Maquillage met minimalism at MAC’s most recent trends presentation.
All of SA’s beauty industry insider movers and shakers were in attendance and eager to get a glimpse of this year’s up and coming Spring/Summer looks. They may have been designed for sunnier climes, but you can still rock these looks all year round. I for one can’t wait to replicate them. Watch this space – I might just show you how I fare…
MAC South Africa’s resident senior makeup artists – Michelle-Lee Collins and Keagan Cafun – took us through a super-informative presentation, while the four trend-forward makeup looks were expertly crafted before us…
THE LOOK LOWDOWN
1. ‘REVIEW’
The first in the series is all about lashes and liner, and totally reminiscent of Twiggy.
The standout product?
MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Lash Mascara (R230) – I use it and am obsessed with it!
2. ‘ENLIGHTENED’
This look is all about adding light to the skin to mimic a glow from within.
How to recreate it?
A killer combo of MAC Strobe Cream (R360) for iridescent moisture, and MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Global Glow (R350) for an angelic, youthful glow.
3. ‘FREE PARTY’
This look has Coachella Girl written all over it. Think lived-in liner, fuchsia pigments, bushy, untamed brows, naturally stained lips, and experimental eye shadow colours that should be mixed but never matched.
4. ‘NO-MAKEUP MAKEUP’
This look is all about revealing the person behind the face, not masking or transforming her.
To star product/s?
You have to concoct it yourself!
Mix half MAC Lightful C Marine-Bright Formula Softening Lotion (R650); half MAC Prep and Prime Fix Plus, and a few drops of MAC Care Blends Essential Oil together in a Sized To Go Fix Plus bottle (R130). Spritz on and leave to set, then buff it in with a MAC 187 brush (R530).
The Golden Rule?
To max the natural look, you have to go beyond the face and replicate the look on the body too.
