Alphabet creams, like the Avon Ideal Flawless BB cream, the NEW Ideal Flawless CC cream and more recently DD creams, have taken the beauty industry by storm thanks to their skin boosting benefits and multiple uses. Yet with all these options around us, how do we pick the one that’s best suited for our skin type and needs. We debunk the B’s and C’s of beauty to find which one is best for you.
BB Cream:
BB, that’s beauty or blemish balms, originated in Korea and slowly but surely have infiltrated the beauty shelves of many South African women, with brands like Avon releasing their very own. The best way to describe a BB Cream is as a tinted moisturiser with added benefits like an SPF and other anti-ageing elements. They are lighter than a foundation but provide more coverage than a tinted moisturiser. There are countless options on the market but one thing is for sure, they all work to prime, moisturise and conceal the skin. With BB Creams a little goes a long way so be sure to apply a thin layer to the skin and blend in as needed. Seeming as we are sun safe here at Beauty Bulletin we recommend you double up and apply a suitable sun cream to your skin before applying your BB Cream of choice.
CC Creams:
The CC in CC creams stands for colour-correcting and that’s exactly what this wonder product works to do. CC creams, like the NEW Avon Ideal Flawless Colour Correcting cream, are packed with nourishing ingredients like Vitamins C and E. The primary purpose of CC creams is to treat existing colour related concerns like acne, dark spots and pigmentation. They also work wonders in smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles thanks diffusing light particles in the formula that work to reflect light, leaving skin looking smooth and luminous. Like BB creams the CC also contains a SPF, although, once again we recommend you double up by layering over a sun cream. CC creams may give better coverage but they’re light and fluffy formulas mean your skin won’t feel caked in make-up.
The latest addition to the alphabetical cream trend is the dynamic do-all or DD cream. We wonder if Avon will be bringing these out next?
