Firstly the scent of it is AMAZING – it has a floral scent, that's not too heavy and reminds me of wandering around orchids and meadows. Since it was a sample, it didn’t have any application directions, so I did a quick google search on my phone. I found the webiste and it said to apply the mask to damp skin, keep it on for about 2-3 minutes, then massage it into your skin, and then rinse off – which is exactly what I did (If I hadn’t googled the application directions I was prepared to keep it on for 20 minutes eek!). Upon application it immediately warms your skin and you feel a tingly sensation which goes away quite quickly. After 3 minutes, I massaged my skin and the gentle exfoliating action felt so therapeutic. I rinsed it off with cold water and went to inspect my skin in the mirror. My skin felt really soft, like a baby’s bottom! I could see that my skin tone looked much more even and not a hint of shininess. I couldn’t really notice an immediate difference in my pores, but I said I would continue to investigate that. I applied the mask at night, and followed it with my usual moisturiser and woke up to amazing looking skin! I went back to Truworths the next weekend and purchased a bottle. I use it religiously now (once or twice a week). One some days it can make my skin a teeny bit dry, so I follow it with a moisturizing mask and the after affects are amazing.

Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream

My under eye area can be quite puffy and I sometimes have dark circles. It’s been like this for as long as I can remember irrespective of sleep, water intake, caffeine etc. and needless to say I’ve tried countless creams in order to counteract this. I was introduced to the Bobbi Brown extra eye repair cream about 2 years ago at the Bobbi Brown counter at Sandton City whilst shopping for another product and it immediately caught my eye. I love the packaging – it is presented in a glass jar so you can get just the right amount out that you need. At about R700 it is quite expensive, but because the cream is sooo rich, you only really need to apply a small amount, so you get more bang for your buck. You need to apply some to your under eye area in the morning and to your entire eye area (under eye and brow bone area) at night. The cream is extremely rich and moisturizes and hydrates the delicate eye area to perfection! It is absorbed easily into the skin and concealer goes on seamlessly. You will notice the difference immediately, I have been using the cream on and off for 2 years now and it has made a significant difference to my under eye area.

Body Shop Vitamin C Facial Radiance Capsules

My skin had been really dull recently, and I was looking for a quick brightening pick-me-up product that would give me guaranteed results. I have combination skin, with some scarring on my cheek area. I had recently spent a few weeks in Europe and change in climates and travelling had left my skin looking quite not so pretty! I heard that vitamin C has exceptionally good brightening properties and when applied to the skin topically it can significantly enhance skin radiance. The Body Shop has an entire Vitamin C skincare line, with prices that are much easier on the pocket than the brands you would buy at the salons. I’ve used the vitamin c serum before (I’ll leave that review for another day!) and didn’t have a bad reaction to it so I opted to try out the vitamin c radiance capsules this time (usually I try and buy my body shop products when they have their 3 for 2 sales!). The packaging is quaint, a little bottle that contains 28 capsules that you use over the next 28 days. You are meant to apply it at night, after thoroughly cleansing your skin. Just twist the capsules and squeeze the product out. It smells like oranges – which doesn’t really appeal to me that much, and has a serum-like texture. At first I thought that the product was too less to cover my entire face and thought that I might just need 2 capsules, but it’s enough – those Body Shop people know their stuff! When you apply it, your skin immediately feels smoother and softer. Just let the product sink in and wash it off in the morning with your usual cleanser. I’ve been using it for 3 weeks now and during the first week of using it I had a few pimples popping up (I hardly ever break out) and then I stopped using it for 2 days and then carried on again and haven’t had any problems since. I only noticed a difference in my skin after a week; the texture had improved a lot, my complexion was significantly brighter and all round looked healthy – all without saving me a trip to the salon for a facial. I still have about 7 capsules left in my bottle and will definitely be buying this product again in the future – great for reviving the skin and giving it a boost in these winter months.
