So, again were here; sensitive skin leading me to try the most reliable name in Acne care- Benzac. I was previously treated with Benzac cream to clear my skin and prep it for treatment, but with the change of weather and stressful situations (damn you Exams!) comes the occasional break-out.
With this in mind, I always turn the Benzac AC5 wash for Acne.
It helps keep my skin hydrated, clear and under control when I need it the most. Exam season is always tough, even more so on the strain the body gets put under. Benzac Facial wash for Acne provides all the care sensitive acne-prone skin needs to recover, heal and stay spot free. It is a tad expensive but is a medicinal treatment and so is relatively cheap when compared to other high end luxury brand washes. It retails for around R279.99 for a 100g. This quantity desnt sound like much but boy-oh-boy does it last. Only a pea sized amount is needed at any given time as the formula is reach and creamy.
Imagine the feel to using a light watered down version of your moisturizer to gently and effectively cleanse ones face. The wash is creamy in texture and white in colour. As I remember using the Benzac gel I had expected on first use for this wash to be harsh and drying, yet I was pleasantly surprised to find it moisturizing and hydrating. It cleans and clears my skin in one action as it contains Benzoyl Peroxide, known for its healing and cleansing properties. Around midday though, my T-zone and eyelids do tend to get a tad oily. This I suppose is expected as Benzac does not possess the qualities of a normal face wash that helps change, preserve and fortify skin; this instead maintains its condition.
The bottle and packaging are white in colour with dark blue and aqua writing. The wash is within the white tube which has a twist-off lid. I would prefer a flip-lid as it makes application easier for the morning rush. The wash does not lather and neither does it possess any beads or exfoliates. It has no scent and is gentle on skin, except when it gets into your eyes which really burns. So be sure to keep away from the eye area. You have to wet your face and then gently rub around the wash onto skin in circular movements to gently cleanse skin. Once done, wash away with warm water which is very easy to do as there is no soapy residue or lather to rinse away.
I would recommend you use this wash in the afternoons in conjunction with your regular facial routine to help minimize breakouts and keep Acne at bay. Or if you are a sufferer of Acne, try this wash and the gel out and see if it helps clear out your skin. Both these products are available at most Clicks, Dischem and pharmacies without a prescription and come in different sized options.
Truely an incredible product worth every single cent. Thank you for this comprehensive insight into Benzac! What a fantastic review! I purchased mine for R190 at dischem for the 200ml wash, and you are so right it lasts ages! Benzac is my best friend!
