My fear of blue smokey eyes is over!!! I am always up for trying and experiencing new things, and I was scared to try the blue smokey eye look because let’s face it, you need to get a colour that suits your skin tone and I am more of a natural look kind of girl.
This past weekend I wanted to get all dressed up and hit the town with the girls, and since it has been a while, I decided to try something different with my eyes... BLUE SMOKEY EYES (and yes I know it might sound weird for a black girl, but I think I pulled off).
I tried the Almay Shadow Softies, the Revlon Bold Lacquer mascara and the Revlon Colourstay eyeliner and they worked great together. The Almay Shadow Softies is fantastic because it is neither a cream shadow nor a powder shadow – the texture is in-between (which for me is flawless). It is super soft so absolutely fun to play around with and of course looked amazing with my brown eyes.
Because I have non-existent eye lashes I added the Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara which added that extra length and volume I needed and yes, this bad boy is also WATERPROOF!!! It is the ultimate black, bold definition mascara, and I don’t know how I have lived without it.

When we received the Almay softies range, I was immediately drawn to the cute packaging and rich, velvety colour of each compact.
As someone who shy's away from eyeshadows due to the gathering of pigment in every crease- I was excited to try a product that promised to smooth out my eyelids and create even, vibrant colour.
I was not disappointed! In addition to the bright, lasting colour of Midnight Sky - my lids were crease free! The colour lasted all night without fading or requiring reapplication. Although turquoise in the packaging, Seafoam appeared more sheer on my eyelids and required a bit more layering to achieve noticeable colour.
The shimmer within each compact was another winner for me - it created rich colour that was not flat on the skin. I will look to the range for more vibrant colours to add a bit of life back to my beauty routine!

Such a awesome cute little eye shadow :) and so many lovely shades to choose from. I was in a hurry so I picked a "safe" shade and took the peach fuzz one. It's a light peachy colour that gives lashes a nice soft colour without being over powering, nice natural look yet you can see you have a eye color on. Perfect shade for me :) love it!!

I am having tons of fun creating different ey shadow styles and looks using almay softies. Its available in soooo many colours you are bound to find the colour that matches the look you want to create.
They are fun, funky, hip and great fun to play with. Only R 54, 95 at Dischem.
I settled on honeydew which is a greenish colour and I have never tried an colour like that before. The product is very smooth when it comes to application and I must say the greenish colour makes me look instantly awake. This is also the first time I have bought and tried an almay product that I lurv.
The colour is very soft hence the name softies but creates a very striking and intense look; now I can create many styles of smokey eyes.

Almay Shadow Softies in 110 Lilac is a frosty lilac that is super soft to the touch. The texture of the shadow is a cream to powder combination. When I press into the shadow, it has the texture of the Maybelline Bouncy Blush, but swiped, it completely feels & acts like a powder.
The packaging is black and matte, with a window showing the colour of the shadow inside. Its a bit of a hassle to open at first, but once I got used to it, it was fine. The packaging needs to be air tight for the eye shadow not to dry out.
I have found that applying this shadow with my fingers works best and because of its unique texture, there is no powder fall out. The not so great aspect of this shadow is that the colour pay-off is quite sheer, no matter how much you try and build it up.
I tried wearing this shadow with and without an eye primer. Without, it disappears within a couple of hours and with the primer, it lasts a few hours more. Note that my skin is very fair & this shadow comes off as barely there on me, so I don't know how it would show up on medium to dark complexions.
It did not irritate my extremely sensitive skin & I experienced no unpleasantness with the texture. I would like to try out some of the other colours in their new Shadow Softies collection, seeing as the price is reasonable for 2 grams of product.
