Dove Colour Radiance Deep Repair Treatment Mask Review

I am a big fan of the Dove range however the hair care range disappointed me a bit.
For me this product didn't do much to treat my colored hair.

It smells really great and has a nice thick formulation however in saying that I can't say that it did much difference to my hair.

I am a firm believer in masques, having used salon products for many years. I never seem to find a product that is not too runny and manages to balance effortlessly on the tips of the hair without falling off them! I must say this masque was definitely one of my favourite products I received in my very generous package from Dove. I used every product religiously –to the last drop. Coming back to the hair masque, my hair remained constant, irrespective of whether it was left for a full day or 5 minutes; the finish had precisely the same had precisely characteristics. I used a large round brush as well as the stay in conditioner, detangler to smooth, and make the hair easy to comb out and manage in style. I was often complimented on my satín smooth hair. I found the price of the masque reasonable and the product of such rich quality that I did not bother with the normal conditioner. I will continue using it. One small glitch is the lack of silicon gel just to smooth fly away ends. The leave in conditioner does aid this but I think for a professional finish this should be thought of. Excellent product, thank you for letting me try it.

A flat, smooth, easy to comb out and manage style. i used a round brush as a styling tool an was complimented on my satín smooth hair. I find the price reasonable and the product of such rick quality i will continue using it. One small glitch is the lack of silicona gel just to smooth fly away ends. The leave in conditioner does aid this but I think for a professional finish this should be thought of. Excellent product, thank you for letting me try it.

Firstly let me give you some background on what Dove claims this product to do:

With Colour Revitaliser, the Dove® Deep Repair Treatment Mask nourishes and rebuilds the protective hair damaged during the colouring process to keep your colour healthy and full of vibrancy and luminosity.

The Dove® Deep Repair Treatment Mask deeply replenishes hair to leave the colour vibrant looking for longer.

Here are my thoughts on the container:

1) The container is NOT USER-FRIENDLY! Firstly the font on the labels is so small that it makes it difficult, for even an owl with a magnifying glass, to read & impossible once one is in the shower.

2) There is a label stuck to the bottom of the container (why on the bottom, I ask you?) that got all wrinkly & soggy, once I put it down on the shower floor.

3) The shape of the container is AWKWARD. I would have much preferred the good old tube, where one has control over how much you squeeze out. Here it is, dig out with your fingers and hope for the best! The shape makes this product less user-friendly & cost-effective. I had to balance both the opened container & lid in my left hand, while I was spreading the product over my hair with my right hand. (Looked a bit like a confused chicken ;-)).

Now for the product itself:

1) Smells great!

2) Consistency great & immediately feels great on hair.

3) Great & easy coverage (so a little goes a long way!).

4) It has never been easy to de-tangle my hair. For the first time in years I could brush my hair out properly without the brush getting stuck. YAY, YAY & HEEEEYAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

5) Of the usual coarseness of my dry hair in some places & frizziness, there were no sign. BOY, I WISH I COULD DO A CARTWHEEL WITHOUT ENDING UP IN HOSPITAL ;-)!

7) My hair immediately felt nourished, moisturised & revitalised.

8) Colour is still holding (do a little hop, skip & jump!)

The day after use, my impressions were:

1) My hair was extremely soft, but not limp.

2) I usually battle with limp hair after a treatment with other brands, but my hair was full of volume & bounce. My hair also seems even more wavy than usual.

3) We were having a high humidity, rainy, typical Durban steamy day. Where my hair usually resembles someone who stuck their finger in an electrical wall socket, my hair was manageable, without any added frizziness. YIIIPPPPPEEEEE!!!!!

4) My intense colour is still holding fine!


FINAL VERDICT:
Although the container is a bit un-user friendly (yes I make up words as I go along ;-)), the end result is no more dry frizzy ends & no more pets running for cover when they see their mom ;-). A day after use, my colour was still radiant, revitalised & full of volume. I LOVE this product & will RECOMMEND it to anyone with colour treated hair. SING HALLELUJAH for Dove. All they have to do to be perfect now, is stop testing their products on animals & will be a true follower forever!

The Dove Colour Radiance Deep Repair Treatment Mask is easy to use, mainly because you only need to leave the mask in for 3-5 minutes. So, you can easily use it when you're in a hurry.
It's a weekly treatment that is applied after shampooing and conditioning your hair.

I followed the easy instructions and waited 5 minutes before rinsing out the treatment mask.
I was not happy with the way my hair felt.

After using a treatment mask, my hair usually feel very soft and silky to the touch. But with the Dove Colour Radiance Deep Repair Treatment Mask, it felt as if i had not applied any conditioner at all.

I'm not sure if this is because it is not a product that was made for ethnic hair and so did not give the same effect as those made for African hair.

On the plus side, however,my hair's breakage reduced after the first use of this Dove treatment mask. My hair became healthier and I'm sure after a month of using this, my damaged hair will be fully repaired.

* I would just like to say, before I begin, that I used this product in conjunction with the rest of the Dove Colour Radiance Range, and since it was developed as a system I would recommend using them that way for best results.

This mask is amazing, I would say that in my opinion this mask is salon quality! It feels wonderful when you put it on, it drenches your hair with moisture without weighing it down and it helps to rebuild your hair and repair the damage caused by colouring. It also locks in your colour for longer. This is by far the best hair treatment I have ever used and I don't think I can ever go back to using anything else again. I am hugely impressed with it! I apply it to towel dried hair, comb through my hair from just under my roots to my ends, but focusing mainly on my hair from mid lengths to ends. Then I wrap my hair up for 5 minutes and rinse. This treatment should be used once a week. It comes in a 200ml tub, which is a very generous size in my opinion, and it will last a good few weeks. Like the rest of the Dove range, this smells delicious!
