Formula: I have very oily eyelids & am wary of eyeliners that cannot stand up to this by the end of the day. When I only use this liner without any eyeshadow, it smears just a little bit by the end of the day. It isn't enough to destroy the liner, so it passes. When I use eyeshadow, the liner does not budge, so I was very impressed. My one problem/concern is that the formula can get a little sticky. I noticed this when I first starting using it as my eyelids would feel a little sticky when I blinked, but then this stopped happening. It's possible that I just got used to the formula or that something is up when you first break open a new pen. But it wasn't too bothersome. I tested this on my wrist & took a shower the following day. It barely budged.
Applicator: The thin line end is a really long applicator! I accidentally made a perfect wing when I first used this. I think it was a combination of the length of the applicator & the pen itself since it's double-sided. I was impressed. Since then, I have been able to purposely do a nice mini wing with the thin end. The thick end is ok...it skips & drags across my lid, so I would only use it for the end of my wing or something. Not the end of the world given the price. I felt like I had a lot of control regardless of which end I was using. And the product does not feel like I am using a marker on my face like similar drug store products do (for example, Almay Pen Eyeliner 210 Navy ). I think the applicator felt tip might be a little rough on my eyelids as I notice a little soreness on my lids from where I normally line.
Value: I think is product is definitely worth the price. It isn't perfect, but it does better than a lot of other liners in its range & works as a daily eyeliner.
The price point of this product is great and the product isn't bad either. The only problem I have is that it dries up so so quickly, I haven't had for even a few months before it started drying up on me. So annoying because the tip is the first thing that dries up, making it extremely hard to get that perfect wing. Not worth the money.
Great price and so easy to apply. I love that you can choose whether you want a thicker more dramatic line, or a thin clean line.
Set it with a setting spray and this works well for even fake tattoos if that's your thing.
Best thing ever!!!
This is one of the best eyeliners I have used. With the thin felt tip, you can go for a nice soft wing; or you can try a bolder look with the thicker tip end.
The essence 2-in-1 eyeliner pen has a good thin (normal pointy) applicator. The wider applicator may be good for drawing guidelines for the thinner one to fill in but that’s about it so I do not think it can be viewed as a 2-in-1.
I was so excited when I saw my sis had bought the Essence 2-in-1 eyeliner pen that I immediately went to use the thin tip to enhance my upper lash line. I really like that you have control similar to a Kohl pencil and yet get the effect of liquid eyeliner all because of the felt tip of the pen. The Essence 2-in-1 eyeliner pen is so named as it has a thin applicator for a precise, natural line and a broader applicator for an intensive, dramatic line. Now that I’d seen the thin tip in action I wanted to play around with the wider tip to draw more dramatic lines and cats eyes and pin up looks. So I nicked it from my sister (with her permission of course).
The first time I tried I had drawn a beautiful thick line with a flick at the outside corners. Alas that’s not where the liner stayed. An hour or two later and much of it had transferred to above the crease on my upper lid (luckily I was home the whole time). This could’ve been a combo of my lids just being naturally oily and the liner not drying. The solution or so I’ve heard: powder shadow. Take two: I prime my lid with a neutral shadow, use the eyeliner pen to draw a line and go over it with a similar colour eye shadow. This works but one loses the dramatic effect one gets from using an eyeliner. Take three: I prime my upper lid all over with a neutral shade, use the eyeliner pen to draw a line and I think we have a winner. In all this I had noticed that the broader applicator draws a wider but lighter and therefore less dramatic line so I used the thinner tip to colour in the broad line made.
At just under R 60 you can’t expect the world. I’m not sold on the wide applicator but I still really like the thin one so that alone makes this pen a decent, affordable buy.
This PEN is a magical wand, for R39.95 - i got 2 eyeliners in 1. A thicker marker on one side and a fine tip marker on the other side. Perfect eyeliner is achievable in under 30seconds even for beginners (first time liquid eyeliner users). Tip - put primer or base on and use eyeliner before eyeshadow as the eyeshadow tends to hinder a solid defined line, pull eye taunt and glide on...pretty simple, or you can re-apply after shadow if you want to re-define.
An extremely convenient makeup item. Makes applying liquid liner easier and the convenience of having 2 tips to choose from according to your mood makes this the perfect item for every cosmetic purse. It's an affordable product but lasts as long as most of it's higher end competitors. I would definitely recommend it to the beginner and the experienced makeup user.
