The new perfume by Givenchy was inspired by the fashions houses Haute Couture. Dahlia Noir meets the criteria of a fragrance crafted like a couture gown, a perfuming garment that swatches the wearer’s body in an olfactory fabric. Like Riccardo Tisci’s couture creations , Dahlia noir resonates with a fragile strength, a flowing together of opposing forces, to better express the tough softness of the woman who wears it.
The Eau De Parfum
R660 30ml
R945 50ml
Dahlia Noir EDP is inspired by an imaginary flower that is a scentless fantasy.
Its powdery notes evoke maternal gentleness and a traditional vision of femininity, generous and protective, conveying a sentimental quality.
Avoiding any trace of nostalgia, this floral chypre fragrance is based on rose, iris and mimosa, enriched with utterly contemporary woody facets.
As in Couture, like olfactory interfacing, sandalwood and patchouli lend a woody depth to the caressing volatility of the powdery weft, blended with tonka bean.
Dahlia Noir calls out to be touched, to become one with the skin.
The Eau De Toilette
R575 30ml
R805 50ml
Dahlia Noir EDT expresses a more luminous, fruitier vision. Still intriguing and mysterious, yet more open, the EDT’s trail instantly releases zesty notes of mandarin, lemon and peach. It reveals a sweet and voluptuous olfactory texture from the outset, like a fruit glistening with morning dew.
A symbol of femininity and romanticism, the rose heart remains, interlaced with woody accents. But this time, it is a rose “petal” and its freshness which are highlighted and combined with the bursting spirit of spicy pink pepper.
Lastly, carnal amber, sweet vanilla and almost mystical sandalwood enshroud the composition with skin-caressing sensuality.
The Bottle
With its spare architectural lines and perfectly balanced proportions, the bottle of both the EDP and EDT are timeless.
Adding to the mystery, the bottle never completely reveals its identity. Like a secret inscription, the name Dahlia Noir is discovered only underneath the cap, nowhere else, engraved on a silver metal plaque.
The Commercial
Like an otherworldly creature, the goddess of a mythical temple, Mariacarla sweeps through smoky transparencies of windswept black chiffon, the exquisite stature of her androgynous body harnessed in leather and silk. A black dahlia blossoms and closes. Metaphors for the fragrance’s trail, long floating veils encircle the dark angel, disseminating her charm, her sombre light. Dahlia Noir enthrals and enraptures the senses.
