Perfect your skin while still maintaining a light, natural look with these beauty tricks and affordable skin products.
Getting that flawless look is easier than you think! These are the beauty tricks and skin products I use to perfect my skin, while still maintaining a light, natural look using affordable products.
For dewy skin that lasts all day, I do something a bit unusual: Instead of applying a primer, then my foundation, I mix the two together in the palm of my hand and then apply the mixture. The primer helps smooth out my skin, minimise my pores, makes the foundation last all day, and by mixing in into my foundation, I don’t end up applying a thick layer of solid pigment. This makes my skin look fantastic without creating a mask. Remember to blend well from your jawline to your neck! The perfect shade for your skin should blend in perfectly and not be darker than this skin.
I use Woolworths Face Smoothing Primer and Revlon ColorStay Foundation.
I only apply concealer after my foundation so that I can see which places still need a little bit of extra coverage, so I don’t have to apply too much.
I use Rimmel Hide The Blemish Concealer.
If I want to set my foundation, or if I want a slightly matte look, I use a large powder brush to apply a small amount of translucent powder to my T-zone.
I use Essence Fix and Matte Powder
Next, I apply my blusher. For my normal day-to-day look, I stick to a shade that resembles the colour that I naturally blush. I use a large blush brush (never the small compact brushes) to apply a gentle wash of colour to the apples of my cheeks, and then I sweep the colour along the underside of my cheekbones.
I use The Body Shop All-In-One Blusher
Finally, I finish off my look with a touch of highlighter. I actually use a shimmery eye shadow as my highlighter, and apply it with an angled blush brush. I sweep some along the top of my cheekbones, and finish with a “C” around my temples. I also add a sweep down the bridge of my nose.
I use Essence Eye shadow
And that’s it! It looks like quite a bit, but once you get into a routine and are familiar with what you are doing with your cosmetics, you can get perfect-looking skin in less than 3 minutes!
