Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Plaiting Pudding Cream

I was disappointed in this product. I used it to do a twist out and braid out numerous times. Even though it provides great curl definition my hair would never get dry the following and would have this wet look to it. I've since learned that I must leave my twists in for more than 12 hours and I will have a great twist out.

When I leave my hair in its natural state I tend to plait it straight after a shower and let it loose when it's completely dry, and the process is a horrible, painful one.

I applied this to damp hair before plaiting my hair, and left it in for about 3 days, the curly waves I got out afterwards were so pretty and lasted a good couple of days.

This product is affordable and I really recommend it to natural girls.

I am not too sure if that was the purpose of this product -curl definition. But that was one of the outcomes when I used it. I am usually in twists during the week and then let my hair loose during the weekend. This weekend my twist out was on point!

I used the plaiting pudding on slightly damp hair and it really made plaiting a nice process.. My hair parted easily and I made some nice tight smooth plaits. It was a good texture to work with cause my fingers glided while I plaited. Wrapped up and went to sleep. And morning after my hair is non greasy with a slight gloss and the smell is really potent and I like that.. My roots feel moist to the touch and it's completely dry.. I like that.. So overall.. good stuff!!

One of my favorites in the range. Great styling product.

I use it on my Son's twists and when I plait my daughters hair.
Fruity fragrance is a bonus!

The consistency is thick but doesn't weigh the hair down.

I didn't know what the point of this product was.

I used it when doing my braids and I still got flyaways.

I expected that this product would lay my edges flat and smooth and be similar to a gel but I didn't get any of that result. To be honest my hair was just the same as when I braid it without the pudding.

I think this product would work better for those with a loser curl pattern (type 3's).

It does smell amazing though

The plaiting pudding helps to elongate and tame the hair for styling purposes. Almost like gel. Im not a fan of the flaky residue that appears after the product has dried up. But I rate it's really useful for those with super textured or long hair.

This is the product I was the most excited about trying. I used it in a twist out and it produced some beautifully defined curls. However, I wish it did a better job at maintaining the curls as they only lasted a day in my hair- meaning I had to re-twist my hair every night to maintain the style.
The product may leave some flaky residue once dry.
Overall I would consider repurchasing this product.

Overall:
I've been praying for a product like this! One of the biggest disadvantages of being natural- braided or plaited styles just never look as good for as long as straight hair, those pesky, frisky strands always sneak out before their time!

Feel and consistency:
Super duper thick! Feels like pudding and smells great.

After use...
My curls were stretched out, easier to manage and soft. This is great for twist or braid outs or styles with curl formers and curl rods.

Best part...
If you have unbearably dry hair you can use this as a moisturizer and you won't be disappointed.

After rinsing out the Dark and Lovely knot-out-conditioner I air dried my hair, and when it was nearly completely dry I applied the DnD Au naturale plaiting pudding cream and did bantu knows as a protective hairstyle. My hair feels moisturised, but not drenched in oil.

The plaiting pudding cream is the product that worked the best for me out of the whole range. Although I didn't like the feel of the product it was extremely thick and sticky to the touch it left me with a stretched & moisturized twist out. The curls didn't hold for too long but it did the job.

The Plaiting Pudding Cream smells amazing ! It was quickly absorbed into my hair and leaves my curls defined, looking rich, moisturized and adds a great shine.

I've been natural for around eight years now and it's been quite a journey. I think the most challenging thing overall was that I'm a student and the right products often cost quite a bit of money. The availability of products is also another thing, to order products online or via social media is quite a process, can be quite tedious and can I just mention this overpriced delivery fee that we have to pay??

I am really a one-stop shop kinda girl so my biggest wish is that I would be able to go into a local supermarket or drugstore and buy products for my hair while I purchase the rest of my items. Products that I know are effective, carry quality ingredients and there is a constant availability of them without going through difficult lengths for them to land in your hands.

I must say the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Plaiting Pudding Cream has to be one of my favourites from this range, 2nd to the Knot-Out Conditioner. First let's start with the smell, it smells amazing, like a fresh mango smoothie so it's like a full-fat smoothie for your hair.

Second the consistency: It did not feel weighed down at all. the consistency is quite thick but what is really great is that it does not leave any gross residue on your hands after application so when I applied it to my hair, it was quickly absorbed and left my shiny, moisturized ( not greasy) and my curls defined.

It has a nice hold as well, so it's a nice emergency if you've run out of your edge tamer.

Overall I love the product, and now that it is " Wash n Go" Season, it is definitely added as a staple to my regime.

The styling products in the range have a bit of a heftier price tag. However I maintain that this range is great value for the natural on a budget. Let’s be real, a lot of natural hair products come for a pretty penny, especially if you’re looking for healthy ingredients and effective results. The D&L Au Naturale Plaiting Pudding Cream and Afro Moisturising Butter have both these things, but at a reasonable price comparatively. I have type 3B/C hair and intended to LOC using these as my L and C.

The Plaiting Pudding Cream was so thick that even putting another product on was going to leave me looking like Severus Snape for sure. I hacked it by thinning it down to a more liquid form with water and it worked just as well as my usual R120 styling cream. It mixes well with other products, if you’re into that vibe (no white residue) and defined my curls, holding it’s own as well. I sealed with a light oil and I was good to go. This product has some serious potential as it can work for type 3 and 4 hair. The heavier texture means it won’t cause too much shrinkage, but definitely go easy if you prefer volume “:) I feel it’s important to note that I smelled exactly like a drink with a paper umbrella in the best way, which made other people feel like happy hour was closer, which made everyone happy.

I fell involve with theDark and Lovely Au Naturale Plaiting Pudding Cream on Day 1 of using it. The smell is amazing and so is the feel of the product in your hands. I tried it on a section of my hair and my hair felt soft instantly. I then used it the next day after shampooing and moisturising as I was getting ready to twist my hair. It makes the hair so soft and a pleasure to twist - I had very dry hair which was breaking badly and I was always losing a handful whenever I was handling my hair but this product has made it such a pleasure to twist my hair! I do bantu knots on average every two days before I go to sleep and undo the knots the next morning. I am totally involve with this product. My hair has such an amazing feel to it and I'm not losing chunks of hair every morning! Beautiful, beautiful product! Love at first touch!

Day 1- The plaiting pudding cream smells the same as the shampoo and conditioner. I applied it on my hair and combed it well before doing normal plaits as a protective hairstyle. My hair is managable and smells great.
