I recently had a pedicure, after i left the beautician i decided i wanted the same colour on my hands.

so off i went to Edgars and purchased my Inglot nail enamel, it was a very light pink almost whiteish (stunning colour) the reason i bought this one and not a cheaper brand was because i tried using cheaper brands on these lighter colours and i find myself using half the bottle just to get the desired colour.
No ways would that happen when i am paying close to R120 a colour with Inglot (i might as well of had them done professionally).
Well boy, was i wrong.
i must of used close to half the bottle just to get a colour on my nails (which wasnt see through). which also means there is so much nail polish on your nails that you cannot touch anything for about 8 hours because it will smudge. And we all no how irritating that can be because it means having to start all over.

Recently I decided that I needed some new nail polish colours for my manicures and pedicures.

It was not long before I came across the almost gruesomely amazing Inglot counters. They literally had hundreds of different nail polish shades to choose from. It took me over an hour to commit to two shades. At the time I bought them for R89 each.

I do love the fact that Inglot has a huge variety of shades to choose from, and the staff at the counters are always helpful and friendly. They can help you find the shades that will compliment you best. Don’t be shy to ask. There is no point in spending hundreds of rands on cosmetics only to buy shades that are unflattering.

Anyhow, let’s move on to the actual quality of the product.

The product has a relatively moderate consistency. It is thick, not clumpy, and fluid enough to make it easy to apply. Three strokes covered my nail. There was no mess and very little polish that had to be cleaned up around the edges of my nail.

The colour is intense, but like most nail polish you need to apply two coats for the best results. One coat makes your nail polish look streaky, and you do get some ‘see-through’ patches.

It takes about two minutes for each coat to dry. It might not sound like a long wait, but for those who have tried quick drying nail polish, it can be torture. Once dry, however, the polish looks glossy, smooth and bright.

As with most of my manicures and pedicures I apply a see-through base coat, two coats of colour and a protective see-through top coat. I was a bit disappointed that my manicure only lasted two days. I applied it on the Wednesday and by the Saturday I started noticing chips at the tip of my nails. I did not, however, take special precautions with my nails. I washed dishes every day (with gloves) and used my hands and nails as roughly as I usually do in everyday life.

Overall it is a rather average nail polish. If you are looking for a quick drying and/or long lasting nail polish this is not the product to buy. Also, the product does provide any additional fancy care to your nails. No added minerals, vitamins or strengthening and split nail treatments.

However, I will definitely keep buying the product, simply because they have such a huge variety of shades, and the product is not very expensive. A major bonus is that fact that the product is not tested on animals.

I had such high hopes for the Inglot nail polishes, particularly their breathable polish formula.

My mom bought me 3 bottles of the polish this last Christmas. One of the breathable in a gorgeous dove grey (I'm a sucker for grey polishes), and then two of the regular polish, one in a bright pastel orange, and one in a metallic gold.

Every single bottle of polish gave me a problem. The gold polish takes forever to dry and I just didn't find it to be as nice a colour as it seemed in the bottle. The orange I had to paint about 5 coats on before I saw a good solid colour, and also, it took forever to dry. The breathable grey polish had bits of the brush falling off onto my nails every time I brushed a stroke on! And all three had little air bubbles pop up. I showed my mom (who is a trained beauty therapist, and knows how to keep nail polishes) and she had not left it anywhere extremely hot and could not understand why the polishes were doing this!

Needless to say, considering the cost of these polishes and their poor quality, I won't be purchasing anymore.

I have purchased other Inglot nail polishes but was not impressed with them. I was pleasantly surprised by this nail colour. Other Inglot nail polishes I have bought were rather watery and required 2-3 coats to get an even finish. This nail polish only required one coat and is such a beautifully dynamic red. When you look at it straight on it looks like a normal deep red, but when you look at it from an angle there is a beautiful shimmer to it. I tried to capture what I mean in the photos above. I simply LOVE this colour....and for only R47, I wish I got more to give as gifts! This lasts about 2 days which isn't all that great but I still love the colour!

This was the first nail enamel from Inglot that I've tried, and to be honest: I'm on the fence about it. I tried this polish in shade 947. I really liked the cool purple hue of the polish, but the formula was very thin and "watery" - I applied three coats and I still was not perfectly happy with the coverage. Drying time was average, which is okay if you only need one or two coats, but can get annoying when you need more - I ended up smudging two nails while waiting for the 3rd coat to dry. I got my first chip at the end of day 2 (when worn with my usual base and top coats). Overall, this polish was rather mediocre and failed to wow me - it's not something I'm rushing out to buy. Because I like the colour, I'll still wear this polish again. I did like the fact that this polish does not contain toluene, formaldehyde or DBP, and that Inglot does not test on animals.
