Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil

I have this pencil in a brown colour. I can't remember the exact name, but I think it was something like "hot chocolate".

I'm a huge fan of Essence products, but I didn't like this liner.

It leaves a really thick clumpy look and also crumbles as you use it.

Further it smudges relatively easy and the whole product to me was just messy.

I will not purchase this product again.

The majority of my eye liners are Essence. I also use their lipliners. I love eye liners in blue and green hues and picked up this eyeliner in 17 Tu-Tu-Touquoise. I love that this eyeliner comes in a retractable form. The texture is smooth and easy to apply. The colour pay off is great and shimmery. I love me some shimmer. It does last for some time. I however use this liner on my lower lashline, liners do fade on my lower lashline so I carry the pencil with me for touchups.

This is by far the best beauty item I have ever purchased. Eyeliner is my staple beauty item; I wear it every single day and would probably die without it! I therefore need an eye pencil that is of good quality and can last all day without smudging. Needless to say, I've tried enough eye pencils (within my means, of course) to know that I've come across a gem. The Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil is retails at about R25 with a quality that is surely worth much more than this price. It has a very smooth finish that is just soft enough to be applied easily without smudging like other cheaper liners usually do. I apply my liner to my top lid (as you would with liquid liner) rather than my lower lash line. Because of the intense pigmentation and the smooth finish, it looks just like liquid liner but is far easier to use. It applies well over eye shadow too, which is probably why I will never use a liquid liner. On top of all this, it is fine enough to make a cat eye, which is something I love to do for a night out. My go-to shades are Hot Chocolate, a brown liner I use for day wear, and Black Fever, a black liner I use for a more dramatic look, usually at night. These two shades sell out the fastest, so it is best to pounce on them when Clicks or Dischem get new stock.

More than anything else, however, this pencil is long lasting, living up to its name. It remains intact throughout the day, even if I fall asleep! This pencil is just too perfect and so I usually keep some spares in my makeup bag in case I run out.

Surprise, surprise...here am I, doing another Essence review ;-). I have bought the Essence Long-lasting Eye Pencil in the shade I have a Green (12).

Here are my thoughts:

1) For the first time I have come across an Essence shade that does not match the colour indicated on the outside of the product. If one looks at the outside of this pencil, it is dark olive green, but the actual colour is more of a bright sea green. Still a beautiful colour, but not what I had in mind initially.
2) The colour glides on effortlessly and is nice to layer, almost filling it in like an eye shadow. I outlined both my upper and lower lids and to make it pop, one can add a layer of black over the upper lid.
3) It lasted for about 5 hours in Durban's hot humid weather which is quite amazing. It did start to fade after 2 hours, but after 5 hours, 70% was still in tact.
4) The price rocks @ R19.99. I would definitely try other shades as well.
5) Yes, my old old story...yay for Essence not testing their products on animals.

FINAL VERDICT: Although it may not be as effective as more expensive products, I love the colour and at the price, it is efficient enough to make it worth a try, especially in darker shades. LOVE Essence and their variety!

Love these pencils!! I have it in dark brown and khaki. The application is smooth and long-lasting. And the pencil is retractable - no sharpening! Yeah! The price is brilliant. I will never again pay a fortune for an eye pencil. Highly recommended.

I have been using the Black Long Lasting Eye pencil from Essence since about December 2011. Being a performer I am VERY fussy when it comes to my make up, and when I at first saw the incredibly low price for these, I honestly did not expect great results.. Wow, how surprised I was!!! I love everything about it, colour intensity in perfect and the price is SO affordable!! Would recommend anyone to try this out. It's SO worth it!!

This is my favourite of all the Essence eye pencils. I have this product in “06 Seventh Heaven” which is a sparkly turquoise colour and “02 Hot Chocolate” which is a matte dark brown colour. The eye pencil is retractable and requires no sharpening. The texture is creamy and smooth and the colours are opaque and very intense. Once applied you have a few seconds to smudge it if you want but after that it sets. The set eye pencil lines will not smudge or smear and are waterproof. I’ve worn this product while swimming and it stayed on well looking perfectly applied even on the waterline. It’s easy to remove with makeup remover or face wash. I highly recommend this product and I will be purchasing more colours soon.
