Getting the full-size Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream has been a roller coaster ride to say the least. My first impressions? Instant radiance and glow for the first three days and a few breakouts.
This cream claims to address the signs of aging and promises that the Beech Tree Extract, Jasmine and Hyaluronic Acids will lift, firm and retexture skin.
The cream is lightweight, very hydrating but not greasy. The first time I applied it to my face I felt it work. On the second day of using the cream, my husband and I noticed that my skin looked brighter and radiant. That was quite a quick reaction and I was very impressed. I wasn't even bothered by the grassy fragrance.
But my rave soon turned to rage (well rage is a bit harsh)
All photos at angle where you can see the problem areas as well as my severe dark circles and pigmentation and freckles.
My skin colour darkened or more likely reddened. It became increasing irritated and broke me out terribly.
I’ve never had such a bad reaction to a moisturizer ever and it’s sad because the cream seemed so promising.
I did try to ride it out for the month but as the days passed my skin looked like hell and I felt like it too. I even got a pimple on my nose; I have never had a pimple on my nose, EVER. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m jealous of the positive results so many BB beauties have seen. Who wouldn’t want to love such a luxurious cream from such a well-established reputable skin care line?
This cream just didn’t work for ME. I’m certain it has been a miracle cream for millions of women the world over, but it didn’t work for me.
But pictures don’t lie and the worst part is scarring. Brown beauties will know that scars turn black on our skin and this is the most difficult thing I have to face.
My late mum got me started on the Clinique three-step programme when I was just 16 years old. I wear sunscreen religiously and have been using eye cream since I was 18 years old. My skin, bar the freckles has never given me problems. Yes, I have dark under eye circles. I have pigmentation around my mouth, which is something dark skinned women often suffer from.
It may sound like a first-world problem and it probably is and some may think it’s a bit dramatic. I don’t, the only thing dramatic are these photographs.
If there is one thing all you beauties have come to expect from me, it’s my brutal honesty and I hope that you take this experience of mine as a true reflection of my experience. But my pity party is over, you know you can’t keep a beauty junkie down ?
I know that there is a miracle cream out there for me . . . and I won’t stop until I find it.
