This product works perfectly ok when it comes to laying down the edges. The downfall is the fact that it leaves white flakes and breaks my edges.
I love the smell and consistency. It's neither hard and nor is it too soft, it's nice and thick. It probably can work better on someone else.
Its not so bad. I like it when I need a soft hold on my hair. I also finds it lays my edges longer when I tie a silk scarf on my head straigh after applying the product .
It has a good texture but it only layed my edges for a few minutes. I would recommend this to people with straight hair because it doesnt work as great for people with curls.
Okay first of, I was fustrated with this product, it only later my edges for literally 30 minutes and I have 4c natural hair. I put it aside and started using Aunt Jackie's flaxseed gel, which was more effective but didn't last long either. So I decided to combine the two by applying both together, starting with the edge control, there was more improvement but not enough until recently I switched the routine and using the Aunt Jackie gel 1st then I apply the pre edge control on top and it last those edges for the whole day, they don't look as proper as they did in the morning but at the end of the day they're still layed. The product is bad on it's own I must say unless combined. The flaxseed gel is moisturizing so my edges are not crusty at the end of the day. So overall I'll be buying this edge control again but before that I'll try out other ones that might be strong on their own.
I am not so chuffed with this product. It will only for a few minutes, then you have to keep reapplying it, and when you do so, it starts like you plastered vaseline on your hairline. It's a no from me.
In terms of price, I find it afforable in comparsion to other edge gel's, however the strong hold does not last whole day. When applying its puts it down well and adds some shine but after a few hours it changes colour and looks dull, the hold is not too tight either. I like the consistency because it is thick in comparison to others but that is the only thing I like about it.
My experience using this is edge control is that it only works for a few minutes after you apply it and then it starts making your edges look shiny and waxy looking in pictures, after you sweat a bit it no longer keeps the edges slick and laid they go back to normal and you are left looking shiny around your edges. So my take is that it's not so effective
I don't know why as curlies we seem to have a need to sleek our hair down and tame it to do what it was not designed to do but anyway, asikho lapho.
It is a clear gel that you apply to your edges and you sleek them down with a brush or something that will have the same effect.
This gel smells like a gel. Nothing special really. If you sweat a bit in your day, that scent will come through and you will notice it.
Does it sleek down the edges? Yes. My hair is quite curly so not long after that it would revert to its cute little curls, making the the "control" ineffective. I didn't find it hydrating for my hair type as well.
Use it up as quickly as you can and store it in a cool & dry place else it starts getting a bit mouldy.
Applying too much or re-applying later in the day will leave you with crusty residue when the gel dries up.
My process:
1. Apply gel to edges
2. Sleek down with a brush (toothbrush, most commonly used tool for this purpose)
3. Tie a silk scarf to make sure that edges lay down
4. Finish doing make-up
5. Remove scarf making sure gel is dry
6.Slay the day
