I absolutely adore all Essence products- they are exquisitely packaged, cute, fun and super affordable! I wanted to try some gel eyeliner and as I’m not accustomed to using one I opted to buy a cheaper brand version. This led me to purchasing the Essence Gel eyeliner in midnight in Paris (black, for all us normal folk).
This 3g product retails for R39.99 and lasts for ages. Its very neatly packed and looks absolutely posh and elegant. The bottle is a little round glass tub with a black twist-off lid. The lid has silver writing on it with little coloured and outlined squares. The look is very funky and alluring. No applicator is included but this isn’t a problem as one can easily be purchased. The gel is smooth and looks glistening when the lid is opened. As you can see, my gel looks macerated and hacked to death, this is only cause its quiet soft and needs the gentlest of touch (which clearly I do not possess).
The gel is waterproof and dries really quickly. Due to these 2 important qualities, I’ve used it to create cat-lined eyes too ? that’s definitely multi-use for your money. The gel lasts for ages and goes on smoothly without clumping or rubbing all over the place. In the time it takes to get more gel onto your applicator the one applied is already dried.
Eyeliner gel offers the best of both worlds. They are better than liquid liners as they don’t dry as fast and can be smudged like a pencil. It is most effective when used between your eyelash roots and the actual lashes. A good eyeliner brush is needed so that the best results can be achieved, lines need to be clean and precise.
It’s a very intense highly pigmented black that does not fade during its use. It lasts forever on eyes without smudging or flaking off. It doesn’t gel oily or “leak” like your normal pencil liners. I often use Kajal, this gel is somewhat similar to this and is applied in the same way. It does offer better colour and longevity than Kajal and has so now become a staple to my make-up case.
This is by far the best gel eyeliner i have ever used. I have tried the maybeline eye studio gel eyeliner, the Bobbi brown one and the MAC blacktrack fluid line and i always come back to this one. LOVE IT!!!!!!
This is one of the best products from Essence. It's affordable and long lasting. It gives a smooth creamy colour which last very long on eyes. I love the fact that this eyeliner is so cheap yet it works better than the more expensive ones.
I was really unsure of buying a gel eyeliner because the previous one I bought was a real let down but after buying Essence Gel Eyeliner, it changed my mind completely!
It is A-MA-ZIIINNGGG! And totes affordable, which I really LOVE! Its quick drying, smudge and waterproof! I have itchy and teary eyes (and yet I still insist on wearing thick eye liner :..)so the smudge and waterproof really works out well for me.
It works extremely good for lining your waterline AND lining the top of your upper lash line. When I use Kajal eye pencils or normal eye pencils, they always tend to smudge and makes me look like a raccoon (no offence to any raccoons out there) but Essence Gel Eyeliner is smudgeproof and long lasting. I'm always busy so I don't have time to re-apply or touch up during the day.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone, especially students mainly because its long lasting, so no re-applying in the campus bathroom every few hours and its really affordable!
It comes in two beautifully intense colours:
Black - 01 Midnight in Paris
Silver - 05 Miami's Ink
This was one of the first gel eyeliners I purchased! for the price, it was worth it, it didn't smudge at all, and stayed for hours, however I felt that the Essence eyeliner brush really didn't give me the look I wanted. It gave me a thick eyeliner which looked like I had slept and woken up with eyeliner. However the actual product is amazing and I would advise anyone and everyone to try it.
I can't say enough good things about this product! I am obsessed with eyeliner and do a dramatic cat-eye pretty much every day. I was hesitant to try out a gel liner though. But on a whim I bought this and an UBU eyeliner brush from Clicks (grand total of around R50) and have never looked back! I love this eyeliner so much, the colour is super intense and remains that way all day without a hint of smudging.
OH MY GOD!!! talk about a product that EVERY SINGLE PERSON NEEDS to have in their makeup bag!!! It is an excellent gel eyeliner which is so easy to apply. it stays on for hours and doesnt budge when water touches it. really agree that every single lady should haev this. the price is also really cheap which makes it so worth it!!
Special occasions require special eye make-up products like the Gel Eyeliner from Essence! It's ultra-smooth gel formula allows an accurate application similar to liquid eyeliner. The range offers various effects, such as matte or shimmering.
What I Love:
So highly pigmented, they really have amazing colour payoff!
Goes on smoothly, and is so easy to apply.
Waterproof.
Long lasting - they will last through tears and sweat!
The packaging is great! They come in glass tubs, and are sleek and stylish.
Cheap, cheap, cheap!!
What I Don't
My biggest complaint with this gel liner is that it tends to dry out long before I come close to finishing it.
When applying there is hardly any room for error. If you go over your lash line to many times to define your stroke the products ends up cracking on your lid.
Difficult to Remove. ( Make-up Remover is a MUST)
Again a fantastic product from Essence! This liner is super creamy, silky, very dark and doesn't smudge one bit. This color is just plain deep black with no shimmer. It applies as a very thin line of intense color. I have never tried MAC Fluidline of Bobbi Brown gel liner (which are both reputable for their quality) but I honestly don't know how the Essence liner could be any better than it is. I am not sure how quickly it might dry out but right now it is super moist in the pot. Great product! Really recommend it! and the price is unbeatable!
