All that glitters makeup is just the thing for the season!
Sparkle
If there is one time of the year when wearing glitter on your face is acceptable, it’s the festive season! However, to avoid looking like you fell into your craft supplies, make sure you use a fine particle body glitter. Sweep or dab glitter over smoky eyeshadow to add that special sparkle. Eyeshadow primer will help keep everything in its place. If you want something a bit more subtle, switch out your usual matt shadows for something with a bit of sparkle in it, or use a cheap glitter eyeliner along your lash line.
Shimmer Skin
It’s amazing what highlighting can do for your face, giving you a gorgeous glow. Sweep a shimmery powder along your cheekbones, below your brow bone and in the inner corner of your eyes. Fair skins should use a white or pink based highlighter, while darker skin tones glow with gold based highlighters.
Bejewelled
Jewel tones are always rich, luxurious and sensual. Try dazzling sapphire blue, vibrant emerald green, deep amethyst purples on your eyelids. This is beautiful paired with a touch of gold or silver in the inner corner of your eye and a sweep of highlighter across your brow bone. Line the waterlines with black eyeliner to define your peepers. Top with lashings of black mascara to draw everyone in.
Luxurious Lips
The shimmer trend has been seen on lips as well this season. To achieve a “foiled” lip, apply a clear lip gloss, and then gently press metallic mineral powder across your lips. Rose gold is particularly hot this season so why not give it a try?
Festive Fingertips
The easiest and safest way to wear glitter is on your nails. One coat of glitter nail polish over your favourite shade will add a beautiful shimmer, or layer up until the glitter is opaque (either on an accent nail or the whole lot) for a truly decadent manicure.
In All Things, Moderation!
Remember, less is more! Keep the feature sparkle to one facial feature to avoid looking too crazy. Consider the occasion and the dress code, and use your best judgement.
