I use the Almay Smart shade Anti-aging foundation and found it a real gem. Unlike the other Almay light foundations up for review, I found the SMART SHADE ANTI AGING product to be effective in covering without leaving your face look like a plastered masterpiece. Real smart shading as it blends in really well... (have not found any streaks or uneven colour matching when blending). A must have in my cosmetic bag.
This foundation is perfect if you don't want a heavy 'just plastered foundation on my face' look, it gives a lovey flawless look, with a sheer coverage and a lovely dewy fresh look. I noticed it makes my skin a little oily so I dust on some loose powder over it so theres no problem there! I really didn't have a problem with the scent though.
Usually priced at around R120, I bought this on sale at Clicks for R69. I think it's a fantastic product if you're going for a natural look. Very sheer coverage, so you should use concealer on top if you need to. It evens out the skin tone and adjusts to your colour and lasts for hours. It also feels very silky and comfortable on the skin. Incredibly light textured. You may need to use a powder over just to cover up any imperfections, but for a sheer, natural look, this product is a must! I will definitely be buying this again. One last mention is that it comes in shades for all skin types(a must in South Africa).
I was excited to try this as I love using more natural products. Seeing that this was 97.4 % natural I wanted it immediately. It also has a nice floral design packaging that I was attracted to.
This foundation has a very sheer coverage - almost like tinted moisturiser. It feels a bit oily but nothing over the top, so its nice to use in winter when my skin is dry. Buff is a good match for fair skin. The moment I started to apply it I noticed this horrible smell. It definitely smelled old - very much like old oil. It has that bitter old smell. It is odd because this line appeared on the shelves not more that 2 years ago. I have read reviews about it before and people really seemed to like the floral smell but it has obviously changed.
Unfortunately, I won't carry on using it because of the smell. I have written to Almay about it and will expect a replacement. I don't recommend it unless you open it before you buy it to make sure it still smells ok...
Smells really terrible, and feels funny on my lips. Even though i love the whole natural aspect and the packaging is cute, I can't put up with the smell, so will definitely not buy again.
I bought this in December and have used it sporadically since. Its not really my kind of foundation simply because the coverage is extremely light. It feels like a tinted moisturiser when on and is extremely runny. Its very oily as well and you have to shake the tube quite vigorously to get an even consistensy. It looks very natural on my skin but I need more coverage so this is not for me.
If you looking for something more than a tinted moisturiser but less than a medium foundation then this is perfect.
This was on sale at Foschini and I paid R87 as the normal retail price is well over R100.
