Finally tried this after all the hype surrounding it . It does keep make up in place although it does sting my skin quite a bit ..and what’s up with the spray nozzle ! When you spray, too much comes out and it comes out rather violently, for lack of a better word, and it’s localized to just one spot on the face which means you have to spray on quite a bit ..Essence really need to fix this ,pun intended ! ..this is a huge deal breaker for me ,I’ll recommend it for the fact that it does a decent job at setting make up ..it’s affordable but you are going to get through it rather fast because of its disfunctional spray nozzle , I mean when you spray it has to spray all over the face not just one spot .. reminds me of a squirt gun lol .. sorry Essence , epic fail here !
The spray is affordable, it has a long lasting finish. The spray work wonders, it is travel friendly. The spray works wonders with the eye-shadow as I wet my brush with it when applying an eye shadow
I always enjoy looking at essence products as I feel they are on of the most fun and creative brands on the market. They always have a new and different product. However given their price their products can be a hit or miss situation.
When buying this product I was keen to see if it would be a hit or a miss and I can gladly confirm it is a hit. I was really surprised by this product. It had a nice nozzle and spread out effectively. It kept my makeup on place and has no scent of skin irritant.
I don't use this as a fixing spray as I am not sure about them in general. But I must add that I use this to make my eye shadows more intense and it works wonders. All you do is spray a little on you brush and you will see how much product it picks up. Best with glitters or any other intense make up look!
I have severly sensitive skin but I am addicted to setting sprays so I tried this one from Essence. It is a light spray with a fine mist that really does make a difference as far as I can tell. Only thing though, it stings sometimes. I suppose some days my skin is just more sensitive than usual and doesn't approve of my choices.
So I moved it to my tools bag and now exclusively use it to wet my brushes and shadows for intense and longer lasting applications and it works really well. Also, I don't feel bad about using too much of it as it is so affordable. Will I repurchase? Probably not. But only because of the stinging issue.
I love the essence make up fixing spray it is long-lasting finish effect and fragrance free leaving my make up look moisturized and smooth with a refreshed feeling with a natural glow i love it !
Mix Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and MAC Fix+ and you get this product as a result.
First of all, the packaging is not awesome but I love that essence kept it subtle. You can see how much product is left, plus the purple colour gets me every time (I love purple).
I also love that essence knows what a fixing spray actually is (it's supposed to lock your makeup to prevent it from melting, cracking etc., have a look at Reddit, a user posted a useful guideline for fixing and setting sprays).
The spray head does not dispense the product very fine like the Urban Decay Setting Sprays. It does dispense like MAC Fix+.
This fixing spray moisturizes and locks your makeup. It doesn't have any scent. I feel refreshed whenever I applied it.
As for the effect, it keeps my makeup better in place than without it. It does a good job and my makeup looks less cakey than before. It adds a subtle glow which is nice when I want that. Oil still comes through but this happens every time on my T-zone.
If you can't decide between essence and Urban Decay:
All Nighter Setting Spray has a very fine mist which spreads the product evenly.
Keep It Perfect! gives you a rough mist which can lead to some drops on your face. The product needs more time to dry and set the makeup.
UD is more expensive but you get more product and the fine mist won't waste as much product as the essence spray.
essence gives you less product which will be empty within weeks if you use it every day but you have to pay less for it.
essence gives you some moisture, which will remind you of MAC Fix+, yet it will lock your makeup for a few more hours.
Urban Decay just locks your makeup without adding any moisture but that is key to keep your makeup looking fresh for a longer time.
If you're on a budget, try essence. If you have the money, you can decide which product suits your expectations better.
My verdict:
I still prefer my UD spray since I feel it does a better job. It locks my makeup and it makes it look less cakey without the need of moisture.
essence gives you a few more hours if you use it after your makeup is done but UD tops this with even more hours.
Guys I got to try out the Essence Keep It Perfect Make Up Fixing Spray It has a refreshing effect, won’t weigh down the skin and is fragrance-free. It's amazing, I spray alittle before applying my foundation and again when I'm done applying my foundation and it is the bomb...,love it...
This is by far the best drugstore setting spray I've used. It does the job perfectly and it's extremely cheap for the amount you get. It adds a natural glow to the face and holds my makeup the whole day. It's a must have it you love a dewy look. However, if you are looking for a matte finish I would not recommend this product.
I used a different, more heavy duty fixing spray before this, and the smell made me nauseous. It literally felt like I was being sprayed with hairspray!
I love that this has no smell whatsoever and doesn't seem to make my skin burn. Very fine mist that dries relatively fast as well. I use about 3-4 pumps for good measure and it definitely feels like my makeup doesn't budge. Super happy that I gave this a try.
First of all I love the small see through bottle cause it fits snug into my travel makeup bag! Something else i have to mention is that it sprays a fine even mist from the first to the last drop in the bottle. Unlike other I have used that tend to start spraying bigger droplets as it gets to the end which then have the same effect on your makeup as a normal drop of water would UGgggggg!
It got a very soft neutral smell which doesn't irritate even if you accidentally inhale when you spray. No hairspray-cough-your-lung-up-effect!
I absolutely love this product! I was disappointed at the small bottle especially for the price (Dischem now sells it at R64) but a little sure do goes a long way! It leaves the smooth, shine free and pore fee.
I would recommend this to anyone starting out in makeup who is looking for a cheap but effective fixing spray.
I know that a setting spray sets your makeup and locks it in place and a finishing spray blends everything together and provides a beautiful finish. I am assuming that a fixing spray is somewhere in the middle.
This is the impression that I got after using this product. It is incredibly light weight and the spray is very fine. It does not leave your skin feeling sticky or dry or over hydrated.
I think it has a perfect balance between setting and finishing your makeup. I would say it last about 6 hours on oily skin, but could very well last 8-10 hours on dryer skin.
I like it and will continue to use it. I can recommend it to anyone who prefers something that is not as heavy duty and that does not feel like an extra layer on your skin.
I am addicted to makeup setting sprays - there is nothing worse than spending ages doing your makeup perfectly, only to have it wear off a few hours later.
While I love the higher end ones such as MAC or Urban Decay, this is a great one for those people that can't justify the money that the others cost.
It settles powders and really does make my makeup last that much longer.
