I must admit I bought this product mainly because of the packaging. It is a gorgeous gloss black tube in the classic MAC lipstick “bullet” shape with a picture of one of my favourite villains of all times Cruella Deville. The lipstick is described as a cherry-red but looks more neutral than blue-based on my complexion. It’s a soft red and is suitable for day time wear as well as evening time. This is my first true red lipstick as I’m usually a pink, berry or nude lipstick kind of girl but I don’t think it will be my last. This lipstick is limited edition but I find that colour-wise it is very similar to MAC Ruby Woo which is part of the permanent line except that Ruby Woo has a matte finish.
This lipstick is also my first amplified crème(AC) lipstick as all my other MAC lipsticks are lustres. In comparison the AC is more pigmented than a lustre and has a satin finish instead of a glossy finish like the lustre. I find the AC less moisturizing than the lustre but it is still creamy and applies smoothly. Once on the lips I find that this lipstick acts like a stain giving around 3 hours of perfect wear. After that it can feel a little dry but a slick of balm or gloss fixes that and the colour is as vibrant as before. I even found that this lipstick survived a meal with most of the colour still there although slightly faded in the centre. I am very impressed with this product. I would probably buy this lipstick again if they re-release it or it becomes part of the permanent line.
