without my eyes itching. So I don’t think it will be a problem for ladies with sensitive eyes. But for me, I just don’t like the spider eye look!

I found this mascara brush a bit difficult to use, the brush seems too large (I might get used to it after a while). I also felt that the mascara took a bit long to dry. The mascara its self is very creamy compared to what I have been using this allowed for easy application and minimal clumping, but also resulted in a creamy blob at the end of the brush, increasing the chances of errors! I have long thick eye lashes already, and felt that the bristles on the brush were just too soft and did not support my eye lashes the way it probably should. I enjoy the fact that the mascara stays on! No flacking, no smudging and after a day at work it looked like my mascara was just applied! The formula of the mascara is amazing! It feels light on my eye lashes, it does not weigh my eye lashes down, if I touch my lashes they feel soft and smooth and I love it! My mother also gave this mascara a go, but she did not enjoy using this mascara due to the fact that she has really puffy eye lids and the brush was just to big :( BUT, she loves what it does for my eyes ;) they really do look sculpted and healthy!

when i received it, i was very excited to do the review. I was going to use it straight away, and then review it the next day. Unfortunately my reviewing had been put on hold, and i am glad in a way, because it gave me more time to get to know the product.

The appeal of the product is what i think draws the potential buyers to buy it, although, unfortunately, it is just like every other mascara.

I was unfortunately not pleased with the messiness of the mascara - it brings out too much of the liquid, and deposits it at the top of the tube where the lid screws on.

if you are a person with small eyes, such as myself, applying this mascara means keeping your eyes wide open, having to make sure that you don't mess mascara where it need not be, and the big applicator proves to be a problem getting to the smaller lashes.

It also takes a while to dry, leaving you with those "dots and lines" just below your brow.

Maybe the formula is different, but the applicator always makes the mascara.

The positive is - it doesn't run or smudge :)

I think the applicator is too big. Can't really get to the finer hair. Would like to build up the lashes, not try and get it done with the first application. Not impressed.

The packaging on this baby is hard to miss. It's huge and almost glow in the dark orange. The maxdensity brush is also 50% larger and thicker. This has proven to be a problem for some, but I actually like how the brush really coats each and every lash. But yes, you need to be a bit more careful and patient when you use this massive wand or you might end up with black goo all over your eyelid.

Okay, so Rimmel claims this mascara has 3x the collagen (for plump, sculpted lashes) and 3x the keratin (for strong, healthy lashes). They also mention that this brush is more flexible and that the bristles flex in to deposit mascara and then flex out to comb through lashes. "Volume so loud your lashes will scream". I can definitely agree with a few of these points. My lashes look more noticeable, blacker, lengthened and there is added volume. The pic below shows it all. Now, there might be a bit of clumping if you apply too many coats or if you don't let each coat dry before applying the next coat. You can see in the pic that I experienced a bit of clumping, but it does hold a nice curl.

Like most mascara's this wand collects quite a bit of goop at the end of the brush, but cause of it's significant size that goop is multiplied. This can be annoying for some and if left on the brush you'll be guaranteed a clumpy look. I love the length this mascara gives me and I haven't noticed any flaking during the day. If you don't layer this too much then your lashes will still feel pretty soft and not crunchy or hard. This is a wet formula mascara so that's why it's integral that you let each layer dry before applying more. I have fairly long lashes naturally so my results might be different to yours. But one things for sure this mascara makes an impact by making your lashes super black.

The packaging is super easy to spot in your makeup bag and the tube and brush are massive. I compared the size of the scandal 'eyes mascara to another Rimmel mascara I have. (Glam'Eyes Day 2 Night) and as you can see from the pic it's quite a considerable difference. The tube also has a nice seal on it so it locks everything in and your mascara stays 'fresh' for longer. This tube also contains a whopping 12ml of product, which is alot more than an average mascara which on average contains 9ml. Overall I really love the results this mascara gives and for only R89,95 it isn't going to break the bank.

Hi everyone. I was quite intrigued about the “scandal and mystery” of the build-up to this product release and when I found out it was for mascara I was thrilled. Mascara is the one beauty product I cannot live without and I am always trying new brands to see if their claims match up to expectations. I have been using Rimmel scandal eyes mascara every day for two weeks now so that I can bring to you a full and fair review.

My first impression of the product before I used it was “WOW” this is bold. I was hoping that the packaging would be representative of the products claims of creating shaped, plumped and exaggerated lashes. The florescent orange colour is attention grabbing and it would definitely draw my eye straight to this product amongst others. The colour and bold size are fitting to what the product claims to offer. The name really stood out for me. I found the play on words very clever and relevant to the product and advertising aspect.

I used scandaleyes mascara for the first time on a night out. I really fell in love with the effect it gave when paired with some contouring eye makeup. It definitely gives a bold effect. Although the brush is quite large I personally felt quite comfortable using it. This may be because I am experienced with using makeup tools but this might feel a bit uncomfortable for your average user. The formula worked well on my lashes. I did not experience too much clumping although I do feel that any mascara claiming to be completely clump free is far-fetched. The formula is thicker than usual and may feel a bit heavy for anyone who doesn’t use mascara too often but I found it to be quite comfortable and wearable

The formula contains keratin and collagen for healthy and strong lashes. Throughout the two weeks of using the mascara my lashes do feel marginally stronger and thicker. One thing I can say is that it definitely hasn’t affected my lashes negatively. I have not experienced any falling out lashes.

One coat is enough for a day time look and is great for anyone who is on the go and doesn’t have time to fuss over eye shadow and eyeliner. If you want to go all out for a night time look, apply two coats of the mascara, some bold eye shadow and loads of eyeliner

Overall I am impressed with this product and would recommend it to all my girlies. My only pointer is to bear in mind that we are all different and products work better for some than others, but at a price of only R89.95 it is worth the try. Hope you all enjoy this mascara as much as I do.

You cannot miss the bright orange packaging! The tube is a bit big for travelling though. I do like the fact that the tube ‘clicks’ closed, so you are sure it is sealed properly. The size of the tube is not just to accommodate the sizable brush, but the tube holds 12ml of product! Value for money, I think.
The biggest (excuse the pun!) feature of this mascara, is the MASSIVE brush. The mascara is a stunning intense black, which I love. The formulation is quite wet/’gloopy’.
I found the brush hard to use at first and if you are not careful, you land up with mascara all over your lid. I like the formulation because it is easy to build up. You have to make sure that there is not a lot of product on the brush and that the previous coat is dry. Verdict: If you take your time with the application of this mascara, you will be VERY HAPPY with the result, especially if you love a more dramatic look.

I have naturally long eyelashes so my mission is definition rather than length. I love the on-trend almost neon orange packaging but both the size of the brush and the actual tube are simply way too large for my liking.

Overall, the product gives an average application - lashes were coated in black mascara and I didn't experience any smudging or clumps. The huge brush offers good extension and definition but is just too big to get into the corner of the eye - I didn't even attempt to put it to my lower lashes for fear of smudging.

In my opinion, the packaging is just too bulky in my hand and for my on-the-go make-up bag.

The only bad side for me is that few strands it clumps together, for that I just use my eye lash brush :-)

This mascara is definitely striking. The packaging is bright (I will never lose my mascara again LOL) and big! When you open it the surprise continues with a huge brush.

It promises volume with no clumping. I am ready to confirm that on my lashes the clumping is really minimal. The volume is there though perhaps not to the complete maximum but I am satisfied with it. I like that the formula is nice and creamy and coats the lashes nicely. The colour is nice intense black too! I like that it doesn't have fallout as it dries. The brush requires getting used to though. At first I touched my lids slightly a couple of times but after some time I got the hang of it. I just have to remove the excess mascara hanging on the end of the brush in order to prevent smudges.

Overall I enjoy using this product. It is great for work and for a night out. The price is pretty good too. I recommend to try it out!

I dont know why some people are saying this mascara is clumpy, either the formula is not the same in all the Scandal'eyes tubes or its the way its been applied I dont know. But I found it to go on easily and no clumps at all, if anything I found it to look very natural as you can see by my picture I attached,sorry its super close up eek!!!!!. Its just a darker longer version of my own lash which I love, no 'I have tons of mascara on' which I realy dont like when lashes look like it has thick dry black paint on it.

For the price of R89.95 , the lovely application and gorgeous lashes I have to say its a very good buy.

Strangely you can see the reflection of the Scandal'eyes mascara in my eye (in pic) lol. Weird O.o

It’s a great big intimidating brush at first... but it is so easy to use and easily coats all the lashes. As far as scandalous volumous coverage goes... I am not 100% sold.

For day to day natural (but better) looking dark lashes, this is perfect. Easy to apply and effective, the under R100 price tag is an added bonus. Often I buy mascara and am disappointed with the results, but this actually does a really good job, it just takes a few coats to get that thick glammy look.

I would recommend this product because it is so practical for day to day gorgeousness.
Rimmel Scandaleyes will fit in perfectly to a night (or day) of glamming :)

I have been excited about this product ever since I was asked to review it, and it certainly did not disappoint! It is one of the most inexpensive mascaras on the market (R89.95) that delivers incredible results!

I really love the big MaxDensity brush! After the first application more than 90 percent of my lashes were beautifully coated. Although the big brush was a little intimidating at first, and it took some time to get adjust, it was relatively easy to use – even when coating the tiny lashes on the bottom of the eye and in the corners. It just took some patience and delicate application to coat the tiny lashes.

The mascara - with its thick formula (3x collagen and 3x keratin) – opens and defines the eyes while it creates the effect that your lashes are longer, but it does not “volumize” the lashes. The mascara will definitely not create the false lash effect that the adverts perceptibly suggest. Therefore, if that is the look you desire you will have to apply false lashes with the mascara.

Despite its thick formula the mascara did not clump and it didn’t feel heavy on my lashes – even after two coats. I have experienced many types of mascara that you can actually feel on your lashes, but with the Scandal Eyes Mascara I completely forgot I had it on!

The shade of the mascara is also intense, which makes the eyes pop dramatically. With no eye liner, no eye shadows and no false lashes my eyes looked incredibly scandalous and fabulous!

This is by far the biggest mascara brush to ever come near my lashes. I thought it would poke my eye out at first but I soon got the hang of it. I started at the base of my lashes and did the wriggle thing to build them up. It creates great length and definition which are 2 important factors for me as I don't have extremely long lashes anyway. As for volume, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary for me so wasn't blown away there.

Overall, a good mascara that I enjoy using as its easy once you've got the hang of it. You are able to reach even the short little lashes and it creates lovely length.

This is one of my fav mascaras of all time! REASONS:
- Huge brush that actually helps curl your lashes unlike the finicky brushes that other brands are now supplying
- Soft bristles that make application easy
- Great formula that goes on smoothly and coats the lashes
- Gives you gorgeous lashes which you can build up on

I have done some searching on the web and looked at other reviews to see what people thought and was surprised at some of the blogs out there about this product. A lot of ppl complained about the brush size ( which was a pro for me ) , the bright orange of the packaging ( also a plus for me ) as they said they wanted something stylish ( I never take my mascara out with me unless I am "changing my look '' and going from work to play ), they said it is gooey and clumpy and a lot had pics of how their eyes looked ( I think they put too much on and didn't layer it - don't they know how to apply mascara? ). The other thing ppl complained about was that it get clumpy on the brush after awhile and I havent used it long enough to get to that stage yet ( only had it since last week Thursday ).

This product is something I will buy and continue to buy...its not only effective but also really good value. - how many of your current mascara's cost R90? Most of mine cost over R200 and one that cost me a small fortune and didn't do what it promised.

This is going to be one of those products that people will fall into one of two categories: Love it or hate it. Best thing to do is go to one of the stores that let you try testers and have a go.

When i was young, it was all about what to wear and how to wear it in order to look good, however, times have changed and now we can use actual beauty products to look good and make us feel like we can take over the world.
I have been wearing mascara since high school, which is about 10 years ago so i know a little something or two about it, however, the amount of times you try products out until you find the right one is endless... they either clump too much, or don’t clump enough, don’t curl your lashes, or are too wet! When did mascara purchasing get so complicated?
Well ladies, the search is over, because i can undoubtedly say that i have found the perfect one! Happiness! Not only does it come in a bright orange tube, it is BIG, and come on ladies, we all know how you feel about that ;)
Long story short, this product is perfect, literally, it doesn’t clump, it spreads your lashes out perfectly to give you the big doe eyed look, doesn’t make them too wet and yes, it comes off no problemmo.... so what more can a girl ask for? Price you ask? Well, it is so damn affordable that you could buy a few, just so you know you will always have stock.
So don’t waste anymore time, go and get it, you won’t miss it! Just remember, big orange tube!

I am a mascara girl - there is no way that I can leave the house without a coating of mascara on my lashes. I'll forgo all other makeup but not my mascara. Needless to say I am always happy to try out new mascara.

My experience:

I’ve been using the mascara for almost a week now and thus far I have been incredibly impressed and happy with the results achieved. For once there is a mascara that isn’t promising far more than what it actually delivers. It’s not saying that you will get a false lash look but that with using this mascara you won’t really need to have flash lashes. In my opinion, it fulfils that claim – My lashes look great after 2 coats – beautifully lengthened and defined. But if you are after a full, dense look of hundreds of lashes this mascara does not do that. In my opinion I do not think (nor have I come across) any mascara that can take the limited lashes we naturally have and make them look the same as applying false eye lashes. What this mascara does do, is take what you have and make it look remarkably good. The bigger brush means that more of the product is picked up and applied to the lashes and this is what gives each lash a thicker look, creating the appearance of more lashes. The mascara itself is also a thick formula meaning that it gives the lashes a good coating and a person can easily build up more volume with more coats of mascara.

What I love:

There are no serious blatant lies in the advertising campaign - There immediately I am sold on this product. The product’s formula does not give my lashes a hard and brittle feeling. When applied my eyelashes feel soft and smooth. I can feel that there is product on my lashes but it does not weigh heavily on them and it’s hardly noticeable that there is something coating my lashes. The wand takes getting use to (because of its size) but it is phenomenal at it’s job of coating, separating and extending lashes leaving no clumps. I’ve only been using the mascara for just under a week now so I’ll have to wait and see how long lasting this effect will be. My past experience with mascaras has been that about 3 weeks into using a tube the clumping starts as the product begins to age and dry out.

What I dislike:

I can’t say that I am crazy about the packaging of the mascara. I am not a fan of orange so my opinion is completely biased. I personally like mascara tubes that have a touch of elegance or funkiness to them. I understand that the orange with black is suppose to draw a person’s attention to it on the shelves (I can’t think of any other mascara that has a bright orange tube) but personally I would probably reach for Rimmel’s The Max Volume Flash Mascara because the packaging of that is more funky – bright pink with gold print. The Scandal Eyes Mascara is however cheaper and that’s probably why the packaging is not as expensive looking and feeling as the other Rimmel
mascaras. I honestly can’t say that I have any other feelings of dislike or disappointment towards this product.

At only R89.95 this is an affordable mascara that delivers great results!
