Spring is finally here!! Even though the weather in Cape Town is not quite telling the same story… LOL… But here are some of the exciting Spring 2013 nail colour trends and mani trends that we can look forward to this season:
Dewey Nudes
Natural / Nude shades are big this spring season. Use a sheer nude shade with a bit of shimmer for a fresh / dewey effect.
Or choose more of an opaque tan/pearly cream colour, or a soft milky shade as an alternative to the sheer nude shade, for just a touch of earthy colour.

or
Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish 500 – Caramel Cupcake
Bright Pastels that conjure up images of macaroons or meringues are also stealing the show this Spring!
Light lilac/lavender shades with a 1950’s feel feature in most of the spring collections, or try a pale cloud blue.
Finding a complimentary yellow shade for your nails, can be tricky, but if you aim for a pastel, lemon-hue, you will end up with a fresh pop of colour on your finger tips.
Greens are popular in their own right this season, so to kill 2 birds with one stone, check both the pastel and green boxes by choosing a lime/pale mint green
TRY: Zoya’s ‘Lovely’ collection
Pretty Pinks
Think baby ‘bubblegum’ pink, or tone it down a little bit by going for a seashell pink shade with a hint of shimmer.
And for the bolder fashionistas out there – try more of a ‘Hibiscus’ colour – bright pink with blue undertones.
TRY: Tip Top Nailchic – Sherbet Angel
or
OPI Nail Lacquer in Flashbulb Fuchsia
Metallic/Iridescent Blues & Greens are also trending this spring
For the bluer shades, think mermaids, shimmer, reflective and magical.
Or on the greener side – Emeralds and Peacock feathers – almost like bits of jewellery on your fingertips 😉
And if you’re more of a traditional girl – tone it down slightly with a classic Navy Blue
TRY: Revlon Chroma Chameleon – Aquamarine
or
Revlon Chroma Chameleon – Topaz
And finally – with Nail Art getting bigger and bigger – Edgy Elements are the way to go this Spring!
Find creative uses for glitter and 3D caviar nails, feathers, speckled eggs/eggshell effect polishes.
Or try a two tone mani, for a twist on the traditional French Manicure, without being too over the top. Just pick 2 contrasting shades that flatter each other and your skin tone.
TRY: Essence pearls, velvety powder, glitter, flakes and metallic glitter powder
or
The Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots range
