As a professional make-up artist red is one of the classic colour that is loved by many. Ruby woo is the first red lipstick that i bought and i have never looked back. There are plenty of shades of red but this one is unmatched. My go-to colour that never gets out of style. I love it. The best in the game..
I finally added this lipstick to my collection after receiving it for free with my Cyber Monday order. I just never gravitated towards it & I really don't get the hype.
The shade is pretty standard to me and I hate how it applies. I am familiar with the retro matte formula & Flat out Fabulous is my favourite of the bunch. I also find that it is not opaque.
Ruby Woo is just too dry, even with prep & prime lip & a liner. I generally gravitate to bright reds & Lady Danger is more my speed.
I'll keep it just to have it, but I don't see this one getting a ton of use. It's just meh ...
Definitely a must for all red lipstick lovers, its the ultimate bold and beautiful lipstick with a blue undertone .
Be warned though, this is a true matte lipstick, if you're not a fan of dry lipstick then apply a balm underneath.
I was lucky to win this lipstick in a competition and fell in love the second I tried it! The fire-engine red colour is eye-catching and bold. Because the lipstick is matte, it applies best on a smooth surface so I would recommend gently exfoliating your lips before application. The only downsides are the fact that it is hard to take off (micellar water eventually worked with some effort) and drying (so apply lip balm after taking the lipstick off. The pigment is rich, vibrant and on point for any season or occasion. I think the undertones make this a red shade that can suit a variety of skin tones.
This is that type of lipstick that makes you feel like a million bucks when you apply it!
A bit of a cult shade, this item is a staple for any beauty enthusiast! While I'm not that big a fan of the price-point, the longevity and pigmentation of this lipstick is worth it- I have yet to finish a tube!
A great choice for gals with warm skin tones.

I absolutely love this lipstick, if you’re looking for a staple red lipstick then Ruby Woo is for you. Perfect on every skin tone and brings out the whiteness of your teeth, long lasting and the colour is so vibrant
This lipstick is amazing. The colour is sooo intense. Perfect shade for a pinup look, with a pencil skirt and a tucked in ice white shirt, dark stocking and a classy heel.
One of the best colours in the MAC range. The vibrant red colour has a blue undertone so it will suit all skin colours. Although it can be a bit drying on the lips, it stays put all day. Absolutely love it !
So I've gone through so many reviews about this thing and decided to purchase it. It was around R290-340 I think, I didn't really consider it cause it was a shopping day (you know how it goes :P) but I was pretty excited. Firstly, I'd just like to say that ruby woo is a stunning colour, it gels incredibly well with most skin tones and looks beautiful with a brown lipliner and super dark wing eye. The problem with me is the matte formula and the crusty factor. If I'm paying approximately 300 bucks for a lipstick it best be comfortable, long wearing and doesn't crumble over. None of these are traits attributable to MAC's ruby woo. It's a dry lipstick, really dry and not matte. It gets ridiculously patchy over a few hours of wear and you just look parched and nasty. I'm not a fan and I gave it away after 4 months of trying myself out. Bye
I've never been a lover of red lipstick, mostly because I never liked how it looked on my skin tone - I'm more of a nude/pink kinda girl. I tried one of my aunt's lippies and I fell inlove! I'm on my 2nd one and it is the perfect colour, feels so light and it is so matte! It is perfect for a night out because you don't need to touch up too many times and it looks beautiful in photographs.
One of my friends uses this so often, it's practically her signature. And she has quite a lipstick collection. That's proof of this lipstick's power. This comes with a hefty price tag for a high-mid-range brand, but if you're into reds, perhaps look at it as an investment?
I am a pink girl, all the way. Red lipstick is not my thing. I really like how this suits anyone who wears it, though. That's rare for a bright red lipstick. Whether you have cool, warm or neutral undertones, it'll probably look great on you.
Red for fire.. exactly what someone would see in your with this fierce bright red.. i love it! When you want attention but don't want to ask for it, this is an ideal color to go for. Super matte, lasts all day, yes literally.. even after eating you still got your color visible. It lasts longer all my mac lipsticks lasts atleast for a year+.. so the price is worth it.
I am a huge lipstick fan and only purchase my lippie's from the Mac store. Ruby Woo just happens to be my total favourite, it brings out my natural skin and my lip structure in the best ways!!! My friends and family just love me in this Lippie all day.
This is a matte finish lipstick and I love all my matte lipsticks, because of this, I find it’s quite drying on the lips, but nothing that a lip balm over it can’t solve or some 8 hour cream prep prior won't alleviate. The pigmentation is amazing, one swipe of product and your lips are completely covered.
I honestly LOVE this red. It's such a perfect red for a girls night out. The price is also reasonable for a high end brand, however, the formula is quite drying and I often find that it is a bit difficult to apply to the lips, especially if you have dry lips.
An alternative product (and my absolute favorite) would be the NYX matte lip cream in the colour Monte Carlo, available at Clicks.
My mom bought me my first Ruby woo lipstick over two years ago and i fell in love with it from day one. If your looking for a statement color this is it, this lipstick is a show stopper and will turn heads everywhere you go and i recommend it to everyone as it goes well with every skin tone. I love the matte formula and how thick it applies so i don't have to apply it all day long which means it lasts for a long time so the price is definitely worth it.
I recently got MAC Ruby Woo as a gift, and i must say i am highly impressed with it. It just makes me look like a dream. The only down fall is that it may dry your lips abit, but used with a lip balm it works wonders, i use Elizabeth Arden's skin protectant and it works for me.
This was the first MAC lipstick I had ever purchased and it still remains my favourite!
Ruby Woo has amazing pigmentation which flatters any skin tone and if you want a show-stopper colour, now you have it. I will say that the Matte formula is a bit drying after a little while so I'd recommend a lip balm or vaseline to be used before applying the lipstick but that's a small inconvenience compared to how long it lasts for on your lips.
MAC Ruby Woo is the ultimate red lipstick which screams for attention while still looking classy making it a wonderful investment for your makeup bag.
Totally love Ruby Woo! It is bold and suits every skin tone. Truly makes you feel like a diva. The only issue is that it can dry out your lips so I would suggest using a lip primer or even moisturising your lips (give the moisturiser time to soak into your lips), then apply Ruby Woo.
If you are on a budget and want to buy just one Mac lipstick then buy the Mac Ruby Woo. Even if you are not a red lipstick lover, this lipstick will convert you into one…. Seriously. It is one of those red lipstick that looks good on majority of the ladies. It is a classic red bright lipstick. It is a cool toned red lipstick with blue undertones to it. The blue undertones in the lipstick make your teeth look much more white than they usually are. It is a perfect day time as well as a night time shade. I love how pigmented it is. This one stays on my lips forever, even with complete meals in between it does not fade out completely. It glams up my look every time I apply it. It is such a bright shade. Ruby Woo is a lipstick that screams “Look at Me”! It also makes me look a shade fairer than I actually am.
I do love the colour of this product - it is bright and I do feel that it is a great shade. However, the matte effect of this lipstick is uncomfortable. It is difficult to apply evenly and once on, it feels dry and slightly crusty. It is definitely a must-have for MAC lovers, but there are honestly better red matte lipsticks on the market. If MAC were to fix the formula just a tad, then it can easily be ten times better.
Matte is my favourite finish and Mac matte lippies are my favourite brand. Sadly, at the moment I only own 4: Velvet Teddy, Whirl, Tropic Tonic and Stone.
Stone is the perfect vampy colour for daytime. Velvet Teddy is the perfect nude that suits any skin tone. Whirl is the perfect mauve that goes with any makeup look. Tropic Tonic is the perfect neon shade for summer time.
I find them very comfortable on the lips and very long wearing. They smell and look absolutely delicious! I am definitely aiming to own all the shades.
Okay so I am not really a makeup person, But i am a sucker for Red Lipstick (and to be honest, who isnt)
So this Lipstick is manufacture by #MACcomestics and is sold at MAC counters going for around -/+ 200 depending on where you buy it. It is a pretty hefty price for a lipstick , i know, but it is worth it.
The lipstick comes in Matte and Retro Matte. It is super pigmented so it lasts a while.
Only downside i have about this lipstick is the chalky feeling it leaves on your lips, especially the retro matte one but a little moisturizer before application can hep that out.
A good investment for anyone that Loves BOLD REDS.
Give it a gander soon,
let me know what you think if you have it and have a lovely day.
I am generally a very shy person when it comes to daring make-up and fashion choices which means that 9 out of 10 times you would find in dull and safe colours and little to no make -up. A week ago a friend of mine was tired of me and my dull style and she decided to surprise me with the Mac Ruby Woo lipstick, obviously this was one big joke to me and I knew that she had wasted R210, 00 on a gift I was only going to look at and laugh at.
Long story short she pinned me down, put it on me (ok so maybe a little too dramatic, she strong armed me lol) and I honestly feel like my face came alive. Its rich texture means you only have to apply it once and its tone makes it a fit for any skin tone. Its daring but not overwhelming and it its suited for any occasion- even on sneaker day. I obviously wore it the whole day (how else was I going to fit in my selfie session) and it didn’t once disappear from my lips like most lipsticks are known to do. Mac lipsticks are a must have even the fashion fearful. If you are looking to add a bit of sting to your dull everyday look then this is your brand!!!!
I love this lipstick as it can be worn both professionally and on a night out , it's a fun soft color that puts a smile on my face and it does not make my lips dry as some lipsticks do. High five to this awesome product ????????
This is my go-to red lipstick, it is a bit pricey for a lipstick but the quality is great, just make sure to moisturize and use a good lip balm before applying the lipstick as this is a matte lipstick so it will be very drying. The quality is great because it is long lasting and you only need to apply the lipstick once and it will last a long time
I am a firm believer in everything MATT!!! From lipsticks to nail polish, I am IN LOVE!!! So it should come as no surprise that I LOVE THE MAC Cosmetics Ruby Woo Lipstick. I feel like it is the go-to red lipstick for every black girl and I can safely say I don’t know anyone that doesn’t own this shade.
I can wear it on a normal day at work, drinks with the girls, brunch and on a night out. It is perhaps the most famous lipstick – MAC’s Ruby Woo is EXTRA MATT, EXTRA RED AND IT LASTS ALL NIGHT LONG!!
I bought this lipstick a few months ago and I have to say...not that impressive.
I've always loved MAC lipsticks, but unfortunately their matte lipsticks need to be improved.
I found that during the day the lipstick will settle in the corners of my mouth and I find myself having to blend it out. This gooey substance...NOT FUN.
Anyone using this product, try putting Vaseline on the lips first before applying the lipstick (it helps).
Other than that...GREAT pigmentation! MAC never lets us down on that.
I've tried MAC Rudywoo as I wanted to find out what the fuss was all about. It's a tad bit more expensive than my usual go-to brands but it was worth it. I've never really liked matte lipsticks as it tends to dry my lips out but I've decided to exfoliate my lips thoroughly before applying it and the result was amazing to say the least. I love the vibrancy of the color and the fact that its long lasting as I hate having to re-apply every 5 minutes. I'll definitely invest in it again and have found another color, Sin that totally speaks to me so I'll invest in those 2 ;)
I love Matt Lipstick and its very hard to find a really good Matt that wont later gather and the inner lip or start peeling, i think also because when you wearing a Matt lipstick you need to make sure that you are always prepared and bu that i mean having a really nice scrub for those loose or fine skin on the lips and and nice cream or moisturizer which is what i make sure i do, i usually make and edible scrub and once that lipstick is on it stays! and this one is really amazing and soooo sexy!! esp when u use a Mac lip liner that is a shade darker than the colour with this lipstick is totally worth the buy and so amazing to wear! my all time fav red lipstick!
I love the shade of this lipstick and paired with a lipliner it looks amazing.
Looks great on my skin and very pigmented.
Only thing I can fault it on is after awhile it can dry out your lips, so before application treat your lips to a scrub/exfoliation or moisturise them well.
My ultimate red lipstick that has never disappointed me. I love that I could pretty much eat a 3 course meal and not have my lipstick come off or budge.
It's a dry lippie so I make sure that I exfoliate my lips to remove any flaky bits and then slather on a really hydrating lip balm (such a Elizabeth Arden's lip products). I then blot the excess product off my lips until they almost feel dry and then layer on Ruby Woo. It adds such definition to my lips and make my teeth appear so white.
Works well with my complexion and does not make your teeth look yellow like some reds or bright colours do
Highly pigmented, lasts long and does not dry out your lips like a lot of matte lipsticks do AS LONG as your lips are well treated and conditioned before applying
I eventually wound up at Mavericks for a birthday party one night and saw a young lady with an amazing lipstick on. I chased her down and as I caught up to her, she stared at me rather weirdly while I blurted out,"What lipstick are you wearing?? It's amazing!" She said MAC Ruby Woo and exactly a week after that day, I purchased this magical lipstick.
The colour suits EVERYBODY. I say this because no red lipstick has ever suited my lip shape before. The staying power is fabulous and long lasting and I've received LOADS of compliments. It makes your teeth whiter and your face brighter.
Only downer, it tends to make your lips feel dry after awhile. Exfoliating your lips prior helps a lot and a balm prior the as well. Wonderful product and I highly recommend it.
Nothing makes a statement quite like a red lipstick does.. A matte red lipstick that is :p .. This is the most amazing shade of red that I own.It really brings my face to life.. MAC never disappoints , this is well worth spending on as with all MAC products,I believe. Lasts incredibly long .
We all know thought that for matte lipsticks to look stunning you have got to make sure your lips are in tip top condition so exfoliate before using this.
Red lipstick just has a way of boosting a girls confidence and making her feel SO sexy! I'm not a huge fan of shiny lipsticks, I prefer the matte look.. I fell in love with this MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo, it is super matte, rich in color, & the most divine red! When wearing this lipstick, no dramatic make up is needed, just a simple cat eye will make it look gorg! Because it's so matte, it's a bit of a hassle t get on, so I usually exfoliate my lips first, with a tooth brush - then apply Chapstick - then apply the lipstick.. It stays on for 8 + hours, even if you or drink anything..
MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick is described as Vivid brighty Coral Red and has matte finish . It is one of the cult favorite lipstick and amongst their best selling shades . You might have read N numbers of reviews for this particular shade so no review here, am here to show you how the color looks on me .
Ruby Woo is surprisingly very long lasting shade , it stays without fading and smudging for 6 hrs on my lips but they do feel very dry , I dab a teeny tiny balm on top of that and make sure I exfoliate and moisturize my lips well in advance . As they say you need to have oodles of confidence to wear a RED , with this you should have ample time to make your lips ready to wear THIS RED . On chapped lips or dry lips this particular color will look lifeless.
Ruby Woo is bright red color with warm undertones , if you are looking for cool toned Red go for Russian Red. I didn’t had any hard time using this and am totally bowled over with the beauty of this shade . I will show you some Lip Combinations with this matte Red .
