Three years ago I had a major breakout episode and my dermatologist recommended this cleanser. I have not used another facial cleanser since. This is not the cheapest drugstore cleanser but still cheaper that the high end cleaners I used before so I'm definitely staying with this one.
I use the Cetaphil Oily skin cleanser which is recommended by dermatologists for use on oily, combination or acne-prone skin requiring special attention. It is clinically proven to gently wash away, with its gentle foaming action, excess surface oils, dirt, skin debris and make-up, all of which can clog your pores and lead to breakouts. This cleanser is soap-free, and it is non-comedogenic so it won't clog pores.
I use this to cleanse my face every morning before I put on makeup and in the evening to wash off all the makeup in one easy go. No need to scrub, just wet your face, apply a small amount of the product on your hands, rub gently over face and rinse. It doesn't have a scent. This is the perfect no-fuss cleanser!
Because winters in Namibia can get very cold and I feel like my skin gets too dry, I switch up the Oily Skin Cleanser for the Gentle Cleansing Lotion, which is a mild, non-irritating formulation that soothes skin as it cleans. Designed specifically to work for all skin types.
I started using this when I started breaking out frequently. It's smells like medicine but applies well. It doesn't foam up but only a little is needed. I felt as though it cleaned out my pores and did a great job at removing left over makeup.
It calmed my breakouts and my skin felt smoother and refreshed after use. This didn;t necessarily prevent breakouts/acne but it did help control it. My usually oily skin was more manageable. My skin didn't get so oily throughout the day.
This does dry out the skin (just a little bit) so I suggest using a moisturiser afterwards.
A little back to story to me discovering Cetaphil:
I used Cetaphil, the oily range, while i was on Oratane to help with my oily skin. I've been having a battle with acne since I was about 17. It happened out of nowhere, I never really had majorly problem skin and then one day I broke out really bad and since then I've been struggling to get rid of acne. I decided to a dermatologist who prescribed me Oratane and with this I used Cetaphil as my skin routine everyday.
Cetaphil is really brilliant for shine control on your forehead and cheeks which is where i struggled with acne. Cetaphil is quite pricey but you definitely get what you paying for. I'd highly recommend this product to someone with oily skin.
After washing your face its feels dry but also really smooth, you get a moisturizer as well so definitely use that after cleansing your face to alleviate the dry feeling.
This is a constant repurchase for me as NOTHING works better than my Cetaphil Gentle face cleanser. (I'm currently on my sixth purchase!) I recently tried another cleanser and it broke me out so badly , that I happily came back to my HOLY GRAIL face wash.
I have mildly sensitive skin , that has to be clean constantly to prevent pimples from appearing and this face cleanser leaves my skin SQUEAKY clean for so long! ...It doesn't foam up like normal cleanser do but it really does clean the skin amazingly!
A little of this product goes a long way. It comes with a pump and this makes me really happy as it is very hygienic. You don't even need a full pump to wash your face.
I use this cleanser morning and night and even after make up use. You may feel that it does clean the face and leave it feeling a little dry , so follow up with a moisturiser.
As far as I can remember I suffered from acne and blemish skin. There wasn't a day that I would pray for something, just something to clear my skin. I have tried everything on the market - I mean everything! From home remedies, to pills, to creams and even things that I can't even spell (everything). Products that I have used either made my skin dry, feeling tight, or my skin was either too sensitive or too severe.
People always said it's because you don't cleans your skin properly, you don't drink enough water.... and the list goes on....
Have you ever wondered that the most flashy looking product always sells best, even though it doesn't work.
What I have learnt is that the products that do work (I mean really do work) are the products that resemble medical care.... and this is Cetaphil, mild and soft cleanser for your skin.
At the end of the day I sit with the most oiliest skin on earth. During the course of the day I have to pat my face with a tissue, to get rid of excess oily areas.
Since I used Cetaphil, I mean from day 1 - it doesn't leave your skin feeling dry or tight. There are some nights that I don't feel I need to moisturize, because it feels so soft and smooth.
My skin being sensitive and all, the Cetaphil formula is not harsh as other facial cleansers. The soft sent is mild and suttle.
I will definitely be buying Cetaphil products as they really do work.
Thanks BB for the opportunity to try out such an amazing product. I've been an eczema sufferer for the past fifteen years and I've never used a product that my skin loves so much. It's very expensive thought and being a student I can't afford to buy it when this is done. It's worth all the money because it's so good but I doubt I'd be able to buy it anytime soon. Thanks again BB ?
To my delight I received my Cetaphil hamper containing the following products to test. A 125ml Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser, a 250ml Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser, a 50ml Cetaphil Moisturising Cream an a 50ml UVA/UVB Defence. I have been using the Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser and Moisturising Cream daily and have noticed a significant improvement in the appearance of my skin. The moisturiser is amazing, I don't even need to use a primer under my foundation anymore. I went away for a weekend and sadly forgot my Cetaphil only to have my skin break out in pimples by the end of the weekend. I am hooked on Cetaphil and am definitely going to continue using it! I will definitely recommend this variant to people with combination or oily skin.
My war against oily skin is a never ending battle.. I leave the house looking fresh and mattified but by the afternoon it is always return of the shine! :/
At first I was admittedly sceptical that Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser would be able to finally win this war against sebum station, and after 3 weeks of use I wouldn't say its a victory but it defiantly is an improvement!
The clear, non soapy liquid is refreshing and clean on the skin and doesn't leave skin feeling tight or too dry. And a little drop really goes a long way.
I only used it once a day (in the evening), using it twice a day may have made my skin a bit dry since it is winter.
I cant say whether it was helpful in preventing breakouts as my skin goes through random stages of clear and not clear so its very hard to relate it to a specific problem... I would only be able to tell after about 6 moths of use (I shall return and give an update then though ;) )
I think that combined with an oil control moisturiser, Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser can be the perfect alliance to defeat the shine monster once and for all!
Hi,
My name is Michelle and I've suffered of eczema for 43 years. My skincare regime has always been zinc based, thick, smelly ointment with a cortisone injection every 6 weeks, daily application of Lanovate ointment and every Saturday for the last 7 years a whole body cover of Dovate ointment. This has made my skin thin and prone to cracking open. Itchy, burning, scaled skin with weeping sores is what I have lived with most of my life not to mention that I am allergic to soap so I have been using a special mixture my dermatologist makes for me.
Then I receive your Cetaphil body wash and cream and my life changed FOREVER!!! I went cold turkey on all my medication and only used the product sent. I have never had such smooth and soft skin. No itching, no sores, no flaking skin. I can even use make up over the moisturiser. The shower gel is amazing to use and I love the foam. It’s gentle on my skin and does not burn. My hands are no longer cracked and sore but soft and silky smooth.
I cannot thank Beauty Bulletin enough for making me part of this review. It has changed my life forever. My son also suffers from eczema and with Cetaphil he does not have to go through all the awful medicines, creams and cortisone injections like I did. Cetaphil is the answer to any eczema sufferers’ prayers for a normal skin.
This product both the Body wash and Body Lotion works together so well in keeping my daughters Eczema prone skin under control. It hydrates her skin so much better than most other products! It is a bit pricey though but so worthit!!
Both my daughter ( aged 6) and myself suffer from dry, itchy skin especially during Winter, so I was very keen to try out the Cetaphil range of skincare products when this review club survey popped up in my inbox. Hooray, I got picked to test out the Restoraderm range! Thank you darling Beauty Bulletin ladies for selecting me to participate in this review club as it has been a God send this winter already.
What normally happens as the air gets colder and drier is that my legs start to itch. It doesn't matter how much lotion I plaster on, I still end up scratching by the end of the day. This is especially true when I wear tights. I also get little bumps on my chest and back which you cant see, but which feel gross.
Kaylin had big eczema patches as a baby, which she seems to be slowly growing out of, but she also gets horribly itchy, dry skin during the winter months and the odd red scaly patch as well.
We have both been using the body wash for about a week now and I am thrilled to report absolutely NO itchy legs and my little bumps on my chest and back have vanished completely. Kaylin's skin is soft and there are no red scaly patches at all. She normally scratches her skin raw and now it is smooth and beautiful! Apart from her kiddie scrapes and bruises of course.(LOL)We have been using the body wash and the body moisturiser together as is recommended in the pamphlet.
Kaylin and I both loved the little wetbag that the combo arrived in! It has a hook so you can hang it in your bathroom and little pouches so you can use it as a travel bag too. What a lovely touch! Thanks Beauty Bulletin and Cetaphil for allowing us to experience this amazing product. It is pricey, but definitely would repurchase should my budget allow it.
its been a week and i am so impressed with this product. my skin has never seen a better winter thumbs up - my son agrees and he uses these 2 a day and i will soon be at the store replacing my empty bottles thank you beauty bulletin for giving us the opportunity to try this product yippee

I used the Cetaphil RestoraDerm Skin Restoring Body Wash and found it not bad at all. My daughter of 11 years however has been suffering with seasonal change eczema on certain parts on her body and face and used the Restoring Body Wash twice a day for 5 days in conjunction with the Cetaphil RestoraDerm Skin Restoring Moisturizer.
After the 3rd day I noticed the eczema next to her eye becoming more prominent. I advised her to carry on for another 2 days and to my surprise it worsen. She stopped using the Cetaphil Products immediately and applied (Levovate cream). By the following day her rash cleared up significantly.
I attach pictures for your perusal.
In my honest opinion I would not recommend this product for children with skin problems.

My personal experience:
Thank you BB for allowing me to review this lovely product. I was really excited when i recieved my goody bag.I have been using this cetaphil RestoraDerm body wash on myself and my 5 year old niece who suffers from eczema and wow what an amazing change. Her skin is no longer constantly dry and flaky and we no longer have to deal with red flareups. It is really nice that we finally found a product that works for her skin. This cetaphil body wash leaves skin moisturised, maitains skins PH level and skin is left beautifully soft and healthy. I would also highly recommend this product during winter when skin tends to dry out and also for all those lovelys who have been on the roaccutane journey, these meds not only dry out your face but also your entire body. An excellent body wash for the entire family :) thank you cetaphil my niece and i are happy chappy due to your wonderful product.
Have heard so many good things about this particular cleanser from many beauty bloggers. I dont know why I took my own sweet time to buy this product. I suppose the basic white and blue non attractive container didnt have that magnetic power when compared flashy pinks, greens and yellows. Anyway one fine day I got this cleanser as my skin was not at its best with breakouts.
The cleanser is tranparent and doesnt foam like regular cleansers and facial foams. The smell was not overwhelming.
This cleanser left my skin clean and oil free. Skin was left smooth with no dry patches. It did help to bring down the inflamation caused by breakouts. It takes some time to get used to this cleanser but once you start seeing the effect on your skin you will start loving this cleanser.
This is oh so gentle on skin and a dermatologist recommended I use it when I was a teenager with acne flare ups on regular basis. Definitely helps calm and soothe skin and does not leave it irritated and dry. Removes excess oil and sebum to prevent pores from clogging up.
After hearing beauty gurus rave about this product for years, I finally decided to try it out! Now I know what all the fuss was about, I use this product every day (along with a combination of my other face products) and will be repurchasing it again and again. This gives such a clean feeling to my skin without leaving it feel dry or tight. My skin is so soft and all the oily-ness is gone after a quick wash. I also feel that this product has left my skin feeling more supple and left my tear troughs less noticeable.

I should also mention that I purchase this in the 125ml size. As I said I use this ever day, a little goes a long way. I've had the same bottle for a few months now.
