Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Moisture-Replenishing Shampoo

As a person that struggles with dry 4C hair The Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Moisture-Replenishing Shampoo has been amazing for my hair. My hair stays moisturized even after drying my hair. I am absolutely in love with the product.

I STARTED USING THIS PRODUCT ON MY 4C NATURAL HAIR ABOUT A YEAR AGO .. THIS PRODUCT HAS HELPED ME MAINTAIN A CLEAN DANDRUFF FREE SCALP EVER SINCE I BEGUN USING IT. IT CLEANSES THE HAIR , AND WHEN USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DETANGLING CONDITIONER AND THE CURL PUDDING IT LEAVES THE HAIR COILS HEALTHY AND HYDRATED ..AND I MUST ADD THAT THE MANGO OIL SCENT MAKES THE PRODUCT EVEN MORE PLEASANT TO USE EVERY 2 WEEKS .. LOVE LOVE LOVE

I was quite skeptical about the product’s hydrating claim as I have used many shampoos that have promised moisture and none of them have ever delivered. However, I was quite surprised at how soft my hair felt after I washed it! It’s the first shampoo that’s ever left my hair actually feeling moisturised despite it containing the dreaded sulphate and my scalp felt clean as well after use. It’s also quite inexpensive and a little goes a long way, which is a huge bonus!

The best part about this product is that is mineral & paraben free which is the first thing I always look for in a product. The worst part has to be the mango smell as I don't like the fruit.

However the results I got from using this product are enough to make me overlook the smell.

The lather was really good which came as a surprise considering the ingredients list. I only did two washes which was good enough to cleanse my hair thoroughly.

I would definitely recommend this product. If you already liked it. I recommend that you try out the 3 in 1 cleansing conditioner which is even better.

I absolutely love this shampoo. During the wash the lather seemed to be a little too good to be true and I was afraid my hair would dry even more than before once the hair dried. None of that with this shampoo. Well done dark and Lovely on this one. Au Naturale fan club right here. Smells great too.

One thing I hate about shampos is that they tend to strip my hair of everything, including my natural oils and I end up with dry hair that needs a serious deep conditioning.

This product, on the other hand, does the exact opposite. I wet my hair with warm water before applying the product and rinsing it out. The end result were soft curls that weren't dry and brittle.

The product smells amazing, and very little is needed for a thick lather meaning it will last longer! It doesn't contain any sulphates, parabens, mineral oils and petroleum, which cause damage to curly haired beauties.

Definitely recommend this!

I wet my hair with Lukewarm water and rinsed out old oils and then applied the shampoo.

It lathered up almost instantly and it was a really thick creamy lather. I didn't use very much of it and my whole head was foamy.. Smells delicious, like I was showering inside a fresh mango itself ? and it felt really fresh and tingly.

.After massaging that in and rinsing, I didn't repeat, I felt good and my hair didn't feel like it was stripped dry, it felt moisturized. Used only about 4 big squeezes (about a cm on the bottle) so that would be good value for money.. So I really like the smell, the serious foam and the feeling.

I also like the packaging and consistence and makes it so easy to use. Although DnL being such a big company, I thought they would have had better, slightly fancier packaging.

A bonus for naturalistas, it did not have parabens, mineral oil and petrolatum.

I used this shampoo and conditioner for the first time and I could feel the difference in my hair,love the smell and the magic was instant.
My hair heather,stronger and more manageable.
I have even opted to take a break from plating and just enjoy the 3 step routine every second day.

I love this shampoo. It foams up almost instantly and it smells amazing! It's quite thorough with the cleansing process. I would recommend it for those with dry hair/scalp because it leaves my hair hydrated and not at all crispy.

Normally, I am extremely wary of using shampoos on my hair. I am a co-washing type of girl.

I tried the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale moisture replenishing shampoo and from the get go I was in love with the smell of the product. I loved the fact that it was not overly "soapie" I am not a fan of products that have too much lather.

After washing, I noticed that the curl definition in my hair was not as defined as it should be, but my scalp was clean and my hair smelt A.M.A.Z.I.N,G

Unfortunately, the day after my hairline and ears broke out in a rash, so I think I had a bad reaction to the actual shampoo. The rash cleared after a few days and I haven't used the shampoo since.

I really enjoyed this shampoo. I love the consistency of it (it’s not too thick but at the same time not too runny) and it smells amazing! This product claims to cleanse and bring moisture to the scalp- which is not far from the truth. This shampoo did an excellent job at cleansing and bringing moisture to my hair (which was a huge plus as most shampoos tend to dry my hair). This shampoo left my hair feeling super soft and smelling amazing! I would definitely recommend and repurchase this product.

I have high porosity hair (absorb moisture really quickly) but I live in Cape Town, and the wind is extremely harsh and dries out hair very quickly, so I'm particular about moisture especially in shampoos.

I was excited when I read that this was a 'Moisture-replenishing'shampoo, but disappointed after use. My hair was left dry and tangled and all the moisture had been stripped which I blame on the sulfates!!

After one uses I opted to co-wash with the conditioner which is much more effective or combine the conditioner with the shampoo (1 part shampoo:2 parts conditioner).

Overall, there are more effective shampoos on the market.

This is my second time using the shampoo. I do not know what went wrong the last time, but I had more foam this time. Anyway I used a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair while I still had the shampoo in my hair. My hair did not break at all as I detangled ( Surprising).
I love the fruity scent of the shampoo. I would really recommend this product.

The shampoo smells great and at a low price really provides value for money. However the shampoo contains a sulfate ingredient which can be extremely drying to natural hair, one should definitely do a pre shampoo treatment before using this shampoo

So, i personally do not use Shampoo, i find it leaves my hair feeling dry and looking dull even after excessive uses of Conditioner so i was a bit hesitant in using this product but let me just say , I L-O-V-E this Shampoo and have already highly recommended it to all my friends and family who embrace their Au Naturale hair :)

First off, it smells incredible, its the perfect mixture of sweet fruits, the aroma even had me feeling fresh and playful and ready for some summer sun after the dull winter months. This Shampoo upon use de-tangled and softened my curls, definitely a must buy :)

It smells so fruity and lathers really well. I found the shampoo to be very softening (while using) and I could actually de-tangle with it. I have mixed feeling about the sulfate ingredient that this shampoo has because it also contributes to making our hair dry but at the same time it's necessary to cleanse & clarify.


To counter act the drying effect I would recommend the use of an oil before shampooing (also known as pre-poo) or mixing the shampoo with the conditioner when washing.


Over all the Shampoo gets a 7/10

The Knot out conditioner is one of my favorite products in this range! It smells divine, is an amazing detangler so I don't feel like I'm losing chunks of hair while I'm washing it because hair is not knotted. So I don't end up with chunks of hair on the floor. I comb it through and the comb glides through. It's amazing! My hair came out smelling amazing and so soft and not knotted like it used to be. Definitely worth buying!

I love this shampoo from its tropical scent to how it leaves hair so clean and soft! Initially I wasn't impressed about its foaming abilities but on my second wash I realized that I needed to get my hair really wet first and then let it work it's magic. I would definitely recommend it to all my friends and family members.

This shampoo has an amazing tropical scent that last just over a week on my hair. It does have a sulfate in it but is a great clarifying shampoo to remove product build up.

My hair felt really clean after I used the shampoo. It was soft and looked incredibly moisturized. Defos a thumbs up from me. I will be using this shampoo during the summer months :).

I don't normally use shampoo on my hair as I steer clear of sulfates but this shampoo gives me a clean, soft wash and would use it again. The smell, ahhhh...fruity and fun! Definitely a product I'd recommend to friends and also buy again!

The entire range has an amazing tropical scent reminiscent of papaya, takes you straight to the island. The only possible downside is being chased by monkeys because of it #durbanproblems. The shampoo is a good option for clarifying, and leaves hair smelling amazing. I know I said this already, but damn that smell is H E A V E N. The entire range is free of all the nasty parabens and drying alcohols that curly hair does not need, but the shampoo has sulphates. At this point I was on my knees screaming “WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY” to the hair deities, I feel you. I’ve only recently discovered the joys of a good co-wash and I was so loathe having to use sulphates again D: FIX THIS PLS PLS PLS TALKING TO YOU D&L

I love the smell of this shampoo! The mango fragrance is perfect for Spring! The shampoo lathers well and is thick but easy to rinse out. Would definitely repurchase just for the smell.

Definitely love at first use! I love the fruity smell and I love most things about this product. It foamed a nice lather, it was not too thick so I had to add in a little more. My hair felt great, smelled heavenly and was soft to the touch after shampooing it. My scalp didn't feel itchy after shampooing my hair which is a bonus for me. I love this product, I wish it was thicker in terms of lather but this is not a deal breaker, I still love the product and will recommend it.

Day1- The shampoo smell is great, inviting and fruity, ha ha perfect for the season we are in at the moment 'Spring'. The texture of the shampoo is nice and slippery in your hands, glides easily onto the hair. I had no bad reaction.
