Considering that I've been searching for pure witch hazel for months this product is a godsend. However, it does contain alcohol and parabens, which most professionals would not recommend for facial use as it can be drying and irritating.
I combined this with rose water ( known for its hydrating properties) in a 1 to 1 ratio and the results have been great!
I have started incorporating more natural products into my skincare routine and I use this as a toner.
There are so many benefits of Witch Hazel:
- Remove excess oil and shrinks pores
- Fade blemishes and acne scars
- tighten skin and reduce inflammation
- Treat razor burn and rashes
BUT this particular Dischem-brand Witch Hazel contains parabens and alcohol so I would not repurchase
I found this to be great as a substitute toner. It helps keep my oily skin under control and prevents blemishes from turning nasty. The bottle is quite large and priced very competitively. The properties of this are very anti-bacterial and also effective for any types of infections. Good multipurpose product and handy around the household.
There always comes a point when I go all natural. During this phase I tend to make DIY face packs and witch hazel comes into play.I searched high and low for witch hazel and finally spotted it at Dischem. It can be used for many different ways as well.
If you’ve read my blog on making your own natural makeup over, you would have seen how I’ve been raving about the great properties witch hazel has for your skin. For those that don’t know what witch hazel is, witch hazel is a type of herb that is native to North America. It's been used for skin problems for a long time and it's great because the herb is a naturally soothing ingredient in many skin care products. It can be used to treat sunburnt skin, redness, or even skin that is damaged from shaving. Whatever problems you are having with your skin, there is a good chance that witch hazel can help you.
I was searching for witch hazel at all health shops but none of them sold it alone. Most of them were combined with rose water, etc. When I saw this product at Dis-chem I got it immediately, especially since it was super affordable as well – 250 ml for R19.95. I read the ingredients in store and asked the assistant whether this was pure witch hazel and she said that it was. But after purchasing this and reading the ingredients list once again, I don’t think that it is pure 100% witch hazel. Nevertheless, I’ve still been using this product in combination with olive oil as a natural makeup remover. I’ve also used this on a cotton bud and replaced my toner which has now finished. Although it says on the bottle that it is used to treat cuts, witch hazel has a very gentle scent and is definitely gentle enough to use on the face. I’ve been using it occasionally for a few months now and my skin is fine. I have sensitive skin, so if it doesn’t cause any weird reactions then it should be fine for most skin types.
