I think any girl with ethnic ( afro) hair would agree that her main concern is further damaging your hair when using a straightening iron. After all the stress ( relaxing, colouring, blowing etc.) that I subject my hair to in order to get it looking decent, I was a bit concerned and sceptical about using the GHD Eclipse.
I went to Franco International Hair Studio in Sandton and my stylist, Callan, put me at ease about using the GHD Eclipse. She explained that although the GHD Eclipse temperatures averaged at 185 degrees (the perfect temperature for straightening hair), the GHD Eclipse was more effective because it has super fine precision plates for the best transfer of heat. The top of the GHD Eclipse plates also remained cool to the touch so the chances of burning or scalding your skin (or cupboard) is low.
She also explained how safe The GHD Eclipse was and more importantly how quick my BushJ would be straightened… She mentioned that the GHD Eclipse has new tri-zone technology( essentially sensors that maintain the temperature throughout styling ensuring a much faster styling time)
I explained that I usually take about 2 hours to style my hair - this includes washing, rolling and then blowing. And that’s just to get it manageable. And if I do use a straightening iron, I had to take very very very very small sections of hair and that usually added another hour !!!
Honestly, at this point it was all sounding too good to be true… But I was there and willing to give it a try…
The first thing that stuck out for me, once the stylist started using the GHD Eclipse, was that my hair did not burn, sizzle or even feel hot at all…
Secondly, the GHD was making light work of “MY “ Hair!!! Wow… Callan was taking chunky bits off hair
But most importantly, the results were impressive… My hair was uber straight… And it took 5-7 mins to get it done….Including cutting my bangs
See the total Eclipse I did below…
Added bonus, the results lasted until my next wash!!! See my hair pic from the next day below…
I have been back for 2 more sessions with the GHD Eclipse in a 4 week period and due back at Franco’s next week…
The GHD Eclipse !!! I LUV, LUV, LUV
