GHD eClipse Styler

This is honestly one of the best purchases I have ever made. My hair can become an absolute mess, incredibly frizzy and quite a hassel to deal with. My Ghd styler makes my hair straight and such a pleasure to deal with. My hair stays sleek for more than a day and makes styling a lot more easier.

I love my ghd. I have tried a lot of diffrent straightners and none of them works like my ghd. I have really curley hair that tends to frizz but my ghd sorts that out quik and easy!

SO LOVING THE GHD ECLIPSE!!!

The GHD Eclipse is the newest model from GHD. It is lighter and far more effective than any of the other classic stylers that I have used or come across. The body of the GHD is insulated with Aerogel which prevents the outside of the GHD from getting hot and burning the handler. The Eclipse has six heat sensors that keep the temperature of the plates at the optimum level to effectively style the hair without damaging it. Keeping the temperature and the perfect level also allowed the styling to happen at half the time it would usually take me with my GHD Salon Styler.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Thank you to Beauty Bulleting and Tosca for this amazing experience.

My hair is my crowning glory and I was ecstatic when beauty bulletin sent me the GHD Eclipse review challenge. I made my appointment with the lovely Kelly at Tosca Palmyra Junction salon and felt so at home when I finally got to meet her. Kelly explained the difference between previous GHD stylers and the revolutionary Eclipse, with the new trizone technology the eclipse uses minimum heat and pressure to completely transform your hair whether you have limp, curly or ethic hair.

We decided to curl my hair and create a goddess look using the GHD products, hairdryer and finally the eclipse. I have curly hair so I am quite aware of the damage heat can and has caused my hair so naturally I was very apprehensive about the fact that the temperature of the Eclipse being so “low”. Kelly explained that the new GHD eclipse heats up within 20 secs and has automated heat settings for your hair type...

We started the process of washing my hair and applying heat protector before roughly blow drying my hair using GHD’s paddle brush (Love the brush), once my hair was dry Kelly sectioned and started curly my hair... every so often showing me how to do a pin curl (a must try!).

It wasn’t necessary to apply pressure to my hair, which amazed me as my hair has been abused before to achieve the same results. It slide through my hair like a hot knife through butter without hurting my scalp or damaging my tresses.

Be a “Stylemaker, Rule Breaker and a game changer”, with the new GHD eclipse you cannot go wrong. 10/10 :D

Brilliant product

My hair is not of the garden-variety, although it certainly could resemble something in the garden. Like a bush… a thick one. You know the one in the garden that you can never quite get under control. So you can imagine how long I have wished for things to be different. I used to wish upon a star for straighter, less curly, less frizzy, less unruly hair. Now I wish for an ‘Eclipse.’

Since acquiring a ‘standard’ ghd four years ago I have been one of its biggest fans. In fact, my ghd is the one thing I can’t live without. That may sound clichéd, but I think I may just fall apart if it ever gets broken or stolen. When I travel, I carry it in my hand luggage, keeping it in sight to make sure nothing ever happens to my precious! So naturally when I was invited to review the new ghd Eclipse I thought that there really was no way of improving on the already superb hair-styling experience that the standard ghd offers.

But, like my hair, I was so, so wrong…

The word ‘eclipse’ means to make something disappear and that is definitely what this nifty little hair-saving machine does with ‘hair gone wrong’. And it does it in style. After my salon experience using the Eclipse, there is no doubt in my mind that it is every bit as good as one of the world’s greatest magicians.

It amazed me how effortlessly this gem of a machine was able to quell both the rebellion of my hair, and eliminate the laborious aspects of styling it. POOF! Just like magic. I figured that this must have something to do with the revolutionary technology that it possesses. A part of its functioning explained perfectly on the ghd website - www.ghdhair.com/articles/gamechanger.

What I valued most was the way the Eclipse could style larger sections of hair, because of its intelligent sensors, whilst still managing to tame my unruly locks to perfection. This is something really important for a mom like me, with two small children, and hair as wild as mine, with very little time to tame it! But running a close second was the pain-free experience thanks to the aerogel insulation. The Eclipse’s outer shell looks hot, but it won’t burn you. And the ultimate compliment from a friend of mine after my trip to the salon – “your hair looks like it’s naturally straight” – speaks volumes about the Eclipse’s ability to transform any head of hair.

So would I consider spending my hard-earned money on the Eclipse? I think the answer is obvious… I’m head over heels for it. “There’s nothing I can say but total Eclipse of the heart”!

So after receiving the challenge via email, i decided to seperate all the other goodies in my Handbag from my Makeup Items. Attached, in the picture, i have everything i need to get me thru one day where makeup is concerned. Firstly, some Colourful eyeshadow Palette, for everyday radiance, my Ponds BB cream, I go nowhere without it. Oil blocking powder for those daily T-Zone happenings called- shine on`s!!

Also I dont think my makeup routing would be complete without a day cream- mine contains SPF- African Extracts Rooibos day cream. Then i have all my AVON goodies in there too, which is my perfume rollette, my mascara, some lipsticks (for those surprising client pop-in`s at the office)..and fcoz who can forget their Rimmel eyeliner, CANT GO WITHOUT EYE-LINER ladies.. and basically to round everything off, my eyelash curler, whalaah!

Well firstly I had my hair done by Tosca Hair Salon at Palmyra Junction in Claremont, Cape Town.

They firstly washed my hair and gave me a head massage and oh my word was that now "AMAZING"!!
My hair was done by Kelli who is a very funky hairdresser and gave me loads of info on this new GHD thats been launched,
she explained what we were going to do and then we were set to go!
She used all the GHD products on my hair which smells DIVINE!! then blow dried my hair and then we were off to the actual straightening with this new gadget! I went for straight as I prefer that to flicks, but kelli explained that this little tool can do all, curls, flicks, straight etc... that that you can dream of it'll do LOL

Now let me tell you some technical stuff about this new straightener:

The new GHD Eclipse is the latest of its kind and technology wise for sure! I personally believe it is their BEST make and discovery YET!
What makes this GHD unique is the fact that it has the following features:

- Aerogel insulation to the shell, so the outside of the straightener
does not get hot like all others do! Its cool to the touch even after
45 minutes of use, So NO MORE burning of foreheads and fingers
ladies!! Whoop whoop... :)

- It has 6 sensors in it which allows the temperature to remain the same all the time (this they call thermal control)
at an optimal 185 degrees C which is the recommended temperature for perfect straighteningand wont damage your hair!

Anything above that temperature is burning the HAIR LADIES!! YES, its true
and its also damage that is irreversible they say.. EINA!! :(

-It tames the toughest of textures of hair which is awesome! From rebellious to curly to afro hair!
The GHD eclipse will tame it down :)

- It has an automatic switch OFF when its been on for too long!! This is my
personal favourite!! Have you ever run out the house, late for work and get
to your desk and realise "OOPS!! I think I left my straightener on?" WELL now
you needn't be worried anymore...it will switch itself off after a while.

- It has something built in the plates (don't ask me what?)which locks the hairs natural moisture into the
hair shaft and therefore creates extreme shine on the hair... THIS IS SO TRUE!! I haven't
had my hair shine like that EVER I don't think. I have extremely dry hair so THIS
was truly a GREAT feauture for me :) You will see on my photos of the type of
shine I am talking about... TALK ABOUT BLING HAIR LADIES... and the feel is just
absolutely amazing, so soft and silky!!

Well need i say more? Go and get yourself one TODAY! It really is worth it!

This new GHD styler has the gutts to take any hair texture especially unrully hair to the next level! ;-) Curly and Afro hair types which are usually difficult to manage can now become manageble. For me personally, the power lies in the GHD styler, which delivers much more heat than my previous styler, in less the amount of time - meaning the results are faster and Soooo much better!! i love the way my hair turned out!!

Since my hair is not that long, the stylist was able to use thickish sections and style it faster, due to the effectiveness of the heat of the styler, which meant i was in and out, in less than an hour!! Result: Quick styling - music to my ears- good music!!

The only negatives for me, was the price, with a pricetag of R2899.00 (www.ghd.com) its going to take some saving before this baby becomes mine!:-( Also, this GHD seems a little bit chubbier than the older one, which to me with my smaller hands, would mean i need to use it personally a few times, before getting used to how to hold it, for ultimate styling results.. Other than that i loved it!! I definitely see myself getting one in the near future, even if it means budgeting carefully for it!! Pics to follow!! ;-)

One last thing - this styles not only straightens hairs but can also be used to curl hair, which makes it an excellent investment!!

I got my first GHD while living in London, in 1999, so its rather old, yet oh so very reliable. I haven't needed to replace or service it for the past 14years that I had it, its been my best friend ever since. Literally come rain or shine! So to me, its been beyond value for money!

Being GHD & anything GHD related obsessed, I must say, I was ecstatic to discover that I had been given the opportunity to review the GHD ECLIPSE! so ecstatic, I plastered the news just about everywhere... GHD ECLIPSE, HERE I COME!
I couldn't wait for that Saturday morning to arrive, so I could get my palms on this new GHD ECLIPSE. I saw the images & read up all about its tri-zone technology & aerogel insulation... BUT nothing could hold back my over size grin when I actually held it. not only did it look sexy, the led light, the coolness to the touch... I NEEDED this GHD ECLIPSE!!!
I usually have a 7 to 8 step routine when it comes to my hair. Being curly & unruly, I usually only was it every 2nd to third day, mostly because it takes up soo much time. My baby is also 11 months old, so to say there is no time is NOT an exaggeration. back to the topic... I mask my hair the night before the morning of the hair wash session, then its a shampoo X2, a conditioner, a towel dry, a leave in conditioner, a GHD thermal protect spray, a blow dry to the sleekest I can get it, then a proper 6 stokes per section with my GHD, then another slight spray with the step 4 GHD finishing spray. Not only is my hair HIGH MAINTENANCE, its very time consuming & exhausting. I use to have to do the Brazilian for in between maintenance, but since my pregnancy I was instructed not to.

My appointment was at Tosca hair salon in Palmyra Junction. I have never been before& I cant remember the last time I could afford a salon treatment.
I went there with 2 day old unwashed hair, though it had been GHD those 2 days before. I was convinced that no one could get my hair looking as sleek & shinny as my ritual does. Kelli was the stylist appointed to my unruly bush.

The salon itself is small, yet the staff are most welcoming & friendly. Kelly got an assistant to take me to the basin & immediately I got these major butterflies in my tummy. "OMH, here goes everything" is what I thought to myself. "im going to sit in this salon for the next 3 hours while they all attempt to tame this bush", "what if I run way into their lunch times & no one gets to eat"... these were all frantic thoughts I was thinking... but my soul kept telling me, your hair is here to experience the absolute brilliance of the GHD ECLIPSE... & even if all hope fails for the stylist, the ECLIPSE will save the day, as GHD always had been to my hair for the past 14 years. Im only a 32 years old now, but sometime my hair makes me feel 52.. course on days, dull on others... but there is never a time (should I have the time) that GHD can not solve the problem.

After the basin I sat in the Kelli's chair, while she explained what shes about to do. I couldn't wait to see the GHD ECLIPSE & almost rudely interrupted her & said "please wont you show it to me". we both laughed as she could see my absolute excitement in meeting the ECLIPSE.

OMG!!! excuse for a lack of better terminology!! How absolutely stunning! not only is is all black & sexy, it has a light a halo, a glow! I was so envious that there are people out there that own this awesome looking sexy gadget & I would probably have to save the next year to get my paws on one of these sexy GHD ECLIPSE's. Knowing exactly how long my previous one lasted, I would most definitely say, that any GHD is worth its last penny! I never asked the price, as I never had an expression worthy of either the shock or the surprise that the ECLIPSE commanded. So I never asked & off we got started.

Kelli first hair dried my hair with the GHD hair drier...
I could immediately see a dramatic difference, although bushy was an understatement, my hair was so shinny. We took some pictures & videos throughout, as I had to go back & show my sister the evidence of the ECLIPSE power!

She then continued to section my air blown dry hair & start using the ECLIPSE to form these spiral loops that the pinned to my hair, section at a time. I thought iw as going to be sitting there for hours, as this is the part that I didn't understand. I usually have to blow dry my hair not only 100 % dry, but also 100% straight & smooth & here Kelli was only drying my hair, but leaving it unruly, most bush & high unattractive. So I wasn't convinced. until she had finished all the sections & let the down one piece at a time. a couple of strokes with the ECLIPSE is all it took, as appose to my 7 strokes per tiny section that I was use to.. LOL!

I WAS AMAZED!! no, I was DUMB FOUNDED! My hair looked soo good. No other treatments had been used, besides the GHD thermal spray, as you do naturally & always, but I was most amazed. not only did the ECLIPSE do it in record time, it did it BRILLIANTLY. so smooth, so shinny, so sexy. I LOVE THE ECLIPSE. ECLIPSE made my hair me feel like a million dollars!! Besides Kelli controlling the styler. LOL not only was I sad to leave the salon, I was sad that in a few days I would have to revert back to my endless hours behind the mirror with the ever frustrating routine. but since I know there is now new hope thanks to ECLIPSE, I am not that depressed that there aint a solution. I just have to be dedicated & spare the pennies. One day too I shall be a proud owner of the ECLIPSE by GHD!

ps - I didn't have to wash my hair for a week after. I know that could gross out a few people, but I just simple loved what each hair day looked like, I loved the curls slowly dropping day by day & to be honest, I didn't think I could ever get my hair that shinny again. if I would have recorded all the comments & compliments I got in that week, I would be writing till next week, & that's the god honest truth.

I know GHD ECLIPSE has been on the market for a short while, but the girls I had spoken to about the ECLIPSE doesn't really know of its existence.. I told them all about the little fabulous Tosca hair salon I have discovered through the beauty bulletin!

I was met at the Partners Canal Walk reception by the lovely and vivacious, blue-haired proprietor who assured me that I would be seen to shortly and had me take a seat and kept me company while I waited.

My hair was washed in the distinct "Partners style" – that divine massage and deep cleansing. Next I met Liz, the stylist who first blow-dryed my hair and then proceeded to do the curls effect with the GHD.

I had not seen the new GHD Eclipse before going to the salon. And oh what a sight!! The new GHD Eclipse is BEAUTIFUL! Sleek, black and oh so sexy. The overall styling tool is now shining black replacing the matte black colour it previously was and the plates are black as well replacing the beige colour it used to be. A super cool sci fi blue halogen light replaces the blinking red light of fore. The stylist and I oohed and aahed over the beauty of the new GHD Eclipse for a good while before she actually started on my hair. I couldn't stop saying "it's so beautiful!".

And it's more than just a pretty sight...! I was so happy and impressed by how well the curls turned out!! My hair looked healthy, shiny and all-round fantastic. While doing the curls there was no tugging or burning or any sort of discomfort at all. My hair just glided into the GHD and perfect curls were the result.

When Liz was done she sprayed some GHD Final Fix Hairspray onto the curls and this made the curl stay in ALL DAY LONG! Wow! Usually when I attempt curls it falls out within the hour but this GHD Final Fix Hairspray reall did a more than amazing job at keeping my curls intact :-D.

I walked out of that salon feeling like a new woman. And walking in Canal Walk I got a few appreciative looks and some women asked me where I'd had my hair done and I didn't hesitate to tell them about the new GHD Eclipse and recommend it very highly.

I had my Eclipse treatment at Clearwater Gary & Rom salon on Friday the 17th of may . I was greeted by Daleen & Sonika did my hair. It was turned from Frizzy Lizzy to Smooth as Ice. I am normaly afraid of straighteners they seem to be too hot to handle (sizzle like a hot skillet from Spur), Sonika showed me that it was easy to do & showed me how to create volume by just doing the underside of my roots with the Eclipse.

I had my review yesterday and it was sheer bliss. Today everybody at work is asking me why I look so different and beautifull...im feeling amazing. I took my husband with me to be my photographer, but when it all started he was nowhere to be found...lol, but we had to proceed. I went to partners hair design in somerset mall and I was assisted by Chirleen. I was 30 minutes late for my appointment with her , but she was very understanding and helped me regardless. I had a wonderfull wash, scalp massage, then my hair was blow dried...she did not burn my scalp once! Then she proceeded to flat iron my hair with the GHD ECLIPSE, all the while explaining to me how it works. My hair looks and feels so thin, soft and straight, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. An amazing product to have for busy mums and working ladies

I was one of the lucky ladies who got to review the new GHD Eclipse, this truly was an amazing experience!

When I got to Tosca hair in Durbanville I was greeted by the friendly staff and we began immediately! I was a bit worried I must admit, with my thick, dry frizzy unruly hair nothing usually helps, well let me tell you, the end results was so surprising, in a good way :-)

She started explaining everything about the new GHD Eclipse and I found it very interesting because I had never used a GHD before, I still struggle with my plain straighter I received 6 years ago on my birthday! The GHD Eclipse is so stylish and elegant and so easy to use, it basically heats up in a matter of seconds then lets you know with a beep that its ready to use!

She straighten my hair like I’ve never seen it before, one stroke and its straight, my hair looked normal, alive and much more healthier, I could not believe my eyes, there's no frizz at all left, so she explained that the GHD takes out all the unnecessary moisture in your hair so that when you’re in humid/moist weather it won’t frizz because then it takes up the moist the GHD took out and basically even out without frizzing or curling!

The New GHD Eclipse also comes with its heat resistant mat so you can put it on there while busy and it won’t burn, this is so nice for us who using it at home and always have to put it on something.

This is truly the most amazing GHD I’ve ever seen and used, it’s highly recommendable, it has done wonders for my hair, it will for you too no matter what your bad hair day looks like, with this GHD you will never and I mean never have another bad hair day again!

I would like to say thank you to the Beauty Bulletin for giving me the opportunity to experience the beautiful Ghd eclipse. I would like to extend a warm thanks to Delene and her wonderful team at the Gary Rom hair salon in Clearwater which I would recommend to anyone who is looking for the royal treatment that they gave me. They were so sweet in every way by showing me all the Ghd product that are on the market and they told me to always use the heat protector when using a Ghd iron or any iron cause it protects your hair from heat damage. I decide to go for the curls cause I always have my hair straight and while they were doing the curls they showed me all the easy technics to create this wonderful look that they did with the Ghd eclipse. Ghd has always out did themselves with all of their ghd styling irons but there are no words to describe how amazing the new Ghd eclipse, is not only is it the most beautiful style iron but it’s the most good looking styling Iron I ever seen, its elegant in many ways. I could describe the Ghd eclipse in many ways but my best description would be by far the (Bugatti Veyron) car not only is it a magnificent piece of machinery in speed and elegance but it is the most powerful and fasters car in the world and by say so that is what I take the Ghd eclipse to be it’s every women’s dream to have in a life time. Ghd never fail to impress on such a fantastic product they really out did themselves in many ways. The eclipse will take the world by storm for its perfection and amazing ability to create master pieces all the time. I am so happy I could take part in this wonderful experience and by my photo they speak for themselves.

GHD just never ever lets you down, I have not tried this new edition but I have tried the GHD gold and it is fantastic. Honestly, if you use your heat protect spray each time you use any heat on your hair, it will not dry out and will not leave your hair looking brittle. The GHD instils so much confidence in us as woman when we use it, we feel like superstars with gorgeous hair.

I had the most amazing time going to Tosca Hair Salon in Tygervalley Shopping Centre. Was greeted by a friendly receptionist, met with Davrelyne, the hairdresser. She sat down with me and had a chat of what i wanted do do with my hair. She was so lovely and understanding and knew exactly what i wanted as an end result. Had a seat at the basin and the lady who washed my hair gave me this wonderful head and neck massage. After making me feel so relaxed it was back to Davrelyne who started working her magic. She blowdried my hair with a thick brush first, put some GHD treatment on my hair and proceeded to work her miracle on my hair. She showed me step by step how easy it is to use the GHD Eclipse and get the Hair Salon look. It was amazing. In no time she had transformed my hair from "Out of control" to sleek and beautiful. My hair was straight, shiny, and still had body. Unlike other hairstraightners i have used, this did not burn my scalp or my hair, no damage at all. This product is a must have for every woman who has the same problem as I have. A good investment. Definately worth buying.

The ghd Eclipse is an amazing styling tool. My hair is normally difficult and unruly and in no time at all David at Tosca, Tableview managed to tame it immediately by using the ghd products, hairdryer and Eclipse. I cannot believe the transformation that I experienced today and I have bought a couple of the products to start off with. I hope I will be able to one day have the new Eclipse as my 'best friend'!

Many brands try and copy, but there is nothing compared to GHD.
