The BB Challenge: Five days to wear five celebrity braids!
One of Game of Thrones’ greatest attractions is in fact Queen Khaleesi’s hair. Kudos to her stylist, whose braided masterpieces featured in every episode this season and has inspiring international designers (think Donna Karen, Armani, Mara Hoffman and Jeremy Scott) to feature braids in a big way in their latest shows.
Braids are also big news on the red carpet, with Chrissy Teigen, Lupita Nyongo, Emily Woods and even Jared Leto spotted sporting them recently.
We jumped on the proverbial bandwagon and test-drove some of these pretty plaits for you. Here’s the lowdown on how to get the looks…
FIVE DAYS, FIVE BRAIDS
Monday: The festival braid (Also known as ‘pigtails for grownups’)
– Separate the hair on either side of the neck, plait and secure with a hair tie.
– Curl each braid in on itself, creating a bun and secure with bobby pins.

– Pull hair to the side of the nape of the neck

Thursday: Braided crown
The sleek and sophisticated look is deceptively easy.
– Split hair into two pigtails at the nape of the neck, braid each section and secure with a hair tie.
– Pull each section up and around the head and secure with two bobby pins in an “X” formation.
Red Carpet Inspiration: Jennifer Lawrence at the Critics Choice Awards.
Friday: The Khaleesi
A piece de resistance to mark the end of our intense week of braiding…
– Take two small sections of hair on either side of the head near the temple, braid each strand individually and then merge into a single braid at the back of the head.
– Follow the same process with the remaining hair below each ear, allowing the braid to come together in a single braid at the base of the skull.
